Crushed

Kindergarten plastic doll house

Pretend wife, pretend family

Dirtied uniforms, sand in our shoes

All tied up in our jumbled up fantasies

Can we relive back that time

Tiny teacups and lego bricks

Giggles erupting from secrets kept

Just puppy love, a kiss on a cheek

So simple moments

No break ups or crying to sleep

Just holding hands in sand boxes

Little pools and monkey bar streaks

Burnt pancakes and trick or treat

Making sandwiches together

Making up games only we can play

Wishing it couldve gone on forever

Flower hula hoop performances

Boys dancing with coconuts

Starring extras in a snow white play

Memories built upon layers of trust

But 2 years is just too short

Like candies on a halloween night

A toothache from sweets I didnt eat

Hoping that pretending will make it alright

But those tulips never actually grew

Our laughs were ghost smile parts

Kindergarden felt so soft

Yet taught me how to harden my heart

Admiring you in your black toga

Felt the distance between each other

Giving empty speeches, shaking

Smiling a silent 'Hope I see you later.'

[End]
