CHAPTER 2 [His Sister]

Travis was completely astonished due to Evelyn's behavior. It was the first time he got rejected. And he couldn't let it go. A mere girl did not accept his offer. He pulled at his roots of hair. How can he let it go? His male ego was hurt. No matter how much he tried he can not get rid of the situation out of his mind. He thought she was completely weird and stupid to ignore someone like him. He was pretty sure she will definitely regret her rude behavior and come back to him.

She walked out of his cabin frustrated. Stupid man! What does he think of himself? He wants everything with a snap of his fingers. She was angry over the fact that she was harassed by her own boss on her very first day of work but unfortunately she could not report his unethical behavior. Because 1) He is the son of the CEO and possibly the future CEO. 2) She could not afford to get fired as her sole reason to get the job was to earn money for her mother's surgery.

'Yes life is a mess.'

She stomped towards her cabin banging the door open she walked inside and dumped the heavy pile of files, he gave her to complete, on the table. She poured herself a glass of water and gulped it down in one go to relief her anger.

"I have quite rudely replied to him he might not try to hit on me again." She muttered. "Never mind, let's get to work."

After a few hours of working she heard a knock on her cabin's door.

'If that is that mutt again I will surely kick his butt.'

"Come in"

The door opened and in walk a women in a sleek bodice dress with her lean figure she looked like she just got off the runway.'She look older than me,' she noticed. She had a huge smile on her face. Evelyn quickly rose to her feet to greet her as she sensed the woman must be someone important.

"You must be Evelyn Davis." She asks, her honey like voice dripping with enthusiasm.

The girl in question nodded her head slowly.

"I knew it!" she exclaimed. "Oh how wrong of me to not introduce myself to you. Stupid me! I am Sophia Harrison. Bennett Harrison's only Daughter and Travis Harrison's elder sister."

"Oh My God! I am so sorry Madam I did not recognize you. Nice to meet you." she hurriedly greeted her. Sophia waved her off with a flick of her wrist and excitedly sat on the extra chair in the room.

"What did you say to my brother?" she clasped her hands together while keeping it on the table. "I went to his cabin today. And he was extremely furious when I asked him what the matter is? He took your name. So I had to meet you in person."

"I am sorry ma'am, I had no intentions of doing that…it…it just happened." She clarified. She was a little worried since she did not know about his sister's nature. She didn't want to get on her bad terms.

Sophia tittered.

"No, No it's ok. I am very happy for what you did back there..." Sophia replied. "And please stop calling me Ma'am, you can call me Sophia."

Evelyn's POV

I have no idea why she is giving me a sudden special treatment. And what does she mean by she is happy that I insulted him.

"Umm…why…why are you happy that I reacted this way? If you do not mind telling me." I inquired her, as her behavior was odd.

"He deserved it." She laughed.

Oh! So his all family knows about his actions. Why wouldn't they know it's always on the news and SNS but why did she say he deserved it? I thought it would be inappropriate to question her further so I sat there smiling awkwardly.

Sophia looked down at her watch and gasped loudly.

"Oh My! I am so late. Evelyn it was so nice to meet you. I will probably come to meet you some other time. Bye~"

Without giving me time to reply to her she rushed out of the cabin in hurry. Looking at the time I realized it been so long since I have eaten anything. Completing the last file I was reviewing I quickly went out towards the canteen to eat my lunch.

*~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~*

Her eyes went wide as she entered the Canteen. It was a large sitting area and of course it served the best delicacies. But she took her home made lunch to the corner to sit alone in peace and enjoy the food her brother made for her. She saw Sophia coming towards her. She flipped her hair and sat in front of Evelyn.

"So how was your first day of Office?" she asked as soon as her butt hit the chair. She took out a mini mirror from her bag and touched up her makeup.

'Disgusting' that's what Evelyn wanted to reply instead she said 'Tiring.'

"I know it's so tiring. All the paper work, so I decided not to join the company. It gives me a headache. But do not worry. You'll get used to of it soon." She replied.

From the corner of her eyes she could see Travis sitting alone on the table across the hall.

'This man is the cause of all my back pain. I hate him. If he ever messes up with me again l will make sure to kick his balls.' She was so busy cursing him in her mind that she did not realize she has been staring at him from so long. Sophia's question brought her out of her thoughts.

"Are you interested in my brother? You have been staring at him from quite some time…" she smirked. One fact about Sophia that Evelyn just realized is that she is very much straight forward and speaks her mind.

"No!" she practically screamed horrified.

'Never in my right mind, I could ever think of liking… someone like him….'

"And why so?"

She sat there a little confused on what should she tell his sister? 'Would it be appropriate? What if they do not know about his hideous deeds?' she was contemplating what to reply but Sophia understood what she wanted to depict.

"I know you might hate him because he is kind of a….womanizer." she answered for her with a sigh.

'Kind of!' as much as she knows he is a total playboy.

"Yoh- You know about….about his deeds?" her eyes widened in astonishment.

"Ofcourse I know about that…who doesn't?" his sister nonchalantly replied while blowing her nails.

"Did you not….I mean did you not try to do anything about it? I am sorry to ask about this but still."

"Do you think I have never done anything about it?" she retorted as she glared.

"I mean to say that-" Sophia's heartfelt laughter cut her off.

"Don't be so serious all the time Evelyn…. I was just joking" her sentence made Evelyn feel at ease.

"I have tried everything i could do to save him, stop him from doing all this. But everything went in vain. I am worried about him." she said with an exasperated sigh.

"Don't be upset. There is always hope for the best to come." the girl tried to comfort for which Sophia just smiled sadly at her.

From the other side of the room, Travis was shooting daggers at the girl in glasses which she tried to ignore. She didn't want to match his glare.

His blood was boiling seeing his sister getting friendly with the girl he hates the most. He clenched his fists.

She quickly inhaled her food, literally to escape from his heated gaze. She quickly pack her empty box and stood up to go to her cabin. Sophia also stood up to saying she needs to meet her father.

With quick steps she moved out of the cafeteria but was stopped by Travis, the devil himself.

"What did you say to my sister?" he rasped.

"It.. it was nothing about you…suh-sir." The girl replied in a timid voice looking down.

"Whatever you do make sure it doesn't interfere in my work and don't get too friendly with my sister. Understood?" he warns.

"Okay." It was the only word she managed to get out as she didn't want to get fired on her very first day of work.

She quickly went towards her cabin. Due to nervousness she almost tripped.

"What is wrong with her? She acts like a freaking weirdo." He banged his fist on the wall while looking at her retreating figure.

She promised to never cross his path ever again.

But promises are made to be broken because have you ever heard of 'Destiny'.
