Chapter 67

"I see that you have a new companion," Amon commented.

After Chen's got the news about the death of the Earth Queen, he decided it would be the best time to strike.

Kuvira had volunteered to come along.

As they arrived at the plane, Chief Beifong shot an intense glare at Chen. It appeared that Suyin told her sister that Chen said that she missed her too. Lin's eyes never left Chen, seeming to want to prey on him.

Seeing that he'd gotten under the nerve of the old lady, he felt so amused.

He'd trolled her, finally.

"Yes, her name's Kuvira. She's a good bender as it seems." Chen said. "She packed up your orders. Enjoy your meals, we're leaving now."

Kuvira nodded with a firm expression as if she was a trained soldier.

"As long as she doesn't act as a hinder." Amon put a leg above another as he took his seat.

"We'll catch up later, Lin," said Suyin, who was standing by the plane along with her sons and daughters.

"Yeah, whatever." Lin rolled her eyes.

-x-X-x-

"You're so dead. So dead…" Lin didn't stop glaring at Chen, even though an hour had passed since they flew.

"Don't tempt me," Chen replied blandly as he looked through the window.

They currently were in the desert. The heat had raised so much that the waterbenders and the metalbenders were bothered. Chen and Korra seemed to be fine. Chen was a natural firebender, so he had an initial heat resistance. On the other hand, Korra had the perks of every bending race.

"Oh, I will," replied Lin.

"Don't try your luck, grandma," Korra said. "Many tried before you, and he's still alive."

"He only survived due to luck." Interrupted Amon.

Chen raised an eyebrow and looked at Amon. If there had been someone who should have plot armour in this world, it would be Amon. The first time, Amon had been lucky to use Chen's teammates as a shield. The second time, Chen defeated Amon and made his escape. The third…

"Must be the brain damage that made you think so…" Chen put a leg above another.

In this world, Chen doubted that he was the main villain since the bad guys always seemed to get a second chance.

"Remind me again, who escaped my base while being shackled from every little finger, after three days of coma." Said Amon.

That triggered some unwanted memories. "Don't tempt me to kick your ass."

"Well, aren't you two getting along." Said Tarrlok.

"Shut up," Amon said. "Let's get over this quickly. I just want to finish my part of the deal."

*BOOM*

Suddenly, the seats of the plane shook. Everyone held to the nearest object to them.

"What was that!?" Lin yelled.

"The left wing is destroyed…" Asami said. "It.. It… It…" she started muttering.

Chen turned to Korra and said. "Do something!"

"I'm thinking."

"Just get out and use some wind tornado." Chen punched toward the door, sending a strong fire stream from his hand that broke the door.

"Let's do it." Korra run and jumped out of the door, her eyes glowing white. She ran her hands, and a large tornado surrounded the plane, gently taking it to the ground. "Chen, you better come out," Korra said in different Avatar voices.

Chen had wondered why Asami was still muttering in fear. He jumped through the door as the plane was dancing with the tornado. Using his Chi control, he flew out of the tornado's reach and looked forward. He got it now why the pilot seemed to be shocked.

A mountain-sized creature was floating. An eastern azure dragon was growling at Chen.

"Hey, it's you again." Chen smiled. Although the ancient dragon was smaller than the last time, he was still as large as fuck.

"Mortal! I knew I sensed you here." Said the dragon in a mighty voice that made the ground crumble.

The last time, Chen had absorbed 1/3 of the dragon's power and combined it with his, allowing himself to sustain a pseudo-Avatar state.

However, Chen had been called powerful only when he'd the dragon's full power.

He didn't know if he would stand a chance against the ancient dragon, who came here for revenge.

"Why are you here?" Chen asked.

"I've come to retrieve my power."

Seeing that the dragon was angry, Chen decided to stall. Korra was still trying to get everyone on the plane to the ground.

"Funny thing." Chen opened his arms. "Last time I remember you said 'since you are amusing, I'll leave you on your own.' Or was that just an excuse because you didn't want to get a lightning strike again? So your fake pride didn't allow you to admit yourself to run."

"This is so absurd human. You have a funny imagination." Said the dragon. His large mouth, when moved in this material world, generated a strong wind that almost pushed Chen away.

Chen waved his hand in front of his nose. "Just for your knowledge. Remember that lightning strike."

"It was like a pat on my back."

"I could only do it once," Chen smirked at the prideful creature. "If you didn't go away, you would have killed me and taken your power back."

"You… you tricked me?" the dragon said.

"I thought you spared me because I was amusing." Replied Chen, crossing his arms, his blue eyes turning red. "What's up, angry that you got tricked."

"No. I'm angry that you think you tricked me. It's unforgivable." The dragon's voice gained some spirit.

"You always have the last word, don't you." Chen exhaled a sigh. "We both know that you won't admit it. But you ran away like a coward."

"I never ran away."

"Right. You don't run, you fly." Chen raised a thumb. "Thanks for clearing things up."

"Still as rude as the last time I've seen you." The dragon replied, opening his mouth. "But that's it."

A glow shine appeared from the dragon's mouth, gathering a large fireball, which turned into a beam that headed at Chen, threatening to swallow him.

Increasing his speed with his Chi, Chen flew to the side, dodging the beam at the last second.

Behind him, a large explosion occurred. Sand dust flew everywhere, giving the air a yellow colour. The spot that had been shot turned into a glass. Just after the explosion, Chen found the ancient dragon opening his mouth widely, heading toward him. It was trying to eat him.

Chen's eyes started turning red slowly, pushing himself to fly up. He just avoided getting eaten alive. As he raised his hand, lightning sparks danced around his arms. As he clapped down, a few lightning bolts descended, hitting the ancient dragon and covering it in a blue glow. The dragon seemed to resist the lightning as it slowly raised its head toward Chen. Its red eyes were reflecting Chen's image.

"Not so bad." The dragon flew in the air in an unpredictable pattern, surrounding Chen. From behind Chen, a large tail headed toward him as if it was a whip. Chen could see that thanks to his extra senses and thanks to that spirits had a material form in this world.

Lightning surrounded his body, and Chen vanished from sight. His speed made him look like a lightning bolt as he appeared away from the dragon.

The dragon didn't seem to need to look to know where Chen was.

"Time to use my latest flames to test."

Chen opened his hand, and a grey fire appeared on his hand.

According to the system, this flame can burn even the ashes. However, for a price, it was very draining when it came to energy.

The fire surrounded itself, turning into a ball of flame. Chen pretended to his hand to control it while using his mind to bend it. He extended his hand, and the fire headed at the dragon, who moved its head to the side.

"This shit is hot." It said.

At that moment, the fire changed its shape, turning into a very large spike that extended to the sides. One of the sides was the eye of the dragon. It tried to move its head, but it couldn't. It was shaking and moving very slowly.

There are two persons who could do that, and they were the blood-benders brothers.

"The hell…" the dragon muttered.

Soon, the grey fire spear pierced its red eyes. The fire spread through it, and the dragon opened its mouth widely. The eyes soon turned into ashes, which soon vanished. The dragon opened its mouth, and the grey fire was spreading through it. The tongue turned into ashes, which soon vanished.

'It feels like this fire is annihilating anything it touches. It won't leave the ashes.'

Chen cancelled the fire since it seemed to feed on his energy.

The dragon's body soon fell from the sky. Korra and the group ran in random directions, avoiding getting crushed by the large body.

'It still alive. So I should be able to absorb its remaining Chi.'

Chen descended and fell on his feet, on the dragon's head.

"I know you can hear me," Chen said. "If you want to stay alive, I'll offer you this. Fuse with me, again, and you'll have a long life."

Since it wasn't the first time Chen take some spirit's power, he'd experienced it. He was now sure how to keep it under control.

The dragon moved its mouth, but no words came.

Chen smirked, knowing what this guy would say. "I won't tell anyone, okay."

Chen's eyes started glowing redder, and the body of the dragon started shrinking. Chen's body acted as if it was a black hole, absorbing the whole thing inside of him. That sounded wrong somehow.

Chen's energy bar increased dramatically. Having the dragon inside was to his advantage since it could help him regenerate his energy faster.

"Where did he go…" Kuvira asked, blinking twice.

"I became the Avatar again," Chen muttered as he stood up and turned his head.

Asami reached him and put a hand on his shoulder. "Are you alright? You took something large inside."

"The context, Asami. The context." Chen faked a few coughs. "Other than that, I'm alright."

Asami chuckled.

Lin pointed a finger at him. "You won't bring that thing to the city, will you?"

Chen shook his head. "Anyway. Amon, Tarrlok, thanks." He may have failed if it weren't for them helping him pin his opponent.

"I'm just doing my part of the deal," Amon said, turning his head and clenching his fist tightly.

"Now, how are we going to the desert." Asked Tarrlok. "If I'm not wrong, we have to find the library. How are we going to do that now we are on foot in the desert? Not to mention, there are scary creatures. I think you are aware that there are desert sharks that can appear beneath our feet and eat us with ease."

"Don't worry," Korra said. "Raava can find them."
