As soon as that siren alarm echoed through the entire city, and the classroom remained in an unpleasant silence.
"Wh-What's going on?" Someone asked, and on cue, a mechanical voice rang out.
"This is not a drill. This is not a drill. The foreshock has been observed. The occurrence of a spacequake is predicted. People in the vicinity, please move to the nearest shelter immediately. I repeat-"
However, despite the incoming danger that could signal everyone's end, everything was relatively calm. At the very least, none of the students seems to have fallen into a panic.
Of course, because of the presence of the spacequakes, everyone has trained accordingly to the situation.
"The shelter is right there. If we calmly hide then it'll be alright." Shido casually said.
"R-Right, that's right." Tonomachi nodded, agreeing with Shido.
Then, without running, everyone left their classrooms and formed a line towards the shelter. But in the middle of that mess, Shido noticed someone running in the opposite direction.
"...Tobiichi…? Hey! What are you doing! The shelter is the other direction-"
"I'm fine." Origami stopped for a moment before she dashed away. Shido stared at her before he sighed.
"...?" Shido remembered a particular thing and searched through his pocket. When he found his phone, something else fell from his pocket when he was pulling it out.
Looking on the ground, Shido found that ominous card once again, but he just picked it up.
"Hm? What's that?" Tonomachi glanced at the card, and Shido shrugged. "I don't know."
He just ignored the card on his hand and turned to his phone. He selected the name 'Itsuka Kotori' from the call history and dialled.
However, it didn't connect…
"...Damn it. Did she manage to evacuate?" Shido couldn't help but feel that something was wrong. In his head, Kotori's promise suddenly came out.
"W-Well we did make an absolute promise to meet there even if a spacequake happened, but… even she wouldn't be that dumb… Oh, right, I have that."
Kotori's phone should have a GPS location service installed. Manipulating his own phone, Shido brought a map of the town onto the screen, and found Kotori's location.
As soon as he saw where it was located, Shido's throat clogged up. He gritted his teeth and cursed under his breath. "That huge idiot…"
Shido snapped his phone shut without clearing the screen and even forgot about the ominous card on his other hand before he started to run away from the line of students.
"H-Hey, where are you going, Itsuka!" Tonomachi called out for him.
"Sorry! I forgot something! You go ahead!"
Shido immediately climbed down the stairs and ran past the school gate. "...Since it's become like this, we'll just evacuate normally…!"
As soon as he reached the streets, an eerie scene spread out in front of his eyes. The entire town was emptied of people; no car was moving, no light was turned on… It was as if the town was turned into a ghost city. And that was done in less than 10 minutes.
However…
"Why is that idiot stubbornly waiting there…!" Shido shouted while looking at his phone, showing Kotori's potion in front of the family restaurant.
His other hand made him remember that he still held the card, so he almost threw it away in annoyance. However, something weird happened.
The street in front of him was suddenly engulfed in a blinding light, before an explosion and a fierce shockwave assaulted Shido. "Wha-"
Before he could even speak, he was sent flying away as if a typhoon assaulted him. When he felt contact with the ground again, Shido slowly stood up.
"...Huh?" Seeing the landscape that spread through his vision, Shido let out an astonished sound. Everything that was in front of him vanished in an instant…
"Wh-What is this, what the hell happened, this is…" Shido muttered in a daze. It was as if a meteorite crash-landed… It wasn't a joke, the landscape looked like a giant scraped everything off. And, in the corner of the street that had become like a crater, there was something like a clump of metal that rose.
Despite the actual distance between him and that clump of metal, he could clearly see what it was. It was a throne that looked like it was made of stones, and there was a girl with a strange dress standing on the throne with a foot on the armrest.
The girl has very long dark purple hair tied back with a ribbon and matching dark purple eyes with white irises. She is wearing a princess-like dress with pieces of armour all around it, everything with a pink, purple and white cream colour scheme.
She was simply beautiful…
"Un…?" The girl also noticed him and grabbed a handle that grew out of the back of the throne, before slowly pulling it out.
It was a broadsword, and a really huge one, too. Then, in a single instant that seemed to last an eternity for Shido, the girl shook her sword, sending an energy wave against him. Instinctively, Shido raised his arms in a cross-shape, and…
*Fwoosh!*
Shido clearly felt contact with some sort of wave, and it hurt him a bit.
"Nu?!" The girl sounded surprised, while Shido gradually opened his eyes. And the thing that welcomed him was…
Shido wanted to scream once he found yellow ethereal tattoos covering his arms, however, his attention immediately shifted towards the girl who was standing in front of him right now.
"...You too…!" Seemingly angry for seeing an annoyance, the girl frowned.
However, Shido forgot everything about that and stared at the girl, as if he was charmed. "...What's… your name?"
Who is this… goddess?
"...I have no such thing." The girl replied back with an expression filled with grief. After saying that, she raised her sword again.
That gesture brought Shido in the bad and evil reality called 'life-or-death situation' and immediately raised his hands again. "Wait, wait, wait!"
The girl looked at Shido in confusion. "...What?"
"Wh-What are you planning to do…?!"
"Of course, kill you quickly."
"W-Why!?"
"Why…? Isn't it obvious? ...After all, didn't you come to kill me too?"
Those words left Shido in a state of shock as he stared at the nameless girl. "...Huh? ...There's no way I would do that."
"....What?" The girl looked back at Shido with surprise, suspicion, and confusion. And then, at that moment, her eyes narrowed and shifted upwards.
As if being brought along, Shido also turned to look upwards, and saw… "Wh… What the heck?!"
Strange things keep coming out, and now he is seeing some people wearing strange mechanical suits flying in the sky shooting missiles at the two of them.
"W-Waaaaaaah!?" Shido let out a scream of fear, and then he saw something strange despite taking his eyes away from the missiles.
He saw the missiles being stopped from an invisible barrier…
Shido opened his eyes in surprise and looked forward, somehow seeing the missiles coming once again before they stopped in front of the girl, several meters away, as if they were being held by invisible hands.
It was the same exact scene that Shido saw some seconds ago…
"...This kind of thing is useless, why can't they ever learn." The girl muttered under her breath before she crushed the missiles with an invisible force, making them explode. Fortunately, she also fixed the size of the explosions so that they won't damage anyone.
"Hmpf…" The girl gave another small sigh and made a face that looked like she was almost crying, filled with grief.
Seeing that expression, Shido felt his heart pound even harder than before, and it started to hurt him a bit…
Why such a beautiful flower was so sad? She didn't seem to have any reason.
"...Disappear, disappear… Anything and everything… Just disappear!" The girl randomly waved her sword in the sky, sending fierce shockwaves all over the air.
In a blink of an eye, Shido's sight shifted once again into something that could be considered as the future. Some flying people pointed their guns at him and shot light beams at him.
In another blink, Shido's vision turned back to what it was before, and then he looked upwards. He saw some flying girls pointing their rifles at him, and Shido immediately kicked the ground to roll away, or so he wanted to do.
Instead, much to his shock, Shido jumped high in the air, even surpassing the flying girls' height.
The girls immediately raised their guns to shoot him down, but their attention shifted to the armoured girl who flew towards them.
However, not everyone was distracted with her, 1/3th of the group detached themselves from the rest and flew towards Shido. Shido panicked, without any means to move through the air.
Or so he thought…
All of a sudden, his body shifted away from the girls, as if he was also flying. Shido didn't have any idea about what was happening, but he took advantage of the situation to learn how to fly.
And in less than a minute, he felt like he had everything under control. Looking behind, there was the group of girls chasing after him, trying to shoot him down with missiles and laser rifles. However, in the time that Shido used to learn how to fly, he dodged or blocked all of them with ease.
Finally, he decided to accelerate and quickly trying to leave from their sight. He was more curious about the girl's safety rather than the hunters, and then he got another vision.
It was about the nameless girl of before fighting against… Tobiichi Origami?!
The two were fighting in front of his eyes as if he was on spectator mode in a game. He didn't know how he could do it, but it was useful.
There is an unmeasurable amount of questions he wanted to answer, but he couldn't at the moment. So he just ran away… Until, all of a sudden, a bright light enveloped his body.
