Percy Jackson: A Demigod's Pain

Life is cruel, but aren't the gods are crueler? Bringing mortals into their petty arguments while also ignoring their pleas. The worst part of all this? They still expect us demigods to save them. . First and foremost, f*ck the movies. With that being said Percy Jackson is my all time series of books so it is only natural for me to write about it. This is not a story about a main character becoming really op while collecting girls like Pokemon. This story will focus on character development and world-building. Slow romance, like really slow romance, and obviously no harem. There will be things here that I feel are usually overlooked in Percy Jackson fanfics, such as fatal flaws. . Credits to Rick Riordan for his books. The cover picture isn't one either.

Monsters in the school

[ 7 years old ]

Running through hallways of my school, I couldn't help but curse everything. Why did monsters have to exist?! Why am I the only one who can see them?! Why do they keep coming after me?!

Entering an empty classroom, I look through the wide windows only to find another one of the monsters that keep coming after me. Tightening my hold on the hammer currently resting within my hands, I run out of the classroom into the next best location, the bathroom. Right after crossing through yet another hallway I find myself face to face with another harpy, who is looking at me with hungry eyes.

Narrowly avoiding an attack from her claws, I manage to distance myself from it and continue running in the direction of the bathroom. While it will indeed be bad to stay locked in a space with a monster, I need to take them out one by one, otherwise I won't stand a chance of surviving against the three of them. One was outside and the other one is following right behind me, the last one however is...

Ducking, I manage to avoid a blow from the third harpy that appeared from inside a classroom. The other two have managed to get closer to me, making me regret not having simply called out for help, despite knowing it would be useless since no one else can see them, I guess it would be nice to not dying alone... NO.

Jumping to the left, I manage to successfully evade another attack from the new harpy before I swing my hammer at it and hitting its arm, causing it to break.

Damn I love this hammer, I am not sure who sent it since it suddenly appeared on my nightstand on my seventh birthday. At first I was a bit creeped out by it, since the only one at home during the night was mom and she definitely didn't get me a hammer, but after a while it started growing on me. It is a beautiful bronze coloured hammer that fits perfectly in my hand and even hurts the monsters a lot.

When the monsters first started focusing on me more, I tried using kitchen knifes to get them, however this hammer can actually hurt them instead of annoying them or barely scratching them like other tools.

After hitting the harpy, I continued running through the hallways of the school. It was already late and I was waiting for my mom to pick me up who, as usual, must have forgotten to pick me up.

Entering the bathroom, I immediately took a defensive position while tightening my grip on the hammer. The first harpy to come in was the already wounded one, allowing me to kill her in one swift hit to the head as it was launching itself at me. The second harpy to come in immediately jumped in my direction, allowing me to stab it's eye with the sharp end of the hammer. This action however, left me vulnerable to the third harpy, who tried to take advantage of the weight its dead partner had over me to attack.

Using the corpse which was starting to dissolve into ashes as a shield for the attack was among my greatest ideas, it allowed me enough time to get up from under it and throw my hammer at the head of the remaining harpy. While it was extremely dangerous to not have a weapon, I managed to at least hurt it enough to confuse it.

Running to where the hammer fell, I grabbed it once again and hit the harpy's abdomen several times until it laid unmoving, leaving me tired and covered in disgusting green coloured blood.

After washing myself in the sinks of the school bathroom, I made my way back to the front gate of the school, where I continued to wait for my mother.

"You took a while there, I was about to go get you. Everything alright?" asked my teacher who was waiting with me for my mother. I told her I needed to urgently go to the bathroom and ran away when I saw the harpies coming in my direction.

Eventually, a beautiful sports car entered the school and stopped in front of us. "Good evening miss Adler." said my teacher with a smile once my mother lowered the window to tell me to get in. "The school finishes at 4pm and it is almost five already. While I don't mind staying longer with your daughter, I can't do it every day." she continued with the same smile, her eyes however got a bit more serious. To be honest it was nice seeing my mom get scolded.

I may sound bit petty, especially since I am more mature than other kids, but you can't really expect me to not be angry at my mother, actually I have started resenting her quite a bit. I may have had a past li-

"Get in already." said my mother angry while ignoring my teacher's words.

Sigh, whatever. I actually understand why my mother is so pissed, she is someone who despite having zero parenting skills and being in her early twenties got pregnant by a man who left her right after that. Add to that the fact that I raising a kid with ADHD and dyslexia is quite hard and you get a frustrated woman who gets easily. Besides she has also getting less sleep, after all she wakes up whenever I wake up screaming. There is however someone who I have started hating quite a bit... someone who left a young pregnant woman and his child to never return.

After getting in the car, my mother speeds off without caring about this being a school zone. Once we leave the school grounds she hits the driving wheel a couple of times, causing me to look in her direction with a confused look. "Ehmmm... don't pay attention to what she said?" I slowly say hesitantly while looking in her direction, thinking that she was really upset by my teacher's words. Mother words quite hard, after all the enterteinment industry is very troubling, but I didn't quite expect her to take my teacher's words to heart.

"Huh?! I obviously don't care about what some nobody has to say!" she replies angrily before focusing once again on the road, not speaking again for the rest of the way home.
