Overlord: Rei Shiba

Well, this was just one of my pet projects I was making when I had time. I am posting it because I lost interest in it so it is basically dropped. Anyway, maybe it will shorten someone's long while and provide entertainment for the evening... or something. :D Also, do give me your opinion on the story, please. I am not interested in people saying: "Yeah, it's trash!" Because they have problems in real life and this is the way for them to vent. I am sure there will be things not everybody will like but I am interested in constructive criticism. If you find yourself so inclined, do leave a comment or review on what you liked about the story and what you disliked and why. Maybe how it felt to read it for you. (Yeah, I am not really all that satisfied with this story, tbh. :D.) It might help me the next time I find myself desiring to write Overlord fanfic.

Ch27. Ainz's questions 1

Rei woke up, realizing it was already morning. He didn't sleep much as he didn't really need sleep anymore. It would just be impolite to leave Solution in the bed alone so he decided... why not?

Looking down, Rei spotted a beautiful blonde mess of hair haphazardly strewn around his chest and quite a big part of the bed, and underneath this hair, Solution's cheek snugly laid on his naked chest with a blissful satisfaction etched on her face that just boosted his ego into high heavens. He could feel her naked body trying to blend into his in a search for warmth, making his instincts flare again but with a full ten hours of indulging them, it was easy to just push them back.

It would be a pity to wake her up... or rather, to make her stop pretending she was actually asleep.

'How amusing...' Rei inwardly snickered at the adorable act of his woman.

As Rei stared at Solution's face, her charming blue eyes suddenly opened, and a strange stare-down between them began.

After a while, Rei smiled, "Finally done pretending to sleep?"

"How did you know?" Solution's lips pursed into a small cute pout.

"I can... smell it?" Rei confusedly tilted his head. He... didn't really understand it. He just knew.

"Ah, I understand." Solution nodded her head, which, Rei was almost certain, was just a convenient excuse to rub her cheek on his chest, "In the same manner as you can smell I am awake, I can't fully fall asleep." She informed him.

"How so?" Rei curiously asked. He knew the lore of her class from beginning to end and there was nothing about this issue.

"I am a slime." Solution replied in a drawn-out content voice as she snuggled more into Rei's body. "Even when asleep, a part of my body is awake and aware. I can't fully fall asleep."

'Ah... that's what I missed.' Rei nodded in understanding, not sure if that was ever in lore for slimes in Yggdrasil. Not that it mattered now. Rei was not about to worry about it. He surmised that much like his own new Incubus instincts and quirks, Solution had hers.

Solution put her hand on Rei's chest, slowly rubbing it while her leg snaked around his... Rei sighed, "Would you stop trying to make me horny?"

Solution bit her lower lip and looked to the side, "I thought you would appreciate a... breakfast, Master."

Rei dumbly blinked at her answer... before bursting into laughter, causing yet another pout to appear on his partner's face.

Putting his hand on Solution's head, he started to gently caress it while still trying to rein in his chuckling. It was positively adorable! Unfortunately, he could feel she wasn't really aroused and that her body had had enough. She was practically trying to force herself to 'feed' him but honestly...

"Solution, I don't need sex to survive. I am the highest tier of Incubus, the Archdemon of Lust. I can last indefinitely with just a slight portion of my own mana. Don't try to force yourself to keep me sated, alright?" He stated in such a caring tone that Solution's breath hitched and her cheeks flushed. And just like that, Rei could feel slight arousal from her. Not that he was going to try taking advantage of that. Her body was still quite spent and while her healing magic could fix that in a jiffy, staying in bed for the entire day was not on his schedule.

"So... what are we going to do today, Master?" Solution tried to change the topic.

"I'd like to spar with you, actually." Rei obliged. "I am sure Momonga will hunt me down though so it would probably be better if I have my breakfast in the cafeteria. It will be easier for him to find me that way. So maybe after that?"

"A... spar?" Solution unsurely asked, not liking the vision of her trying to hurt her Master. Not even in a spar. It simply went against everything she believed in. Against her purpose.

Chuckling, Rei nodded, "Yeah. Obviously, we won't try to kill or hurt each other." He tried to assuage her worries. "Don't worry."

"Mhmm." Solution hummed, letting her head drop back onto Rei's chest, finding a comfortable place and warm for her cheek.

Rei understood the gesture. Apparently, she wasn't about to move until he ordered her. Frankly, he just found it amusing. 'I think I can allow her a few hours of comfort.' He decided as he kept stroking her silky hair while closing his eyes, listening to Solution's almost silent purrs.

...

It was only a few hours later that Rei finally got out of bed and his plans for breakfast in the cafeteria had to be promptly adjusted considering it was already lunch-time.

Nevertheless, it didn't even take two minutes since he started eating his lunch when Ainz showed up and sat opposite him, briefly greeting Solution who was in her maid role again, sitting next to Rei and enjoying her own lunch at his behest.

Rei actually found it amusing how Ainz clearly wanted to ask his question, yet, he kept quiet, intently hypnotizing him with his eyes, trying to make him eat faster because he most likely believed it was rude interrupting someone's lunch.

Rei couldn't help but start eating even slower, enjoying how Ainz stifled an exasperated groan in his quest to be polite...

'With how long we know each other, I should have expected this...' Ainz mentally grumbled.

Rei enjoyed teasing Momonga. He never went overboard and was always helpful when it was needed, like when all of the other guild members left. The guild should have disbanded then and there. It was almost infeasible for one or two people to support a guild of the size of Ainz Ooal Gown and it was definitely impossible to advance it.

'Yet, Rei stayed with me until the end and helped me take care of it.' Ainz inwardly smiled. 'He even invested so much money into the guild...' A bit of guilt started tugging on his strings.

"Fine! Ask your questions!" Rei suddenly exclaimed, pushing away his half-empty plate, while rolling his eyes in exasperation. He really couldn't bear being stared at while he ate. Eating slower should have made Ainz uncomfortable, not him!

"Are you sure you are finished eating?" Ainz asked, eyeing the unfinished food.

"I can't eat when you stare at me like a lovestruck puppy." Rei irritatedly grumbled. Yes, he didn't need to eat but he still enjoyed it.

"Er... sorry?" Ainz apologized. He just couldn't help himself. He loved learning more about magic.

"Yeah... So?" Rei resignedly sighed. He had no idea what Ainz noticed but he knew the guy was sharp as a knife when he wanted to be. It was honestly a surprise he was just an ordinary salaryman.

"Solution..." Ainz briefly glanced at the blonde who quietly watched them with unbridled interest, "She has both Silent Casting and Instant Casting. Explain! HOW!?" Ainz excitedly leaned forward, for a moment forgetting his regal Overlord persona as he realized his friend had an answer for the eternal dilemma of Yggdrasil casters.

As for Rei... when he heard the question he loudly groaned. "Dammit... I should have known you would notice that." He complained with a wry smile on his face. He then noticed all the attention they were receiving from the residents of Nazarick and decided this was not a good spot to talk about these things. "I don't mind telling you but we should have this discussion somewhere more private."

'Then again, it could have always been worse and he could have noticed something more important. At least this I have no qualms about revealing.'
