As he pondered what his real name was, Elder Centipede quickly dodged multiple energy beams and crawled towards his direction in terror.
'I will die if I fight any longer!'
It thought in its mind. Afraid of death as any other living being, Elder Centipede really ran for its life.
"Where are you running off to!"
Blast shouted loudly from behind before shooting an energy beam at the fleeing monster.
BOOM!
The beam hit on the tail and it exploded. It did hurt but Elder Centipede could care less about its tail right now.
It then detected a tiny individual in its path. A tall young man, with long red hair and a huge hammer on his shoulder.
"Die!"
Elder Centipede saw the young man lift his hammer and pull himself back. On his face, there wasn't a slight hint of fear.
'The hell is wrong with this guy?'
As it neared, Elder Centipede raised its upper body and charged towards the ground where the young man was standing.
Its plan was to tunnel through the hard ground and escape in the earth's crust.
But all that came to a stop when its vision caught the young man's hammer swung by its side.
The speed was so fast that the Elder Centipede couldn't react or respond at all. All it did was stop in its path surprising Blast who was just behind it.
ZOOMM!
Mjolnir passed the monster and headed towards the direction of Blast, fortunately the hero was able to move to his side and dodge.
The hammer formed an arc and slammed on the mountain and produced an unimaginable explosion.
BOOM!
In broad daylight, right under the bright sun, light and flames erupted. The entire mountain exploded into tiny parts, each bigger than an elephant.
Blast and Elder Centipede, both had their eyes wide open in shock. The sheer power in that impact would be enough to kill them.
"Who could he be? So powerful."
Having created a heavy force field around himself to protect him from the explosion, Blast shifted his eyes towards the young man with long red hair.
There was a faint presence of fear and caution together with curiosity in his eyes.
'If humans have this kind of strong man, then what was there to be afraid of the uprising of monsters?'
Thoughts ran in his mind as Blast descended towards the young man. About the Elder Centipede who chose to escape in the chance, he gave no mind to it.
If he really wanted to kill that monster quickly, he would have done so.
…
'I missed…'
Looking at the destruction I had caused, I signed and shook my head.
I swung the hammer at the monster as hard as I could, but ultimately I missed and it was a fruitless attack.
Now I had to search my hammer in all that dust and dirt. If it had landed, Elder Centipede would definitely be headless.
"It got a chance to run away, bastard."
The opening of the tunnel where the gigantic centipede just drilled through, was not far from his location.
"Hello! I am Blast, a hero from the Hero Association. Who might you be?"
Blast came before me and asked politely. He seemed unsure about my true intention and was trying to create a good image.
'Fight! Kill!'
The voices resonated in my head, this time giving me a headache. I had to control and not always listen to these voices.
Or sometimes I might be getting in trouble.
"I am Thor. I came from far away."
I was a little baffled why I answered with that name but since I couldn't remember my real name, this one would also work.
Thor, God of Thunder.
'Not bad.'
Blast had a mixed expression as the name I told, Thor- was the name of a God and to him I appeared as a man, who was just really strong.
But I was a real God.
"Thor, a strong name which suits a strong man like you."
He said with a smile on his face. I gave a nod and asked what I wanted.
"Where is the closest city?"
"Um, That should be towards that direction. If you walk then it will take four days to reach there."
Blast pointed towards one direction and answered my question. It should only take a few more hours for me to reach there by jumping.
"I could take you there quickly if you want."
Since it was a great opportunity for Blast to ro- get a new strong hero, he showed eagerness.
"I appreciate it. First let me get my hammer."
I pushed strength to the leg muscles and immediately dashed forward towards the leveled mountain.
…
BAM!
Blast took a deep breath and turned his head to follow Thor's figure. His running speed was lightning fast.
And in his every move, there was immense power.
"Where could such an amazing individual come from?"
If he was able to get Thor in the Hero Association, his work would decrease by a huge margin.
"I will try to invite him."
Once Thor returned back to his side, Blast initiated small talks before opening a portal in front of them.
"Come."
The two entered the portal and disappeared from the forest area.
* * *
What greeted me was the sight of huge buildings and advanced devices. Pedestrians walking on the sidewalk, vehicles and motorbikes waiting for the green light, etc.
And there was the overly huge black building, in the center of the city, the Headquarters of the Hero Association.
'So this is City A.'
I couldn't help but be a bit overwhelmed. This was an opportunity for me to achieve my goals.
"This is City A. The Hero Association headquarters is also located here. Actually, that building there is the Headquarters."
Blast stood to my right and pointed in the direction of the black building reinforced to be almost indestructible.
"What is Hero Association?"
I asked even though I knew everything about it. But I planned to live in this world so I had to have an identity.
And creating it with Blast was the best idea.
"Are you unaware of the Hero Association? Where did you really come from?"
Blast scratched his chin and looked at me with curious gaze. I with a glance and answered nonchalantly.
"I was asleep. For a very long time."
"Asleep?"
Blast tried to connect the dots. A young man, carrying a huge hammer and had a name similar to a God.
And he was asleep? Could it be 'years'?
"Anyways. The Hero Association is an organization founded by a multi-millionaire, Agoni, that manages all of the cities' heroes. It operates independently of the government."
"The Hero Association uses a hierarchical class system to organize its heroes, with four classes and individually numbered ranks within respective classes."
"As long as you're strong and are willing to help the people, you can be a hero."
After he completed, Blast waited for my reaction but was disappointed as I didn't show much.
"Is it? Heroes…"
Who was a hero?
There were tens of different answers for this single question. But one thing was common in them.
'Not everyone can be a hero.'
I placed Mjolnir down on the ground and looked around the city. In the future, this city would be in ruins.
"Would you like to visit the Hero Association?"
Blast decided to act. I thought for a moment and nodded my head in silence.
Since I was here, might as well see everything.
