A New Encounter

Volt yawned as he made his way to Frost's school once again. Today was Frost's big game and the day he would give his answer. Nyx told Volt that she would meet him there that day but oddly enough, she didn't respond when he texted her to confirm their meeting today. Nevertheless, Volt took it upon himself to show up.

Richmond High did not have a very big focus on security since they had so reason to. As a result, Volt was able to swiftly make his way to the bleachers among the actual people who were excited for the game.

Volt took a seat towards the back and sat down to text Nyx once again.

(Hey, I'm here. Where are you?)

He scrolled back up at her other responses and knew her response time was usually within five minutes. Unlike some other people Volt knew, Nyx was actually on top of her messages.

Five minutes passed and all Volt could do was sigh.

(Given the shit we're in, best is her phone broke and the worse is someone hostile got to her.) Volt thought as he watched the players starting to walk out on to the field.

As the game started, Volt couldn't help but linger on Nyx in his thoughts.

One of her last responses was her confirming that she had what Frost really desired. Without her and her support, Volt had to find a way to draw Frost to him. And he had a suspicion that he might need his help in finding Nyx as well.

With no idea of what was happening in the game, Volt constantly checked his messages. Nyx was someone who looked like she vaguely knew what she was doing. If she was in over her head, then what did that leave Volt? One of his last resorts would be to bring it up to Excalibur. Volt could just walk away from her, but it didn't feel right to do that.

After half time, the score was in favor of Richmond High. Though their team was in the lead, it was not by much. The school they were playing against was Greensfield, which was located in a low-income area of the city. This meant their students were generally a rough crowd and their Football players were no less so.

That was when they started to lose unfortunately, almost all caused by an interesting player on the opponent's side. Though Volt did not know his position, he knew that this player was formidable. He held back two of Frost's teammates with ease on defense and when Greensfield was on offense, he slammed hard in to the same two players. The people on both teams were big guys by virtue of the game but this player seemed like he towered over them in mass and height.

In the last play, Richmond was two yards from the goal. And it was up to Frost to hold the giant back.

The play started and it was over in seconds. Frost did his best to hold his man but he was immediately knocked down by the player moving forward. With Frost's position down, the rest of the formation broke easily and their Quarterback was stopped.

The whistle blew and the game ended. Richmond needed the point to tie but they couldn't even manage that in the end.

The team walked off dejected and the crowds started to disperse from the field. The home team losing was a blow to the school's morale for a while.

Volt made his way in to the school and called out to Frost.

"Hey Pat!"

Several of the team members looked at Volt with slight confusion. They had never seen him before and yet he was so familiar with their teammate.

"You guys go ahead." Frost waved his team mates ahead.

"Only you today?" Frost said as Volt approached him.

"Nyx is busy."

"Yea, wouldn't want to take a girl to see that loss." Frost sighed.

"So, what's your answer?"

"I'm flattered you came to watch my game but honestly I just said that keep you off my back. I don't know if I'll have time seeing how the team wants to train twice as hard now."

"You know, Nyx said she had something that would convince you one hundred percent."

"And that is?" Frost raised an eyebrow.

"She wanted to make it a surprise."

"Well, if that's all then." Frost turned around to head for the locker room.

"Wait! Frost, you'll need our help if anyone ever finds you."

"The only people who have found me, attacked me too. Oh wait, that was you, Volt." Frost sarcastically said as he walked away.

"Tch." Volt knew he was not doing well in keeping Frost's interest.

And then as Volt was thinking of what to do next, someone unexpected appeared.

"I'm sorry but I couldn't help overhearing your talk."

It was the player from before that Frost failed to stop. He had just come out of the bathroom and was now blocking Frost's way.

Frost frowned at his words.

"Don't worry about it." Frost said as he stepped to the right.

The player moved to the right also, still blocking Frost.

"My name is Henry." He explained.

"I'm Patrick and that's Alan." Frost said as he veered to the left this time.

SLAM

Henry slammed his palm to the wall, blocking Frost's path for good.

He then pushed Frost back towards Volt with a good amount of force.

"What the hell man!?" Frost was really angry at Henry now.

"You can also call me, "Rhino"." Henry smiled as Volt and Frost's faces widened.

"Oh f-"

[Rhino Charge]

And so, before he could even finish his sentence, Volt and Frost as well got hit by what they thought was the equivalent of a freight train.

This would've been a sports esque chapter if I knew anything about the sport. Instead, you get to read me wing it.
