Terry immediately picked the weapon since that window screen disappeared, and then it appeared again… he immediately understood what was happening. His trait could only be activated when he was holding something that was considered a weapon since that power worked to make other things stronger.
"I never heard of a trait like this… but this will definitely work," Terry said while checking the kitchen knife. "The only question is, how can I make this level up?"
After doing some tests, Terry confirmed that just using the weapon would get experience. By swinging in the air like he was cutting something or even using it like it was supposed to be used as a kitchen knife. After ten minutes of doing that, he noticed it.
Kitchen Knife - Lv 0 (2/10 EXP) (Common)
Attack Power: 01
Durability: 02/02
"One point of experience after ten minutes by practicing slashes and thrusts and one more by cutting veggies and meat into small parts until they became kind like powder… I went too far with my food. Perhaps I have been too harsh with you, food." Terry said while frowning. "In any case, I just need to train with it and make it level up."
Terry didn't feel that hungry anymore. He was excited by his trait, and it looked awesome and cool as well! He couldn't have asked for a better trait!
Still, he filled his belly since he would need a lot of energy to make the weapon level up. In the end, Terry used the weapon for the rest of the day and even lost the notion of time and trained overnight as well. The result was awesome… a bit plain, though, since it was only a kitchen knife.
Kitchen Knife - Lv 3 (03/40 EXP) (Common)
Attack Power: 04
Durability: 08/08
"I see… I guess the basic stats of a weapon determines its potential. With each level up, the weapon gains the same initial parameters as a bonus," Terry thought while he was catching his breath. "I don't know how I can compare this to a real weapon forged by monsters, or even one obtained during a mission, but I need to keep using this until it lets me fight some monsters."
The excitement got the better of Terry. Only once he cooled down his head, he realized that he could use more knives. One in his other hand and the other in his mouth. The three knives' style seemed a bit silly, and it didn't make him feel stronger than just having a single weapon, so it didn't seem that their parameters actually made his body stronger…
"Some people say that they feel power passing through their bodies when they get a new magic weapon, so things might be different once I get one of those… I will definitely get one of those," Terry smirked. "And then make those guild guys regret not accepting me."
For the next few days, Terry focused on training and making weapons with whatever trash he could find around the city. It was better than nothing, and he would need different weapons for different situations, after all. Besides, when one of the knives reached level five, Terry saw something new.
Kitchen Knife - Lv 5 (00/60 EXP) (Common)
Attack Power: 06
Durability: 12/12
(Double Slash: a technique that grants you the chance to launch two attacks in quick succession.)
Terry immediately decided to test Double Slash, and he failed a few times since he thought that it was automatic. It only worked when he thought of the skill while he swung his weapon. When he slashed in a diagonal attack, his arm followed a similar strike upward and to the other side. When he used it on a horizontal attack, the reverse movement was done. The same thing happened with a vertical attack.
"It doesn't have limitations, so this will be useful…" Terry nodded to himself. "Making a staff and a spear with crap will be easy, but everything else will need some materials… anything that can be transformed into weapons is valuable, so I will have to obtain some money before anything."
Terry's food stock was quickly running out, so he didn't have much time. He wanted to make the staff and Spear reach level five as well, but maybe it won't happen…
On the day of his stock of Salamander's meat ended, it was the day that Terry's Spear reached level five. In the end, he did the right thing in focusing on only one of the two weapons.
Long Spear - Lv 5 (00/60 EXP) (Common)
Attack Power: 12
Defense: 06
Durability: 12/12
(Critical: increases the chances of causing critical damage when hitting the enemy.)
"This will do. Now I have to choose the right dungeon to go to…" Terry said and then began to rub his chin thoughtfully. "There is the goblins' dungeon, but I don't want to work for them after they refused that girl and me. While it is natural for them to refuse us, it is also natural for me to hold a grudge. Aside from that dungeon, there are the Sahuagin dungeon and the salamanders' dungeon… both of them are way too hard for newbies. Still, I don't have any other choice."
Salamanders' main method of attack was their fire breath, and Terry didn't have an excellent way to deal with that yet. However, the Sahuagin were hybrid creatures, they could use magic and fight with spears made of water, but they weren't that amazing at either. That is the price one has to pay for trying to master several things…
