CHAPTER 8: A NEW HOPE

A new notification popped up as I was going through the new interface of the system.

[Ding! New function such as Intelligence Stat, Lottery, Favorability Meter and Latest interface, has been added due to the new update.]

[Ding! Due to host getting a Forbidden @#$%^& that had essence of Law of Causality which is beyond host's comprehension this @#$%^& will be sealed.]

[Ding! Sealing progress 1%, 7%, 15%, 40%....]

[Ding! ERROR]

[ERROR]

[Ding! Sealing is finished by connecting the Forbidden @#$%^& to system's origin, that is, host's soul.]

[Ding! New Function 'World Choice' has been created and added to the system due to host connecting the Forbidden @#$%^& with his soul.]

Hearing all these new notifications which I couldn't understand was quite frustrating.

'Hey what just happened? No fuck that, how did your apathetic voice got emotions suddenly?'

I asked frustratingly in my mind.

[Host I always had emotions it's just that your existence level was too low for me to unlock myself even partially.] said the system in a beautiful voice.

My eyebrow twitched hearing her indirect insult (which by the way is true) just I was going to reply to her, she continued.

[As for what happened when you absorbed that Forbidden @#$%^& and just now, is that you got something that was almost impossible to get, something that directly challenge the authority of heavens, something that is considered as one of the existing Forbidden and something that might become one of the weapons for you to survive.]

[So, getting something so significant while being so weak created some variable which ended up in you clearing a part of a hidden quest and got rewards that should be only possible after the becoming a cultivator.]

Hearing systems explanation I got the gist of what happened an hour ago.

'I always had an inkling that this skill was special but this, I did not expect this' I said to myself in my mind.

[Me too host, I did not expect you to get a Forbidden @#$%^& in this backward plane.] I heard system surprise and an incomprehensible word when mentioning the skill but did not ask system about it as I had an idea about its reply.

[Anyway continuing, due to the host being weak I had to seal most of its functions or the host would have died, but during the sealing process the Forbidden @#$%^& unexpectedly formed a bond with your soul just like me, and it integrated with me and created a new function with some of its origin power.]

'So, what you are saying is that I got something that is consider as forbidden by heavens and I have also triggered a hidden quest to get more of this forbidden to survive against heavens.' I asked carefully.

[Yes, host is right.]

'Hmm ... this changes everything.' I thought with a grin on my face only to get weird looks from confused Amy.

"What are you grinning about, brother?" Amy asked in confusion.

"Nothing. I was just planning the future." I said with a smile.

Although it looked like that it didn't affect me but I was sure that there is no hope for my survival and my only goal before was to create a path to long, happy and safe for Amy and Megan (Mom) while enjoying my few days, years or centuries before the ultimate end.

When a person come to understand that the mighty heaven is your biggest enemy they usually tend to get drown in despair, that is if they are not those bitches of heaven and the same was true for me too, not drowning in despair but by becoming hopeless.

But this changes everything, now I have a fascinating information that there are things that are considered forbidden by heaven itself, things that have power to oppose heaven itself.

'System how will I find more of these forbidden things.' I asked the system in anticipation.

[Host you getting one of them now and here is already astonishing, and getting any of them is nothing but pure luck or at least that is what I would have said before you got it with your shitty fate value.] said the female voice of system in frustration.

[But now with the new function of system it maybe possible for host to get them.]

'You are talking about World Choice? What it really is?'

[Answering host, World Choice is a function that was created because me and that Forbidden @#$%^& became bonded to the same soul that is you, this function uses the Law of Causality, which that Forbidden @#$%^& is embodiment of.]

'What is law of Causality?'

[The Law of Causality is @#$%^&* @#$%^&* @#$%^&* ... oh my mistake host, I forgot how weak you are that you will not be able to understand laws.] System said in a sarcastic voice. 

Hearing this my eyebrow twitched and just was going give her a piece of my mind, the system hurriedly continued.

[World Choice function gives the host three choices in particular events which might result in reward or loss depending on what hosts chooses. This uses the law of causality to predict what is going to happen and how to change 'what is going to happen or not happen to will happen or will not happen' and uses the system reward ability to reward host which will depend on the type of upcoming choice that host have to make.]

'Ok, that was fucking confusing and I only able to understand that this function will predict future and will give me choices and rewards.'

[No host it is not predicting future, future can be changed by knowing what is going to happen, but this function will create best possible options for host to choose to reach a particular point, but it is not compulsory for host to choose any of those options.]

'It is so frustrating to not able understand my own advantage *sigh*' I sighed in my mind.

'And what are these Level 3 Skill upgrade card, Mythical Lottery card and universal stat points?'

[Host, skill upgrade cards is the cards which can upgrade skillset to next mastery, there are seven levels of lottery card, Level 1 card can make a skill in beginner mastery to intermediate, and level 2 card can take it to Advance mastery and level 3 can make it a Master level skillset from beginner.]

[Whereas due to due to the unsealing of lottery function host can now purchase or get rewarded by one of the six Lottery card, the six level of lottery card from low to high are Bronze, Silver, Gold, Legendary, Mythical and God]

[Percentage of chances to get items from a particular card.

(Note: B, S, G, L, M, G represent Lottery card level from low to high.)

[As for Universal stat points, they are as simple as they sound. These points can increase any stat even Charm.]

'Wow, ok just WOW. That is just too much of a cheat and I like it' I said in my mind with a grin.

[Yeah? It is not host. When you think about how you are being hunted down by heaven and helped by a supreme entity with unknow intention you will understand it is not much of cheat at all. You just think that now because of the mindset that you have deal with only the son of heaven of this galaxy but believe me the powerful you will become the more you understand that these functions of system you think of as cheats will be nothing in front of Heaven's favorite that has a lots of Fate value when you won't be able to kill or extensively harm them without them getting an abnormally powerful savior or an unexpected treasure.] the female voice said in a solemn voice.

Hearing her words my excitement calmed down and I internally nodded my head with a serious expression.

'You are right, thanks for the reminder.'

[It's my pleasure host.]

'I should call you by some name now that I know you are a conscious being not just an A.I and you should call me Leon.'

[Ok Leon but what will you name me?] she said in a curious voice.

I smiled internally and said 'How about Grace? You became a saving grace to me by giving me a second chance in life.'

[It is nice, I like it!] Grace said in an excited mature voice.

'That's good.'

'Now can you show me my status'

Seeing the interface again I focused on the new skills added, where Threads of causality was greyed out probably sealed only leaving Threads of mana which probably its degraded version.

[Threads of mana (Basic): Allows user to weave strands of mana into intricated patterns and shapes.
