The Blood Drop Test
Soon, a table with a bowl of water was set up in the center of the room. All the guests circled around as Shao Wenbo was ushered to the front, along with his supposed wife, brother-in-law, and son. Xie Yixiang followed him anxiously, praying that this would prove Shao Wenbo's innocence.
"Alright, kid, come here." The man pulled the child to the table and pricked his index finger with a needle, ignoring the little boy's cry of pain. Then he held the child's finger over the bowl and squeezed out a drop of blood. Everyone watched the crimson droplet fall into the water.
"Shao Wenbo, your turn." The man stared at Shao Wenbo across the table.
Shao Wenbo hesitated. Everyone looked at him expectantly. He threw one last look over his shoulder for Wang Jingyuan and his friends from the modern world, but they were in the back talking quietly amongst themselves. There was no way out. He was on his own.
