The Pirate System

What? Pirate System? What's going on?

Not too long ago, I got a notification on a blue screen. The screen appeared out of nowhere and looked like something straight out of sci-fi movies.

I reread the screen.

[The Pirate System Has Been Activated]

I was surprised, to the point where I lost my way and found myself in a lonely alley.

Okay, now what? Will this screen appear forever?

Fortunately, the screen disappeared, but another huge screen replaced it. This time, its color was purple. This screen, however, had a title.

Instructions.

The screen had information about what was going on. I swiped through the screen like a mobile screen and read the whole document.

This 'screen' was part of a system. The instruction was short and did not explain much. However, it described the world of One Piece as well as some other subjects.

After I read the instructions, the screen automatically changed again. It still kept its purple color, but now it contained tabs.

[Modification] was one of them. All the other tabs were grayed-out. Unfortunately, the system was reluctant to tell me what the other grayed-out tabs were.

The tab, [Modification], was as its name suggested. Thus, I could modify myself through the use of [Modification] functionality. Quite literally!

After I opened the [Modification] tab, it showed my attributes.

Name: Ethan Hart

Race: Human

Rank: non

Strength: 12

Speed: 8

Stamina: 13

Haki: 7

Talent: None

Inventory: None

Coins: 1000

A modification would require the use of my belongings, primarily money. The system already converted my money into coins. It seems one berry is equal to one coin.

The modification tab included that much.

As the other tabs were not available for some reason, the system's functionalities were minimal.

I played around with the system and experimented.

The modification tab had a button at the top right. As the information in the instruction noted, I touched the button, and it led me to another screen.

The screen was very similar to the [Modification] screen. Again, all the attributes were laid out, but this time, an editing option was available.

The editing option could change attributes, but it required the spending of coins. So, I tried to increase my attributes, and it worked.

Name: Ethan Hart

Race: Human

Rank: non

Strength: 12

Speed: 9

Stamina: 13

Haki: 7

Talent: None

Inventory: None

Coins: 900

I increased my speed by one point, and it cost me 100 coins. Interestingly, the subsequent increase in speed was labelled with 200 coins.

It seems the rate increases with every stat added. Can't have the user spam increase now, can they?

I used the remaining coins to increase my speed again. Rika was faster than me, so investing in my speed was a wise decision.

The following stat upgrade cost was 300 coins. However, the cost did not double. Instead, it increased by 100 coins. This was good news.

With zero coins remaining, I increased my speed by three more points and reached twelve. Surprisingly, my stamina also increased by one point.

I guess it makes sense as I would need more stamina for more speed. So, to try my new speed, I planned to run to the marine headquarter.

"let's see how fast I can reach the headquarter."

I steadied myself.

"3…2…1!"

Whoosh!

So fast!

I could not believe what had happened.

It had taken me around ten minutes to reach the marine base with Rika. This time, however, it took only a few minutes. Again, I was surprised at my speed. I was running at double the speed of myself before the stat increase.

I can't believe that a simple four points to my speed stat can increase my speed by this much. The system was like an omnipotent being. I could already imagine the power I could get using the system.

I arrived at the main entrance of the marine base. The base had no doors. Instead, the marine entrance was guarded by many soldiers.

Now, on to my plan. Helmeppo might have told Luffy and the other that the marines are preparing to execute Zoro. So, I have to take advantage of this situation and use it to my advantage.

I circled around the base, trying to memorize the exterior structure of the base. Helmeppo had not arrived yet. Because of my speed, I was faster than Helmeppo.

I planned to start my plan as soon as Helmeppo arrived and complained to his father. Taking advantage of the fight between Luffy and Axe-hand Morgan was what I was aiming for.

I collected stones and woods and gathered them near the entrance of the marine base. Then, using the lighter that I found in the thief's cloth, I lighted the wood and enclosed it between the stone. This way, only smoke will appear, and the fire will not spread.

The four guards noticed the smoke and went to check on it. The time taken by the soldier to inspect the fire was short, but that was all I needed. Because of my speed, I had no problem entering the marine base.

Fortunately, there were no Visual Den Den Mushi. The officials probably thought that a small place like Shells Town was not worth the money.

Good thing for me, of course!

The inside of the base was not different from any housing. There were stairways leading to the top of the tower, probably where Morgan was trying to stand his statue. The base was quite empty. Only a few soldiers were moving from one room to another.

All the rooms were labeled. For example, some were labeled as 'ROOM #1', 'KITCHEN #2', 'TOILET #1', etc.

The one I want is 'TREASURE ROOM XX' or 'OFFICE.'

I searched around for rooms that held valuables. Then, around a corner, I nearly clashed with a marine soldier but quickly ran in the opposite direction.

This is going to be a bit troublesome. This cloth is also not helping. One quick glance and they will know I'm an intruder.

Luckily, while searching for other rooms, I found the dressing room. So I entered the dressing room, and to my surprise, another soldier was already there!

"Roony, you're back," the soldier said.

He did not look back. Rather, he could not. He was changing his cloth and putting his cap on. I did not dare stay still. As soon as he turned back, I punched him in the face.

"WHAT! What are you doing?"

My hand hurts! I'm still weak. Only my speed has increased, not my strength.

Without letting the soldier recover, I breeze past him to get behind him. I took a shirt from one of the hangers and covered his whole head with it.

The soldier panicked and tried to take the cloth off his head. I punched him in his confusion. Finally, It took a couple of hits to knock him out.

I hope he is not dead. I don't want my hands dirty yet.

Fortunately, the soldier lived to see another day. I tied him up using some cloth and locked him in a closet. I, then, found a marine dress that fitted min well.

With this, blending with the marine soldiers should be easy.

I left the dressing room, still in search of a treasure room. Still, after searching the lower flowers, I found nothing.

Smash**

Ahh, that must be the statue. It took them a while, but it seems they have arrives.

Luffy and Koby had arrived at the marine base, and Luffy probably destroyed the statue of Axe-Hand Morgan.

The whole base had alarms go off. All the soldiers were equipping guns and heading outside.

The soldiers were a bit panicked and thus did not see me going opposite to their direction. So I rush through all the rooms using the opportunity, checking only those that were not standard rooms and kitchens.

I exited a room and suddenly came across somebody…..Luffy

"Hah? You're that guy from the restaurant. Why did you run away?"

Luffy was carrying Helmeppo with him. They were probably on the way to retrieve Zoro's sword. I acted as if I knew nothing and ran past them. Neither did I have the time, nor did I want to talk with them.

"Weird. Who is that guy?"

Luffy questioned himself but dismissed it and left. I ran ahead with a massive sigh of relief. On the top floor of the marine base, I finally found the primary office.

"Don't waste your time," I said

"Tsk. Who are you," replied a girl.

The girl I was speaking to was Nami. She was searching for a map of the Grand Line. But Buggy The Clown had already taken the map.

"The map was taken by Buggy the Immortal Clown. You better leave, or I'll call the Axe-Hand Morgan."

That is obviously a bluff. Morgan is currently fighting with Luffy. I can't have her take other treasures too.

Nami still did not believe me and kept on searching for the map. Maybe she thought she could handle me.

"Check the safe behind the wines."

Nami hesitated but still checked the safe. There she found the 'map.' It was a message left by buggy that stated that he had the map.

"Now, do you believe me? there is no map, so leave right now."

I sprinted and appeared right in front of her. I wanted to scare her or bluff my way out. The plan worked, and she left through the window without saying anything.

Now that she is gone, where does Morgan keep his valuable? There must be tax collected money somewhere, and from the looks of Nami, except the 'map', there is nothing.

I searched the whole room but did not find anything.

There is nothing here. The room is too small to hold anything of value…Wait. The room is way too small!

The room was much smaller than other rooms. The marina base building was cylinder in shape and had the same room structure. There were boxes and painting in the office room.

I carefully removed every painting and box that were attached to the wall. Behind one of the big boxes was a door. The door was locked.

It seems I have to be a bit more violent.

I took some steps back and steadied myself. I ran using as much energy I could use. Using the momentum of my body, I punched the door. The door was broken into many pieces.

The room beyond the door was dark. Fortunately, there was a switch. A single bulb illuminated the room. The whole room was filled with all kinds of stuff.

What caught was eyes were the gold coins. I was expecting printed money, but a corner of the room was filled with gold coins.

Finally! Some money or gold, not that it matters to me. Now, how do I put all these valuables into the system?

I touched the gold coins to inspect them, but unexpectedly, a screen popped up.

[Convert into coins?]

Yes plz!

The gold coins vanished into thin air. When I looked into my coin, it had reached 140,000. I could probably power myself like crazy with so many coins, but I planned to do something else with them.

Time to unleash the true potential of The Pirate System.
