One Alpha, two Betas

Twelve years ago, shandy Foxwick died in a dark alley in Los Angeles, two hundred feet away from Beverly hills and Evie Macalister was born. Evie has long buried her past and is content with the life she now lives ( even if it means having to pack up and get out of town on short notice whenever she senses a wolf in town) But the past has a knack for showing up when we least expect and biting us in the ass. Just when she finally finds a place that feels like home and starts to make friends, her past decides to rear its ugly head. Now she's faced with two equally tough choices, should she face her fears and risk her life to save the innocents that need her help, or damn everybody to hell and run like she's always done.

Chapter 7

EVIE'S APARTMENT BUILDING

( SPENCE)

By Jove, she was BEAUTIFUL. With her gorgeous green eyes, creamy white skin and dark brown curls cascading down her back, she looked good enough to eat, a fact his brain and other parts of his body refused to let him forget.

" You have the writing person." She blurted out.

" No." He told her with a shake of his head.

" I assure you I have the right person," he added.

" No you don't." She argued, letting her bags drop.

" I have no idea what you're talking about." She insisted.

" Ohh, but I think you do." He said with a smirk.

"But I don't " she argued, wringing her hands in what he would have been tricked into believing was distress if he didn't know the Foxwicks, but he did know them, quite well infact, and hell would freeze over before he let himself be taken in by one of their tricks again, even if the trickster was the most beautiful woman he had ever met.

" Cut it out, Foxwick," he snapped.

"I don't have the time to play games with you,I have lives to save, something I'm sure no one like you will understand." He added.

" My name is Evie Macalister." She insisted. " I don't know any Foxwicks."

" Yeah right." Spence scoffed.

" It's your call, Foxwick," he added.

" We can do this the hard way where you tell me what I want to know right here, right now, or the hard way where I take you with me, and get the truth out of my way, your call." He finished.

" Fine." She agreed, raising her hands, palm up in surrender.

" I was born Shandy Foxwick, but I left that and all things Foxwick behind twelve years ago." She said.

" This is who I am now." She added, spreading her arms.

" Bullshit." He snapped.

" I've heard a lot of bullshit in my life, Foxwick, but this certainly takes the cake." He added.

" It's the truth," Evie said.

" Enough already." He snarled.

" Since you won't stop trying to pull the wool over my eyes, I have no choice but to take you back with me," Spence announced.

" No," Evie protested, taking a couple of steps backwards.

" You seem to be under the impression that you have a choice, Foxwick." He drawled. " You don't." He added.

" No," she protested again. " I can't go with you."

" Yes you can." He assured her, covering the distance between them in eight long strides.

" Good thing you're already packed isn't it?" He asked, nodding at the bags on the floor as he stood in front of her.

" No." Evie protested again, trying to sidestep him. Spence's hand snaked out and wrapped around her wrist.

" Come quietly, Foxwick, and I won't have to hurt you." He murmured.

"I'm not coming with you." Evie protested again, trying to dislodge his grip.

" Alright then." He smiled at her, before raising his other hand and pressing his thumb into the throbbing vein on her neck.

Slinging her limp body over his shoulder, he clipped her suitcase to his belt, hooked an arm through the straps of her duffel bag and carted both woman and bags away from their home.

FIVE HOURS LATER SPENCE'S RENTED CABIN EVIE

Even with a foggy brain, unusually heavy eyelids and a mouth that felt like it was full of mold and fungus, Evie knew she wasn't in her bed.

What happened? She wondered as she tried to pry her eyes open, had she let Gina into letting her drink too much last night and ended up crashing on her couch ( it wouldn't be the first time), or had she once again drank away a week's salary at the bar, and ended up crashing on the couch in the back room ( wouldn't be the first time)

Both theories were highly plausible and either of them could have been reality, if not for one small detail.... whatever it was she was lying on, it certainly didn't feel like a couch.

And it was that steak she was smelling. Neither Gina's house nor the bar had a grill.

A sudden clang had her jolting upright, her eyes tearing open of their own accord.

For a few short seconds, her brain was too groggy to recognize the man that had just slammed a tray of food onto the metal table beside the bed, and was standing there with his hands in his pockets smirking at her.

" Welcome back to the world of the living Foxwick." He drawled.... as it turned out that was all she needed to get her senses and memories back.

" You!!!!" She screeched, throwing off the bed covers and trying to get off the bed..... she didn't succeed.

Not only were both of her ankles chained to either side of the bed, a silver pair of handcuffs were clamped to her right wrist, the other half hooked to the holes in the bed frame.

" No!!!!!!" Evie screeched, squirming and wriggling. " Please let me go." She pleaded.

"I will," Spence assured her.

"As soon as you give me the information I want." He hastened to add, effectively dampening the gleam of hope that had come into her eyes.

Evie sighed heavily and let herself go limp against her bindings.

" How many times do I have to tell you?" She asked him.

" I don't know what you want, my ties with the Foxwicks ended more than a decade ago." She added.

" I don't believe you." Spence deadpanned.

" You have to!" Evie cried. " It's the truth."

" Alright then." Spence murmured, reaching into his pocket to take out a tiny key and unlock the handcuffs before helping her to sit up.

" Eat up." He said, dropping the tray on her lap. " You're going to need your strength."

"You can't keep me here." Evie attempted to protest.
