"I can't read his mind" Charles said telepathically to Erik who immediately frowned a bit before putting on the helmet that had been in his hand all this while
"It seems you aren't the only telepathy in the house" Erik replied using the established connection.
"No, I can't sense his mind, it's as though he doesn't exist" Charles replied
"Is that possible?"
"No, you may be able to hide your mind from me but I can at least sense your existence as long as you are before me, but I can't sense him, at all" Charles as he continued to observe the man welcoming them into the house.
"Charles, the boy," Erik said as he also physically nudged Charles while pointing in David's direction.
"David, call your mother… I think these men would prefer talking to her not me" His grandfather said as he stood by the side with the bat by his side.
"She's on her way, what about grandma… I think he may be able to help her" David replied while pointing towards Charles
"Nah she doesn't agree to such things," The old man said as a slight glint of hope appeared in his eyes.
"Who's it?" Sharon asked as she came down and joined David at the bottom of the stairs.
Her heart was still beating quickly even though she had been told that it was safe.
"My chance to go to school freely" David replied in his usual neutral voice
"Good day ma'am, My name is Charles Xavier and this is my associate, Erik Lehnsherr, we are from Xavier's Institute for the Gifted" Charles introduced
As he said so, he stretched out his hand for a handshake but instead, he saw the lady turn back to look at the body as though seeking his approval and just as weirdly, the boy nodded and the lady shook him.
"Sharon Stone, I am assuming you both are here for my son? " She said with newfound confidence
"How… yes ma'am, I am very sure that you all are aware of his supernatural potential. I was hoping that it would be possible for him to join the school where he would be able to be free amongst his peers" Charles said in an effort to convince her
This was one of those few times that he couldn't actively learn what the other party was thinking so he could adjust his pitch accordingly.
"Charles, my powers aren't working" Erik suddenly announced through their telepathic connection, making the man turn towards David.
Seeing and knowing their interaction, David smiled and waved before returning to normal, as usual, he was hovering a few inches above the ground and his facial expression remained as neutral as possible.
"Your son seems to display an incredible level of control over his abilities however, the school was created for the purpose of letting people like him… like us learn to use our powers in order to defend ourselves and not harm those we love" Erik joined in much to Charles's surprise.
