The Time Before

Aina stood still with her mouth agape. The scene that had unfolded had shocked her to the core. She knew that Lenin was at the Nascent Soul Realm, but she didn't expect this.

It took alot of time to solidify one's foundation when a breakthrough was experienced, but from the battle she just watched, it was as if Lenin was used to tapping into that kind of power.

Aina had always been suspicious of Lenin since their fight with the life sucking ant. She had heard of geniuses who had a sudden explosion in cultivation in the realms above, this allowed her to somehow understand the situation with Lenin.

But what she couldn't wrap her head around was the power Lenin had used during the battle with the ant. That power was definitely not the power of a qi cultivator. It seemed to be more of a mage's power.

Even so, Aina had not seen any mage use magic like that. To compress flame magic to that extent without a spell was something she had not heard of. This further fueled her suspicion of Lenin, but she never pursued it.

But from what she had just seen, Lenin was definitely hiding something from them, and this hurt her alot!

........

Princess Swallow-heaven's eyes glistened with marvel. Lenin had far exceeded her expectations. There was no usage of tactics or advantage in experience, it was just pure overwhelming power.

She turned her head and stole a glance at a beautiful woman with flowing white hair.

Seeing Freda's stoic expression, Princess Swallow-heaven shook her head and smirked.

'It seems this boy took after his mother. I expect no less from a monster's child'

As the principal was contemplating the events, a man with a powerful aura who sat below her was intrigued. He had come here without expecting much, but each match surprised him. But what surprised him the most was the match that had just taken place.

The people in the crowd didn't know about this boy. The only boy without power who was admitted into the Immortal Institute. Such a thing had never happened before.

During the admission process, a huge turmoil was caused among the upper echelons of the strongest powers. This was due to one person. Princess Swallow-heaven, his daughter.

She had suddenly come out and said she would accept Lenin into the Immortal Institute. There were many oppositions, but she surpressed them all. Even he, Mr. Ravine himself, could do nothing against a powerhouse like his daughter.

That didn't mean he was weak though, just that Princess Swallow-heaven was on another level.

All of a sudden, they had received news that the boy who was once mortal had suddenly become a cultivator, and his cultivation had been rising steadily.

This made all the higher ups pay more attention to the boy. Maybe they could use him for their goals.

.......

Even though alot of people were stunned due to the events that had taken place, the people that couldn't wrap their heads around the situation were the students.

The students were the people who had had the most interaction with Lenin, and so knew how powerless he was.

The Immortal Institute was a place that prioritized one rule. Survival of the fittest. The law of the jungle prevailed. Therefore teachers and staff members did not intervene in bullying, sudden deaths or disappearance of students.

By this logic, Lenin should have been dead by now. But it was not so. Obviously, he was being protected from the shadows, even if he didn't know it. Well, if it was among the first years, he didn't even need that protection.

Another thing to note was that the first years were new and did not know what true ruthlessness was. Most deaths and disappearance took place among the upper students, and of course the first years were not allowed to enter the domain of the second years and above.

The second years were also not allowed to enter the domain of the third years and above. It went on like that.

Matyr sat down quietly as she watched Lenin go back to his seat. Unlike her fellow students, she did not have a look of surprise on her face, rather she had an intrigued look on her face.

......

Far above the stadium, about 20 miles away from the arena, a lady sat on a flying sword that hovered in the air.

She had pink hair and beautiful small lips. She wore an extremely short jeans skirt that revealed a part of her undergarments. She had long nails that were painted a bright purple. Her black leather jacket was perfectly matched with a pink crop top.

Her index finger was scratching her cheek with her nail. Droplets of blood appeared on her cheek. She panted heavily as her cheeks flushed a bright pink. Each pant she made released steam from her mouth.

'Ugh. I was just passing by after completing my mission. I didn't expect to see something this spectacular. A man like this, ugh!'

She moaned in ecstacy and wrapped her hands around her body. Sweat dripped from her face.

'I'll have to keep an eye on him. I want him. I want to break him!'

.......

The ranking tournament continued on without a hitch. By this time, almost all the first years had fought. The draft of the rankings had already been released, allowing students to know their current standing among their colleagues.

Most of the rankings were unlikely to change even in the official list because most of the students were not eligible to fight anymore.

Brian had made it into the top 50, while Aina was ranked thirty-sixth.

Lenin on the other hand, had not lost a match.

At this point, he was ranked third place amongst the students. The person ranked first was obviously the first year King, but no one knew who he was.

Even so, he was not the only person dominating. Matyr had won all her matches easily. Most of her wins was a flawless victory. Everyone was anticipating the match up that was most likely to happen.

Ms. Fleek jumped onto the stage. She smirked as she looked at the sheet in her hand.

"The next match is between, student number 500 and number 10!"
