Permission To Meet The Duke

Kim Su Won was filled with guilt. She was making her younger brother study for her own gain but she did not have a choice, did she? She would kill three birds with one stone if she were able to convince her father to let this kid study. He would be able to find work better than being a soldier, she could get to study through him and he would also come under the protection of the duke, unknowing to everyone.

"O-Of course! Why would big sister ask if that were not the case? Just tell me if you want to study or not," she replied to his innocuous question, patting his cheek lightly.

Adults just failed to understand how sensitive kids could be. This kid, despite being just nine years old, already knew what boundaries he could work in. It was heartbreaking to see for Kim Su Won. Screw those adults!

Chris nodded furiously, his chubby cheeks jiggling with each shake. Kim Su Won could not help but pinch them a bit. "It's decided then. You are now not allowed to go outside this wing, alright? I still need to get permission from our father but I don't think it would be a problem." Kim Su Won patted the cute kid's head again. How she wished she could do more for him, but she did not have any power at all and her past behavior definitely did not help.

Ugh, she really wanted to kill the previous owner of this body once again. She had to wonder though, the transmigrated businesswoman must have had similar issues too. Why did the author never mention that the businesswoman had to learn the written language from scratch? There were so many details omitted. But again, how much the author herself could remember? It was a shame though, she could really use facts like these in advance.

"Anna, please go and ask for permission to meet the duke via this letter. The sooner, the better," Kim Su Won ordered Anna once again once she was satisfied with the language she had dictated to the maid. Anna was stunned at the eloquence if her miss's. 

There was a determination in Emmeline's eyes that really inspired Anna as well. She was very glad to see that her miss was finally thinking about her future. Moreover, she really wanted to put shame to those smug faces of the servants of elder miss and first young master. Hmph! Her miss was a genius like no other and she was going to make sure that the fact was known to everyone once her miss started her training. She hurried away to ask for permission and she did get it for the same evening.

"Miss, let's get you ready," Anna came back, huffing and puffing, sweat pouring from her temples. She recalled all the details of how the duke was quite shocked and disgruntled when he saw Anna, thinking that she had made another trouble. But when he read the letter, he heaved a sigh of relief.

He had wanted to meet her right away, wanted to hear why this daughter was becoming so active suddenly. 

Kim Su Won nodded in satisfaction. "But why do I need to dress up now if we are meeting him in the evening?" she asked curiously.

"What do you mean miss? It is already 11am. We have to put so many layers and then you also need to learn a few lessons in how you are going to walk in the heavy dress. Do you want everyone to suspect…," Anna was rambling on, without realizing that they were in the living room and Chris was also there. Moreover, the guards outside were also trying to gather as much information as possible, spies sent by her sister and mother. All the conversations about her so called amnesia and her illiteracy were always in hushed tones.

Kim Su Won immediately stood up from her sofa in a panic and placed both her hands on Anna's mouth. She realized how tiny her hands were. Moments like these really made her feel like a kid. Her simple dress fluttered and Chris was startled too.

Anna swallowed her words back that were about to come out of her mouth instantly. She had almost landed her miss in trouble just now.

"L-let's get ready then. My legs do feel weak and I will certainly need to learn to walk on my two feet again with those heavy dresses, hahaha," Kim Su Won replied in a normal voice to let the outsiders know the reason for her bizarre question and her maid's equally bizarre reply.

They headed to the dressing room. Anna opened the huge door of the living room when Kim Su Won saw the two newly appointed guards that she suspected to be her family's spies. They did not even greet her, just stood there like statues. At moments like these, she also realized that she had no standing in the family even if she was the legitimate child. Life was just so unfair for her but it was all the original owner of this body's fault.

Anyway, she was going to flip her image, she could not go on like this.
