Obsidian's Moon

Gold Tier Winner of WPC #139 *** Two souls were prophesied to meet and fall in love. They were made for each other, chosen by the moon goddess to complete each other. But what would happen when something threatens to break them apart? Do you think a love predestined by a deity will prevail? *** Lara looked up and she froze when her eyes came in contact with the bluest eyes she had ever seen. "You are...?" He asked. Lara caught her breath and froze up. She can't answer him! She already knew the CEO was ridiculously handsome. But she didn't think he was this handsome! He already asked her a question but all she could think of was... Noah James Smith looked intimidatingly beautiful in his company photo but in person, he's more than that. His photo didn't do him any justice! He was devilishly handsome, and very intense too. His electric blue eyes looked like they could see into her soul if he wanted to. And she was melting like ice-cream in front of him. Noah looked at the woman who just entered his office and his eye zeroed in on her. She looks like a dear in headlights. Her lips were gaping and she looked stunned after seeing his face. Did she hear what I said? He thought inwardly as he stood up and walked around his desk. "Who are you?" he asked again, and that got Lara out of her trance. "Oh! Uhm. I-uhh. I-I'm nobody..." She replied after struggling for words. Then she remembered what she came there to do and approached his desk. "Actually, I came here to deliver this…" Noah casually sat on his desk and crossed his arms over his chest, his eyes watching her as she squirmed under his gaze, holding the envelop close to her chest as she awkwardly approached him and his desk. "I'm... I'm going to put this here for you, sir..." she said and placed the brown envelope just beside where he sat and then backed away like she'd been burned by his presence. She couldn't even look him in the eye. Noah glanced at the envelope then backed at Lara who was now awkwardly playing with her fingers. "I'll be going now, sir. I'm sorry for disturbing you-" "You haven't answered my question yet." he stopped her and she froze again. "P-pardon?" "What's your name?" "I-uhh..." Lara started to panic. Is he going to fire me? Noah looked at her ID. "Looking at your ID from this distance, it seems that you're one of my employees." "Ah yes, I'm-" She bit her lip and deflated like a balloon. Will I get reprimanded if he discovers I'm just a newbie? "Why did you stop? Is it really hard for you to tell me your name?" Lara immediately shook her head. "N-no. No, sir. I just- uhh. I find you intimidating…" she unconsciously said and gasped. What did I just say? Noah didn't respond but the corner of his lips turned up for a second there before it vanished as soon as it appeared. "I see..." [Time Skip] Noah looked outside, staring aimlessly at the bright city lights outside his window while twirling his drink in his hands. His mind was deep in thought. And it was mostly about the fact that he had found his mate. He's been waiting for her to appear in his life ever since he reached adulthood. And now that she's here, he couldn't stop his urge to possess her. Claim her as his. When their eyes met for the first time, he immediately felt the pull between them. He wanted her the instant he laid his eyes on her and she was a new employee in his company. "Lara Louis…" Noah murmured her name and he couldn't help but think about her eyes. Her expressive auburn eyes that was hidden underneath her glasses. *** Discord: https://discord.gg/VmAWdAr Disclaimer on the cover photo! It is not mine, guys. Sea Breeze

13. Sea Breeze

Noah clenched his fist on the steering wheel. His knuckles turned white due to the tension applied in his grip. On the national highway, He accelerated by stepping on the gas. He didn't have a specific destination in mind, but it was clear that he was getting away from the company.

He'd been on the road for over an hour now and he wasn't about to turn around. Not yet, at the very least.

Noah's thoughts returned to what had happened between him and Lara inside the elevator. He completely lost control of himself there. Now he had done something unforgivable to his mate.

He forced his desires on her, and he was now profoundly regretting his actions. He was rash and drowned himself in jealousy that his actions made him into a unthinking beast he didn't want to become.

Noah couldn't help but curse himself as he remembered what he'd done. He must have upset her in some way, and he tried to make it right by erasing her memory of what happened, but he couldn't.

When Lara collapsed into his arms and fell unconscious, he figured that he could use his power to have her forget everything. However, he discovered she was immune to his influence, which was unusual given that most people, even vampires, were not.

In actual fact, Noah has the power to compel a vampire to disclose secrets that they did not want to reveal. Furthermore, he was ten years old when his abilities manifested, and only those close to him were aware of his potential. So it was a secret.

Noah realized he was on his way to the city port. He pulled over to the side of the road for a moment to look for a parking spot where he could sit outside and listen to the waves, hoping that it would help him relax.

After turning off his engine, Noah looked out the window. He exited his car and sat on the hood. As he looked ahead, the wind whipped through his obsidian-colored locks. The view was breathtaking. The sky was darkening, and the sun was steadily setting on the horizon. The clouds were a rich red and orange hue.

The sky seemed to be ablaze.

It was a beautiful sight. His soul, on the other hand, was in excruciating pain.

He must have taken her by surprise with his cruel behavior a while ago. Lara was half immortal, but she was clearly weaker than a normal vampire. It's no surprise that the vampiric race disliked their princess. He'd heard stories about before they met. But he didn't believe them to be real. He wondered what kind of life she'd led in that cold, ruthless world surrounded by enemies. It was clear she couldn't put her faith in anyone there. The only person on her side must be her father, the King.

But Noah doesn't care what the vampires think of her. He didn't give a damn what they think. The only thing that mattered was her. He accepts her for who she is and what she represents.

Lara may have royal vampire blood in her veins, but she was first and foremost his mate. She was the other half of his soul. And everything else is at the bottom of his priority list.

And what occurred in the elevator was not meant to happen. Not yet, at any rate. Noah planned for things to move slowly between them that he hired her to be Stefani's replacement because he wanted to get to know her one at a time as a person. But now that he had crossed the line, he can't avoid telling her the truth.

"She's the first and last woman that'll match your soul, Noah. You have to make this right. Otherwise, you and your royal butt will be sorry for the rest of your lives." Stefani's last words troubled him. Before he left, she promised to cover for him.

Lara was alone, and he wanted to be the first one to greet her when she wakes up, but Stefani insisted that he was not stable yet and that he needed to cool his head first.

That's why he's here. Trying to get away and clear his mind. The sea breeze seems to work well.

Noah closed his eyes. Inhaling the salty scent of the sea while remembering his mate. He recalled her bright smile. It was stunning. It illuminated her whole face but it wasn't him who made her smile like that. Noah blinked open his eyes. How did Michael manage to make her smile like that? All she did was act nervous whenever he was near her...

Noah had no idea that his meditation had lasted so long that the sun had set and it was now night. The stars had already appeared in the sky, and the temperature had dropped.

Lara must have returned to her apartment by this point. He'll speak to her later, when he's more in control of himself. For the time being, he will also return home.

Next chapter will be Lara's turn!
