38. Good news, Finally

The pictures slip from my grip and scatter on the floor all around us. The image of George and me in a passionate kiss right in front of Michael's old mansion stares back at me.

"Y–you still have these pictures?"

"Yes, I do, baby. And in multiple copies." Vanessa retorts, exchanging an amusing look with the weird guy.

"Also, you don't wanna imagine how devastated your dear loving husband will be when he sees them."

My heart begins thudding loudly against my chest, "You're gonna show them to him?"

"But of course. It's just a matter of time. Especially if you don't provide that money early. Tick tock tick, your time is going."

Having lost my appetite, I drop the bag into the trash bin before entering my apartment. I stay up all night, wondering where I can get such an amount of money in the 48 hours Vanessa had given me. All of Michael's properties, even the ones he gave me were all confiscated by Dave.
