Chapter Twenty-Three

Sarah felt a nice warm bed underneath her. She couldn't remember the last time she had slept in a bed. It felt like ages ago.

She sat up sluggishly, trying to figure out where she was, and waited for her eyes to focus enough to take in her surroundings.

She rubbed at them, clearing out all the gunk that had accumulated while she was asleep.

Her body felt heavy. Even moving her arms felt like a chore to her, and all her muscles were stiff to the point of aching.

Sarah got a good look around the room when her eyes finally adjusted. It didn't take long to view all there was in the room. It was a small bedroom with a twin-sized bed, which she was currently sitting on, and a wardrobe on the opposite wall with a desk beside it. The desk was sitting by a window bare of any essentials, so Sarah doubted whoever lived in this room used it much.

Sarah's mouth started to water, and her stomach rumbled when the aroma of cooking meat and vegetables wafted into the room from the kitchen.
