Chapter Twenty-One

Carson coughed a few times before sitting up. The sun was peaking over the horizon, lighting up the surroundings, meaning he had been taking a dirt nap for quite some time. This was the second time he had been knocked unconscious by an explosion since meeting Sarah. He was beginning to wonder about his choices in trying to help the girl.

His throat felt dry and dusty as he surveyed his surroundings. So he uncorked his flask and rinsed his mouth out with the lukewarm water before taking several swallows.

His surroundings were barren and lifeless.

He couldn't find any signs of the forest they were just in. The trees must have disintegrated in the blast, destroying all the wildlife with it.
