Chapter Forty-Nine

Surprise." Elena came out of the kitchen holding a cake with lit candles and walked towards them. The four of them, Carson, Peter Adam, and Sarah, sat in the living room on a comfy sofa that Carson seemed to pull out of thin air when they returned from the business they had in the inner city, when Elena, for some reason brought in a cake.

Sarah glanced at Adam, wondering if it was his birthday or something. She knew Peter's birthday wasn't until the next day, and Sarah had no idea how old she was, let alone when her birthday was, so that only left two options Adam or Carson, but by the confused look Adam gave made her rethink her conclusions. She didn't have to ponder long after Elena's following words, though.

"Happy birthday Sarah, " Elena said as she set the cake down on a table. Sarah blinked at hearing her words. It wasn't her birthday, or at least she didn't think it was. Elena saw her confused stare and elaborated on the subject.
