Chapter 6
Amar snatched the remote and hit it on the floor , he walked to the television and threw it on the floor , it shattered into pieces just like the remote .
'What's wrong with this man ? He's breaking his own sweats' Mariam thought inwardly.
" I'm tired of trying to talk things out ! I'm tired Mariam " Amar shouted his voice echoing all around the almost empty house .
As expected, Basira immediately entered the parlor with wide eyes .
"Then leave me alone ! " Mariam replied back , forgetting the fact that she was warned never to raise her voice at her husband .
" Mariam....I .... I can't ! You're my responsibility! I can't just leave you ..... see the way you're saying it as if it is as easy as drinking water " Amar replied
"If you have ever considered me your responsibility, you would have told me that you're already married ! That you have a wife already " Mariam said her voice sounding so low like she's on the verge of tears , one blink and they it'll fall of.
Amar sighed and placed his plam on his forehead as he closes his eyes .
"What difference does it make Mariam? " He asked as he returned to sit beside her .
Mariam scoffed and replied "what difference does it make huh? Do you realize that you have broken the little trust I had for you .... And you're asking me the difference it makes "
Amar got up sharply and said " you know what Mariam.....it's now that I realize that you didn't actually love me ...you know what .... I'm done ! Go I've divorced you three times .... Im tired of trying to win over you " And with that he left the parlor and strode outside .
" Amar ! " Basira shouted and ran after him .
Mariam got up and went to her room , she packed all her belongings that she came to the house with . She oddly felt relieved about the divorce .
" Maybe I wasn't meant for him " she mumbled to herself .
She dragged her two boxes outside the house not knowing where to go .
She thought about going back to her parents house but she won't do so because they might mock her and might even not accept her again .
She decided to stay at a hotel before she buy her own house . A place she can actually call 'home' .
