Chapter 11

The next day , Ahmad kept on avoiding her in the office . Because of this , Mariam started doubting wether he heard what she said or not .   

        Mariam closed the files she was going through and decided to go and apologize. She made her way to his office with a tremendous heart beat .

         Mariam took a deep breath and then knocked on the black shiny door of Ahmad's office. She could hear some noises inside and the door wasn't opened so she gently knocked again .

       There was still no reply so she did what her mind told her to do .

Mariam slowly opened the door but she instantly regretted it when she saw Ahmad sitting down on his chair with a young girl plaiting his curly hair into braids .

       Ahmad's brown eyes shifted to look at Mariam . The girl behind him also raised up her head to look am Mariam and that's when Mariam noticed the girl's brown eyes that look just like that of Ahmad . 

"Sorry ..... I didn't mean to interrupt Sir " Mariam said in a stammer . She was about to leave when Ahmad stopped her by saying "what ? "

  Mariam felt awkward by the way the girl that's plaiting Ahmad's hair is looking at her .

       Mariam hesitated saying "it's nothing " . She quickly left his office and returned to her receptionist desk .

She called Hanan and asked her "what's the name of Sir's fiancé ? "

Hanan chuckled for no reason in particular and replied in a whisper "Sadiya "

"Don't tell me you like sir , if not why are you asking me this ? " Hanan asked

"No ... it's not what you're thinking " Mariam replied

        Hanan exhaled a breath of relief and dai "yes , it shouldn't be , moreover your own husband Amaru is handsome too "

Mariam felt a slight pain in her heart with the mention of his name .

"We've divorced " Mariam said .

Hanan was shocked for some seconds before she mumbled an "oh" and left the place .

Mariam arranged her desk ready to leave .

   She entered a taxi and went back to her hotel room .
