Chapter 5

In a long dark hallway illuminated by torches, the sound of running doorsteps quickly alerted the two guards standing in front of a wooden door. They stood still as statues alert for the intruder who was running towards them at a very fast pace.

The person who was running towards the guard was very excited. He was running towards the room and was about 5 feet away from the door when the guards cried, "HALT!" And the man came to an abrupt stop with the guards' spears just millimeters away from the man's face.

"Who are you and what is your business with our lord?" The guard on the left questioned him.

"I have urgent news to tell my lord. Please let me through." The man said to the guards.

"What is the news that you need to tell the lord? Just tell us and we can relay the news to him. There's no need for you to go in yourself." The guard on the right said.

"I can't. This is private news that the lord wants to hear in person. Please move so I can let him know." The man responded.

The guards looked at each other unsure of what to do when a voice sounded from inside the room they were guarding.

"Let him inside." And so the guards had no choice but to let this man enter the room.

The man entered the room and knelt down beside a bed with an old man laying down in it.

"Well," said the old man laying down in the bed. "Did you find the person I was asking you to find?"

"Yes my Lord, I found him." The man said. "He is from a very small country in the west by the water." The man informed him.

"That's good." The old man said with a relieved tone.

What's so special about this kid though? Why do you want to find him so bad?" The man asked. He's just a nobody from some insignificant place. Why waste your time on this kid? I think that-"

Suddenly the air surrounding the man pushed down on him till he could barely breathe and he was forced onto his knees in a kneeling position.

"Are you questioning me?" The old man in the bed asked, extremely angry. "How dare someone with your status try to question me! I may have grown older but my mind is still clear." The old man glares at the man who is gasping for breath on the ground, with a strong killing intent aimed towards this person.

"No my lord! I would never dare to question your wise words! I'm just some tiny person here. I was just curious. That's all. Forgive me! I'm sorry if this insignificant little person has offended you." The man says to the old man in the bed, desperately wanting to live.

"Humph! Forget it. Send over Yu Xuewei and you may leave now." The old man says.

"Yes my lord." The man then exits the room in a hurry, finds Yu Xuewei, and directs him towards their Lord's room.

The young man named Yu Xuewei enters the room and kneels on the floor, "Greetings my lord, what task might you need me to do this time?" He asks the old man.

"Nothing much." The old man says. "I just need you to go find a young boy and bring him here to me. Don't harm him. If I find a single hair in disarray, you will be in big trouble. Do you understand?"

"He is from a small country off to the west so it might take a while to find him. Try not to scare him too much when you do find him. Keep your killing intent in check it's spilling out as we speak right now. Also, try to befriend him. It would be in your best interest to do that."

"I will do as you wish." Yu Xuewei says

"Also I almost forgot." the old man says and hands Yu Xuewei a book. "Give the boy this book and have him learn it,"

Yu Xuewei takes the book and tries to fix his aura and leaves the room.

Fei Yuming stepped out of the house, looked up at the nice clear blue sky, and asked his system, Xiao Bai, "Where should I go now?"

"Xiao Bai thinks that Host should head to a larger city and earn some money before doing anything else".

Fei Yuming thought about it and agreed. He realized that he should probably try to get some money fast so he can then buy the cultivation technique that he needed. It would be very expensive because the book he needed would be extremely rare, so he set off down the road for the royal capital of the country.

Fei Yuming bought a horse to travel on and he journeyed along the dirt road through forests and grasslands and met people here and there. Luckily he didn't come across any trouble so far. Along the way, Xiao Bai would alert him if there were anything of value that he'd come across so he could sell them when he gets to the main royal capital. He ends up collecting various herbs, from spirit grass to rare spirit fruits. He sells all the spirit grasses along the way in each town he stopped at so he could get some money and empty out his bag.

About a month has passed since then. He arrived at the capital's entrance and waited in line to enter the city. The entrance fee was one silver that most people would have not spent just to gain access to the city for a day.

He found the merchant's building and sold all the herbs that he still had, then booked a room for a month and found a job in an alchemist's store as a clerk at the end of the day.

He was just getting cozy and asked his system what he should do after he had collected a lot of money when the system informed him of some surprising news.

"Host, it appears that someone is looking for you right now and he has just entered the city."

"Oh. What does this person want from me? I'm pretty sure I don't know anyone right now other than those I have already met. Have I offended anyone?" Fei Yuming asks with a slightly concerned and worried voice.

"It appears that this person doesn't have any bad intentions and he is just looking around. it seems like he is from a very influential family for he has some people following behind him." Xiao Bai says. "It looks like he is from the Yu family, but it doesn't look like we've seen this young man before in the capital."

"Maybe he just came back from a journey. But how does he know me? That's what I'm wondering..." Fei Yuming says and just shrugs and decides to think about it later and continues his job cleaning the shelves and making sure everything is organized and helping customers find the pills they need.

A few days later after Xiao Bai informed him about this young man, this same person came into the store and asked if there was a boy with Fei Yuming's description, everyone looked towards him and he stopped what he was doing.

"I think the person that you are looking for would be this young man, Fei Yuming." One of his older coworkers called him out hoping to gain favor with this person, but he just ignored the person and went straight to Fei Yuming and asked, "What is your name, young man?"

"My name is Fei Yuming sir, why might sir be looking for me?" Fei Yuming asked the man.

"Well, my name is Yu Xuewei, and I have been tasked to search for someone with your description in this place. You must go with me first and I shall explain it on the way there." The young man named Yu Xuewei said.

Without any further talk, Yu Xuewei told the shopowner that Fei Yuming wouldn't be coming in to work anymore and with that, he whisked Fei Yuming away with him back to the Yu clan's residence.
