Unknown Guest

After the stranger walked into the castle, he offered his weird greetings to king Levi and Queen Elena, on getting close to Arishem he became shocked and greeted..

“Master! I’m so glad to see you”

Every one was stunned because no one fully understood what he meant.

The Shabby looking man, stared at Arishem while muttering something under his breath, causing Arishem to blink his eyes repeatedly.

King Levi looked at the stranger and spoke “you can join us for dinner sir….”.

The stranger looked back at the delicacies placed on the long and wide dinner table, before replying...

“Thank you my King, but the dishes here are not to my liking, besides, I have somewhere very important to be”.

No one had ever spoken plainly to king Levi, like this stranger just did, causing jaws to drop at the table.

Levi didn’t take the stranger’s, reply, as an insult, instead he said….

“It’s understandable if you do not like the food, the servants of the castle will get you one that you like if you want”.

The stranger shook his head at Levi’s kind offer, before offering the king a bow, then placing his long shabby cloak on his body.

His gaze swept through the many present guests, before coming to settle on Arishem and Queen Elena, to whom he offered a slight bow, before turning around and walking out of the castle’s double doors, with his cloak leaving a trailing wisp of shadow created by the brightly lit candles.

Allegra watched as the stranger left and the silence was soon occupied as guests began discussing about what had just happened.

“Lady Allegra, it’s good to see you here” said a woman who had walked over, to stand beside Allegra.

“Where else would I be if not at my nephew’s celebration, Lady Sylvia. I must say, it’s quite shocking, seeing you here, considering what happened the last you came here, duchess” replied Allegra with a soft laugh at the end of her speech.

Sylvia’s face coloured red in embarrassment as she remembered that her husband had been drunk, and he had spilled many of their personal secrets. She soon schooled her facial features.

“Well, now that your brother the king has birthed a male heir, you should be more careful with those plans of yours” said Sylvia to Allegra, before walking out of there.

When Allegra turned around, she caught sight of Arishem with just Elena and there was no sight of Levi, so she decided to execute her plan.

Allegra had brought with her, a liquid poison, as colourless as water, only slightly thicker.

She went into the powder room, where there was no one, before applying the poison at the tip of her fingers.

Allegra walked over, to where Elena was seated, before looking at Arishem and then caressing his cheeks.

Elena wanted to stop Allegra, but since she was his aunt and they were in the public, she let her.

While touching Arishem’s face, Allegra had moved her fingers, closer to his mouth, and Arishem being an ignorant baby, sucked on her fingers.

Elena quickly picked Arishem, thinking he was hungry, she went to her room to feed him.

Allegra smiled triumphantly, before going to wash the poison, off her fingers.

When the entire celebration was over, the household if the castle and some of the guests who had stayed over, retired to bed.

While in Allegra’s room, she was so happy that tomorrow Arishem would no longer exist and nobody even noticed when she had poisoned the boy through her finger tips, all the while pretending to be a loving aunt.

Allegra thought ‘when they announce the death of the king’s son, I would go to the supreme house and complain about the next heir to the throne’.

King Levi had promised for everyone to go hunting tomorrow she might probably just use the chance to get rid of that whore of a queen.

When the next day arrived, she was surprised to see Levi playing with Arishem on Elena’s lap.

No matter how good Allegra was in executing her plans, she had failed to notice one thing, Arishem was not of this world and one more thing the devil never left his treasures unprotected.

Though Arishem was still a baby, there was this certain force guiding him, which was not visible to human’s eyes.

Whatever guided Arishem, was not of light but pure darkness.
