chapter 1- a second chance

I was awoken by the irritating screams of my mother. "Jack, get your ass ready for school!" I slowly stood up from the bed and stretched my body. She must have let me sleep in today; my watch read 7:15. I hastily gathered my uniform and any other necessities and made my way down the hall. Since no one was fighting upstairs, I figured that everyone had already gone downstairs for breakfast. I quickly opened the bathroom door, got undressed, and turned on the shower. My body started to get drenched in freezing water. I swiftly flipped the handle to the other side, but the temperature remained unchanged. god damn it Alisa .

After a short while, I hurriedly got dressed and went downstairs. My older brother Ryan spotted me and yelled, "Fucking Finally Jack!" Mom yelled at him in response, "How many fucking times do I have to tell you there is no cursing at the table?" Mom wasn't happy with his disrespect and was not pleased. I simply sat down at the table; I was too exhausted to care about Alisa's attempts to escalate the fight. "Our meal wouldn't have been cold if he hadn't woken up an hour later than everyone else." "Until your report card isn't covered in red lines, stop bothering your brother. Am I clear?"

After breakfast, we made our way to the front door. While we waited for mom to leave the driveway, my brother handed me a cigarette and a lighter and lit them. Alisa smacked it out of my hands and yelled, "If Elizabeth saw you too, I know she wouldn't be pleased." Ryan ignored her and said, "Well, Elizabeth's not here. The rest of the walk was in complete silence.

We arrived at the "prestigious" St. Chalice High School a few minutes later, and Alisa left with her "friends," leaving Ryan and me alone. "How are you feeling, Jack? " You've been unusually quiet. " Yeah, I just didn't get much sleep last night." Ryan continued to stare at me silently until he finally said, "Whatever you say, man, but before you go, remember Dared owes you 200 quid."

I started walking to our school's "sales" area, where Dared and his friends were always, and I saw him hiding in a corner with four other people; they ran away as soon as they saw me. Dared began begging on his knees, "I'll get your money tomorrow, please!"

I landed a right hook to the side of his head, causing him to collapse and knocking him out. I quickly searched his pockets, but all I found was an expensive-looking watch.

I walked over to my seat and sat down. Our teacher was a typical boring high school science teacher with no defining characteristics; he was one of the reasons I disliked school in the first place. "I'm going to return your assessment results, but first I'd like to speak with all of you." Please rise, Jack Edwards." I ignored him, but he continued, "How is this student, Ryan Edwards' brother, capable of getting full marks on all of his assignment's if the class average wasn't below 50%,

I'd suspect him of cheating!" I simply ignored our teacher as he continued his rant. It was finally break time after a couple of lessons.

I began walking up the stairs to the rooftop. It was the only place in the school where there were no degenerates. When I opened the door, my friends Daniel and Marilyn were already there. When I approached them, I was greeted by a lit cigarette. "Thanks." I leaned against the rail, and we smoked quietly. I could see the entire school , and it looked much better from up here. I was able to see everything. I began looking for Dared. He seemed suspicious today. I felt a push from behind and found myself falling down a 150-foot drop. I could hear my friends' screams.

When I turned around, the perpetrator was none other than Dared. I guess I should tell you my boring life story. My name is Jack Edwards. I was born and raised in the city of London. My parents' names are Elizabeth and Charlie Edwards, and my mother gave birth to my older sister Elizabeth, who is currently a student in New York, shortly after their marriage. My parents decided to settle down after their first child and soon gave birth to my older brother, Ryan, who is currently in year 12, me, who is currently in year 11, and my youngest sister, Elizabeth, who is currently in year 9. That should cover everything. probably not. A man can only say so much about his life while falling to his death. I felt myself gradually falling asleep. My eyes snapped open, and I found myself in complete darkness. "Where in the hell am I?" I noticed a tall, slender figure in the distance that was somehow blacker than the void itself. He must have noticed me because he appeared right in front of me in less than a second. Except for his glowing red eyes, he lacked any facial features. "Aren't you going to try to run away, human?" the creature inquired. "Would it be of any help?" The creature replied saying, "Good point; you're different, aren't you?"

"different how?"

"I think it's time for me to get to the point. You've arrived in my domain; I'm supposed to devour you, but how about we work something out?"

"A deal, what do you mean?" "If you entertain me, I'll let you live, What do you think, human?" The creature extended its arm. I didn't have much of a choice, and I was supposed to die as a result of the fall. I sighed and extended my hand to shake his. A blinding began to envelop me.
