Chapter 3

Barry got back a few minutes later. He went straight to me. "Are you sure you are okay?"

I nodded. "I'm fine."

"Would you say that even if you weren't?"

"Probably."

"That's what I thought."

I bit my lip. "You care."

He frowned. "Why wouldn't I? You're part of the team and therefore are a part of my family."

I shook my head and smiled. "Then you should call me Tin. That's what my friends and family call me."

He nodded. "Okay."

I looked at the others. "That goes for everyone." They all nodded.

"Now there's something else we need to talk about," Barry said.

I frowned. "What?"

"The fact that you're scared of Zoom. How will you fight him if you are?"

I scowled. "Are you seriously going to tell me you aren't scared of him?"

"I'm not."

Dammit, he's telling the truth. I sighed. "I know. It's just that every time I see him, I remember when he kidnapped me. It was terrifying and I...guess I can't keep it from my mind."

He moved until he was directly in front of me. He put his hands on my shoulders. "I saved you then and I will save you again if I have to. I will not let him hurt you, Tin."

I blinked. He really did care. "Okay." He dropped his hands and stepped back.

"Speaking of fighting, I finished your suit," Dr. Wells said.

I stared. "Already?'

"Yes."

"That was quick." Then I frowned. "You all do things quickly around here, don't you?"

Barry smiled. "Yup."

I sighed. "Just one of the things I'll have to get used to."

"Yes."

"Humph." I guess this isn't a bad thing. My phone rang. It was my mom. "Hello?"

"Tin! Are you alright? You haven't checked in."

I groaned. "I'm pretty sure I checked in with you yesterday when my plane landed."

"I meant since then."

"I do have work you know." And being a hero, I added silently.

"I know that! Though why they have cops when they have Flsh is a mystery to me."

My mouth twitched. "You can't expect Flash to do everything, Mom." Barry rolled his eyes at me.

"I do. He saved you! You should show a little respect to him."

I snorted. "Respect? To someone I've met exactly once? And that was years ago!"

"You know what I mean."

"Mom, I've met him once and he didn't even say anything to me. He's my favorite hero, okay?"

"I'm sure you'll meet him while you are working with the police."

I laughed. "Probably." I don't have to tell her I've already met him. "Is there anything else you want to tell me?"

"Yes, I'm getting married again."

I went completely still. "To who?"

"Well, you haven't met him but his name is Charles."

"Charles Worthington?"

"You know him?"

"Mom, he was my English teacher. Of course, I know him."

"Huh. He said he hasn't met you."

"He had like fifty students. I'm not surprised he doesn't remember me." Though he should.

"Hmm, I'll talk to him about it."

I snorted. "When is the wedding?"

"In two weeks. Do you think you could make it?"

I blinked. "Two weeks? Mom, when did he propose to you?"

"A couple of days ago. Why?"

"You're going to plan a big wedding in two weeks? Talk bout being difficult. Why don't you wait longer?"

"I'm already halfway done with the planning. I'll be done in a few more days."

"You're impossible."

"Ah, but you love me."

"Of course, I do. You're the only family I have." Barry scowled at me. "Besides my friends," I added.

"Oh! Tell your friends they can come too."

I looked at them. "Um, they just became my friends. I'm not sure they would want to go to my mothers' wedding." Then I frowned. "How long have you been dating Charles?"

"Two months."

"Oh for the love of hell, Mom! You really do, do things fast."

"I love him." I heard the defensiveness in her voice.

"You know that after two months of dating?"

"Yes. He loves me too."

I'm starting to get an odd feeling about this. Like maybe he works for Zoom or someone else. "Mom, do you even know any of his friends?"

"Well, he has one but I've never got to meet him because he's always busy."

"Do you know his name?"

"I do but I'm not going to tell you because you'll think it's the guy who kidnapped you."

"His name is Zoom? Mom, please get out of the relationship." The others were watching me now.

"See? I knew you'd say that. Zoom is a common name. I'll finally get to meet him at the wedding."

"Mom," I ground out. "There is only one person named Zoom and he's the guy who kidnapped me when I was three. Get out of the relationship."

"No."

"Mom!"

"No." She hung up.

I put my phone back in my pocket with a groan. Dammit! She didn't even say goodbye. I looked at the others. "Well, you know where I'm heading."

Caitlyn nodded. "To your moms."

"Yes. Apparently, my English teacher works with Zoom and my mom's marrying Charles."

"You aren't going alone," Barry said.

I frowned. "Um, Barry? You do know I have powers, right? You can't leave Central City without a hero."

He shook his head. "I've left many times before. Zoom is the biggest villain at the moment. I'm coming with you."

I winced. "My moms going to think your my boyfriend."

He smirked. "You won't correct her?"

I glared. "Oh, I'll correct her but that doesn't mean her mind will be changed."

"I'll go too," Caitlyn said.

I sighed. "Anyone else?" They shook their heads. "Okay, I'll meet you at the airport in a couple of hours."
