概要

Disclaimer: The King's Avatar, the characters, and its universe do not belong to me. They belong to the original creator, Butterfly Blue. PS: I have not read TKA until the end. Therefore, I would like to apologize for any inconsistencies found in the story. You can think of it as an alternate universe if you want. This story is written for the TKA fanfic contest. Ye Xiu left the Professional League after making history in winning the championship with his unorthodox unspecialized class. Years passed, and Glory experienced its first major incident. Chapter 1Prologue

That year, Ye Xiu made history with his unorthodox Unspecialized class and wins the championship. His retirement that came afterward also didn't come as a surprise to the Glory Circle. Though fans were saddened by his departure, they also knew that Ye Xiu had already fulfilled his goals by showing to everyone the potential of the unspecialized class thus, the man that is already nearing his thirties no longer have any regret after retiring.

After Happy won the championship, there was a surge of young, hot-blooded players trying out the unspecialized class. They tried to emulate what Ye Xiu had done, but without the proper knowledge and a silver weapon that could do what the Myriad Manifestation Umbrella could, they were bound to fail. Soon, the hype died down and as Glory continues to update their game, the unspecialized class was once more, buried down and is only remembered as a mere history.

Years go by, and one by one, the old players retired and is replaced by a new one. Each season, there will always be a new champion. With such competitiveness, it was expected that Glory will not die out even after the next ten years. Unfortunately, that was only the outer appearance.

In the league, there doesn't seem to be any changes but the same cannot be said in the game. The number of new players registering for the game had gone down. The management could see the number decreasing each passing season and they could not figure out why. They called all the professional team owners for a meeting, but the team did not suffer any losses. The fans were still there, but they did mention they were having hard time gathering materials in the game due to the lack of active players in their guild.

"This could be Glory's first major incident since it's launch! We have to do something!" one of the board of directors said as he stared at the data shown on his tablet.

"Well, what can we do? We've already tried our best to make the league more competitive and the fans' feedback was great! Yet the number of new players for the games keep on dwindling," another voiced out.

"Lately, we have been focusing on the league and what the fans want. But have we ever considered what the players want?" another person chimed in and suddenly, the conference room went silent. Every other set of eyes in the room lands on the person who had just spoken up. "What…?" he asked nervously.

"That's it!! Lately, our updates have only been catered to make the league even more competitive. There were no benefits for the players!!"

"Then it's time we start thinking about it!"

"How about adding a new class?"

"That would change the league's competition far too much. The professional players would need to learn the new class and then the team might need to change their composition if they wanted to implement the new class into their team. It would be too much work for them that they might just ignore the new class. If none of the pros are taking a new class, then that class will die months after it's release. Just look at the unspecialized as an example."

"True…"

As the member of the board of directors and the owner of the teams were trying to figure out things that could help Glory, the chairman of the alliance kept quiet. He was young and was only recently elected by the previous chairman. He was always in his own world during meetings, and only voiced out his opinion when he wanted. Like this, the board of directors has long thought that the new chairman was useless. It was only unfortunate that they are unable to replace him.

The chairman who had been ignoring the voices that surrounds him just continued to play with his tablet. On the screen was news of the latest games and also technology that is announced that year. He continued to scroll down the list until he found something that caught his interest.

"This is it!" the chairman exclaimed as he stood up excitedly. "This will be Glory's next step! This technology is still new and is patented. If we can get exclusive rights from the owner, then the world of Glory will change!" the chairman said as he cast the view on his tablet to the big monitor behind him. "With this technology, we can let the player immerse more into the world of Glory. Not only that, if we can monopolize the right to this technology, then we will be able to make big money once it's released!"

"But, if it failed… wouldn't we end up losing money instead? Buying rights to patented technology won't be cheap. And the cost of development will be high," one of the members of the board of directors said.

While the board of directors was hesitating, the owner of the team was looking at the technology displayed on the big monitor with interest. "If this technology ends up being successful, not only the game will become hot cash cows, even the professional league will take a huge leap forward. If we do manage to get the exclusive rights to it, even for five years, then Glory will be the first game to release it's own Virtual Reality System. A professional league with a VR system… I'm really looking forward to it."

"I second that. Then maybe, the game will no longer be played by keyboard and mouse… who knows if some monsters from the past will return again?" another owner of a team added.

Just with these small inputs, the hesitant board of directors was slowly being convinced. By the time the meeting ends, the Alliance and Glory have already made their choices. They must have the right to that technology as soon as possible.

Card Apprentice Daily Log

Dalton Wyatt, a world-renowned scientist and inventor, is transmigrated into the body of a high school student, also named Dalton Wyatt, who had tragically committed suicide due to unfortunate circumstances and a complicated life. The enchanting world of cards he finds himself in is vastly different from Earth, yet eerily similar in certain aspects. Unlike the peaceful Earth, where humans fought only amongst themselves, this new world is plagued by dungeons and monsters. Here, humanity's survival hinges on battling these mythical and legendary creatures. Ordinary mortals lack the strength to stand against such formidable foes. Thankfully, a select few are blessed with the ability to harness their souls, manifest soul power, and become card apprentices—humanity’s last hope against extinction. Card apprentices are individuals who form contracts with grimoires, mystical artifacts that allow them to wield powerful and versatile cards to fend off monsters and conquer dungeons. A grimoire provides card apprentices with abilities such as card creation and card fusion. Most importantly, it enables them to unlock their full potential in card battles. While this world shares the concept of science with Earth, its focus is not on electronics or industrialization. Instead, cards replace the need for most technologies, fulfilling even the smallest of daily necessities. This world revolves entirely around the grimoire’s abilities, particularly card creation and card fusion. Transmigrated to a place where strength can be bought with money, Dr. Wyatt is forced to earn a living to ensure his survival. Fortunately, with his otherworldly knowledge and expertise, card creation comes naturally to him, setting him apart from other card apprentices. Dr. Wyatt crafts and sells perfect, powerful, and resourceful cards, steadily growing stronger in this monster-ridden world. --- "What did you say? Making good cards is hard? Bah! Card creation is a breeze." "My friend, let me enlighten you—there are no 'trash card ingredients,' only incompetent card creationists." [Commencing card creation using ingredients, i)Bloody Veins - G Rank, Mortal Grade ii)Nyon Rope - G Rank, Mortal Grade iii)Common Core - G Rank, Mortal Grade Card creation… complete!
