~Chapter 8~

Cassius' PoV

Hearing the beautiful voice of my mate, its like I'm listening to a calming music. At first her story was only about her family and it went to that fucking imbecile. I can see that she treated him as a friend. Nonetheless, I'll cut off that freaking bastard's dick. He dare lay a hand with my mate and child. Even if Kirael isn't mine, I'll become a great Father figure for him. Just thinking that Kirael was deprived of Fatherly love and good childhood, makes my head ache even more.

My mate who did everything she could to protect her son. I wish I could've come sooner for them. Thinking maybe, they would be a little happy and hopeful. Now that I've seen her up close, it almost feel as if she was dead. Her eyes are lifeless. Its the eyes that had seen death, multiple times. When I asked her why she failed to escape. I saw a despondent expression on her beautiful face.

"I'm weak." She answered and describe herself.

I wanted to tell her that she's a strong woman and not anyone can do what she's done. But I don't to be an Alpha acting up like he owns his mate. So I restrain myself. Now that I met her, I wanted to do everything right, just so I can earn her trust. Next thing I ask her, is if they want to join my pack. I want to protect them, now that I have the opportunity to do so.

"What?" Her eyes widen, seeing she's didn't expect this. I am somewhat happy to see another expression of her.

"I'm sorry its not a question but a command." I said acting cool in front of my mate. I know I went here with shabby clothes, but I still want to impress her.

"But that also means I have to work with you." She replied, seeing through my intent. Of course I want to protect them, and I also want her to do what she wants. A part of it was for her to establish the Eclipse Pack.

"Indeed, I knew you were witty." I complimented her and pat her back. Truth be told. I want to do more than patting her back. I want to embrace her and kiss her and do the things that lovers do.

"I'm not a child to receive such praise." She cocked an eyebrow at me that brought me into the reality that her wolf does not acknowledge me as her mate.

Few minutes later, Leonor entered the room. At that moment I knew that she would take my mate away from me. Leonor instructed me to go and bring Kirael. So I went home with Kirael. Right after I carried Kirael and lay him down on the couch, I cook some food. Knowing that Kirael would be hungry when he wakes up.

Just as I was about to sit down, Kirael woke up and asked me. "Are you my Mom's mate?" He's still half asleep, rubbing his eyes.

"N..no" I hesitatedly answer.

"I never knew that the beholder of the eyes of truth would lie to a child." Kirael said, squinting his eyes.

"How did you know all that?"

"Just like my mom, I possess the ability of insight. But mine is cooler, since I can see glimpses of the future." He pointed at himself proudly.

"Can you tell me what you saw?"

"Not much, but you were following Mother anywhere she goes. So, I assume that you are my Mother's mate." He explained.

"I thought I was gonna have a heart attack when you asked me if I were your Mother's mate." I now finally sat down and laid my head on top of the backrest.

"So how do you want me to address you?" He dilly-dally.

"Stop calling me Sir." I commanded him.

"Then...Alpha?" Kirael asked.

"Just address me how you address your Mom." Instructing him, yet again.

"Mom?" He said laughing. Then tickled him until he's out of breath.

"If you dare to call me Mom again." I warned him in a flippant manner.

"But can I really call you Dad?"

"Of course, you can." Giving him assurance.

"Then Mom would know that your her Mate. Her wolf is against it." Kirael reasoned out.

"You're right. So how about you call me Dad, when its just the two of us?"

"Really?!" He squealed.

"Really." I responded, smiling at him.

"No take backs Alpha!"

"Yes, no take backs."

Kirael raise his right pinky and ask me to do the same, sealing our promise together.

Kirael and I ate dinner together and I let him sleep on my bed while I was working, trying to finish the paperworks that were piled up on my desk. Mark, who is my Beta, brought all these paperworks after dinner.

I also need to make a housing plan for my mate and child. Should I asked the construction team to build a three storey building? Should I also add a playground for Kirael?

I look at Kirael who's fast asleep, just thinking about how to impress this kid, keeps me motivated. One thing's for sure, when he wakes up in the morning, he'll praise me for working hard.

Morning came and I wasn't able to sleep a wink. Goddess I need coffee to recharge. I went down the kitchen to make coffee. I smell the rich aroma of the coffee I made. Mmm coffee is the best. I savor the strong taste of the blacke coffee beans. Its the best drink to start the day. Everything was perfect until...

"Alpha Cassius!" Kirael yelled, standing at the bottom of the stairs. While I choke on my hot coffee.

"Why did you call for me Alpha?" I asked, acting like a submisive pack member. Trying to play along with him early in the morning.

"Da..Dad" He speak shyly.

"What is it son?" Patiently asking him what could be the problem.

"If you truly love me and my Mom, you wouldn't overwork yourself." He mumbled.

"What?! No! Its not like that." Defending myself. Slowly, my plan to impress him crumbled.

"Then why didn't you sleep?"

"I slept on my desk." I told him

"Don't want to sleep with me?" He asked with puppy eyes.

"No way! Its not like that. I was actually trying to finish all my paperworks so I can take you to your Mom later this day." Carefully explaining my side to him.

"But don't overwork. What if you got sick too? No one will be left to take care of me."

"Okay I'll do what you say bud."

I carried him and kiss his forehead. Never would have thought that trying to reason out with a child will be difficult. After he's done eating, we went to the Russo's to get his things. Then he played with the twins for a while and we ate lunch with them. Next, we went to the hospital and I'm the only one who's unable to get in.

"Leonor, what is the meaning of this?" Asking why the fuck she's blocking me.

"Only 'Family members' can visit the patient who is recovering." Leonor answered impertinently.

"Who made that fucking rule?" I answered back.

"Profanity is not allowed in the hospital Mr. Cassius. It would be best if you hand me the gifts for Ms. Theron and you go outside and wait for Kirael." She retorted and get the gifts from my hands. She even have the guts to call the security to walk me out of the hospital.

I waited outside and lean on my car. An hour passed and Kirael approach me.

"I'm sorry, did you wait for too long?" He apologized and kindly ask.

"No problem at all! As long as you're happy bud." I told him and ruffled his hair.

"Let's go home Dad." Whispering into my ear.

I'm happy hearing him call me Dad. Just him, acknowledging me as his Mother's mate is enough. We got home safely and he sat down on the couch and opened his bag, looking for soemthing.

"What is it?" Wanting to know what's he looking for.

I saw him holding on the phone that my Gamma gave him.

"What's in there?" I ask again, full of curiosity.

"I took some pictures of Mom and I'd like you to see it! as my present for you, Dad."

He knew that I long for his mom. There's really no need for you to do this. I love you just as I love your Mother. The things I want to tell him, but unable to. I'm not good at expressing myself. What my forte is, to criticize and swear.

I kiss his forehead and had him sit on my lap, then we look at the photos he captured.
