~Chapter 10~

Cassius' PoV

I saw my mate exit the hospital. I can see that she's quite tall for a woman. Her black wavy hair flows right above her hips. Her eyes are like a pair of sun, shining brightly, unlike the last time I saw her. Her cheeks and ears are quite flushed due to heat. I am entrall at the fascinating look of my mate. She was staring at the warm sun, and slowly close her eyes to breathe in its warmth.

My mind became bleary, by simply looking at her ethereal beauty. I walk slowly, not wanting to disturb her admiration at the sunlight. Inhaling her lavender scent, I am more longing for her. I want to hold her and love her even more. Not because of the mate bond, but simply because she deserves to be love. I knew at the back of my mind that she's not looking for anyone, she just want to be with her son after all.

But I want her to eventually realize of my existence. That I'm here for them. That I would protect her and Kirael. They've captivated my whole being, the first time I saw both of them. I want to adore them. Give them all my love. I don't want to stay as an Alpha King on her sight. I just keep...wanting more, I guess.

Before my thoughts drift any further, I called onto her and say, "You're out, already?"

Cleo turned my way with much elegance. Her face is still stoic, when facing me.

"Alpha, What brings you here?" She instantly ask my purpose of visiting the hospital.

"I told you that formality is not observe in the hospital."

"So, what are you here for Alpha?" Cleo asked again, since she haven't heard the reason why I'm here.

"I'm here to take you home." I casually replied at her question.

"But why would the Alpha King do it?"

"I have a lot of time and I promised Kirael that I will pick you up." I explained and said her son's name so that she won't ask any more questions.

I grab her hands, feeling the shivers run down my spine. Her thin and slender fingers were interlaced with mine, guiding her to where my car is. Once we're settled, she stare back and forth at me and the bags on my backseat.

"What?" I raised an eyebrow.

"Why is your car messy?" She asked and described my car messy.

"Messy?!" I uttered in disbelief.

Cleo look away from my gaze.

"Pfffftt." I tried supressing my laugh

"Why are you laughing? I thought you were mad at me for a second." She mumbled.

"You're cute! You look like a kid who obviously done something wrong. Plus this aren't mess. Its what Kirael told me to buy, because you needed it."

In reality, it was my idea to buy all these for them. Since they don't have any thing when they came here.

The drive was smooth, and I keep checking out on my mate, who's admiring the things she sees outside the car window. We safely arrived at my house and she's surprise by the Gamma family and her son. As expected Kirael gave the lavender bouquet I prepared for his Mom. Luckily, before she can ask me or Kirael. Julia instructed us to sit down and eat.

While we were eating, we talk and have fun. Within my peripheral view, I can see a pretty faint smile on my mate's face as she talks to Julia about her son. I'm glad that Kirael grew up with a wonderful Mother like her.

But our bond was suddenly interrupted by my pack warrior. Barging in my house without notice. Though he's one of the captains I assigned, he should be aware that I don't like people barging in my home. He better have a good reason to come here.

"King, we have a problem!" Andrew told me.

"What is it that you needed to disturb the Alpha King?" My Gamma questioned his intrusion.

"Stop! Tell me what the problem is?" I told them, before they could start fighting. I don't want them shifting into their wolves in front my mate and child.

"The Alpha of the Strong Winds Pack is gone." Quickly explaining what happened.

I shift into my wolf and ran towards the dungeon he was imprisoned. Carlo and Andrew followed on foot. I shifted back, when the pungent smell of blood wafted my nose. Approaching the cell where the imbecile and his family were imprisoned, I saw his wife and child laying on the floor. Their stomachs were opened, some of the organs were missing. A weird seal was written on the floor their laying on.

This only means that the coven is on the move. The late Beta Greyson, actually started investigating the coven when his second child was born and I never would have thought that his child was of Theron Bloodline. Beta Greyson's wife was always hidden away from the public, though we believe that the Strong Winds pack knows something. We didn't interfere since Beta Greyson works with us and gives us helpful information. One of the information he told us about, is that the coven is trying to resurect the Rogue King.

Ever since I've taken the throne from my Father, the coven tried to cause chaos. I killed my Father and brothers, because of them too. The coven corrupted the mind of my Father and brothers by using the image of my deceased mother and making them go power hungry. My mother died giving birth to me, this is the reason why my brothers set me aside. Due to the sadness of losing his mate my Father started shutting himself to anyone. But then, the coven came and asked for an audience to the previous King.

I saw them played tricks on my Father's mind. They chased me out of the pack the moment they've controlled my Father. A few people I trust followed me, including my Beta and Gamma and about twenty warriors of my pack.

I trained my mind and body, hoping that I can end my Father's miserable life. This was actually his last request from me. He already knew that the coven will use him, but he can't do anything since he became weak for missing his dead mate. Right before I killed my Father, I saw him smile at me for the last time. Along his dead body, I bury my brothers with him as well.

Before, I thought that having a mate is a curse. Because once your mate died, you get weak and if you get rejected, you will suffer from severe heartache. For the past few years that's what I've thought, but in reality I long for one. Looking everywhere, travelling into different packs, until I found my mate. Broken and imprisoned into the dungeon.

"My King!" Mark, who is my Beta get my attention.

"Report!" I commanded him.

"We lost track of him. He was teleported in the southern border. We believe that he would go back to his pack territory. Should we send some team to go there?"

"Alert the other Alphas and Elders. We need to prepare. There's a thin thread that's about to break, for the chaos to arise." Giving Mark another order.

**********

I went home in the middle of the night and was surprise that my mate is still wide awake. She's sitting on couch, without any lights. The dark seems to be one with her.

"Why aren't you sleeping?" I asked Cleo.

"Why didn't you kill him?" She unexpectedly asked.

"I haven't gotten the answers I am looking for." I vaguely stated.

I sat beside her, looking at her stoic figure. I want to know what's going on her little head.

"I think my child and I have to hide." She calmly said.

"What do you mean by that?"

"Of course he knows where we are and your pack will be in danger. I have to take my child and get out of here." Briefly explaining what is on her mind.

"I can make you both safe, along my pack." Giving her assurance.

"Do you even know what Jim is trying to do?"

My ears twitch at hearing that bastard's name. Why would you call his name? When all he's done was torture you and let you suffer in the dark.

"I know what they're trying to do. If you both go outside my territory, I can't protect you. That's why I asked you beforehand to join my pack." I reasoned out with her.

Later on, she agreed that she will stay in my pack. I can't let them hurt her or Kirael. The only time I'll let her go is if she tell me to.
