Natasha was inside a car with Reaper and somehow Reaper ended up behind the wheel again she could only hold her breath and pray not to die. With the way, he was driving, she was certain that there would be a trail of police cars in pursuit of them but not so surprisingly, there were none.
He drove without asking about where her uncle's family lived and just drove. She had told him that they lived in another city but she never mentioned which city they lived in. But he was heading in the right direction and she glanced at him with surprise in her eyes.
"How do you know...?" She asked but mid-sentence She began as she remembered that he was Death, and death was everywhere.
To do his job, he has to know where everything and everyone is and when they will be there. Natasha saw as his lips pulled up into a smirk and she turned back to look at the road not knowing what else to say to him.
"You should have told me you knew already when I told you before." She complained.
"You should have known already, little bunny," Reaper replied. His head turned to her to look at her and she stared back at him.
She nodded and agreed, "I guess it was pretty obvious, wasn't it?" Looking back at the road she remembered something and looked at him once again. "That day... You came for my parents, right?" She asked
"Yes." Came the curt response from Reaper.
Natasha felt her heart constrict painfully at his response. His answer came so freely without any obstruction like it was no big deal which was true for him but for her, it was the most painful thing that she could think of right now. Natasha closed her eyes to calm her breathing which had become labored.
"Can you give them back?" She asked looking at him with unshed tears in her eyes. He looked at her too not minding the fact that they were in a moving car.
"Yes," he answered and Natasha nearly jumped for joy until she heard him ask, "But what do have to offer to get back their souls?" Looking intently at her.
"I... I... I offer myself." Natasha said and bit her lower lip. She had found a way to get her family back and if there was anything that she could do to get them back then she would do it. It didn't matter whether she had to sell herself to the devil she would do it. She has already done that anyway.
"That won't do." Natasha's head snapped up to look at him with a question in her eyes. "You are already mine, Natasha, you can't give yourself twice, find something else, something that is worthy of what you have asked," Reaper said and parked the car by the roadside and stretched his hand to her cheek.
A lone tear trickled down her eyes which he wiped off with his thumb. "I will give them back to you if you can offer something in exchange. I won't disrupt the balance of the planes without a reason, little bunny."
"What do you want in exchange?" She asked. "I don't know what else to give to you. I have given you everything." She said between sobs. She has just realized that it was impossible to get them back and there was nothing that she could offer to him in exchange for her family to return.
"A soul for a soul," Reaper replied.
Natasha stared at him not understanding what he had just said. After some seconds had passed, she finally understood what he meant. "I can give that to you, I did say I would give them to you, didn't I?"
Reaper pulled his hand back to his side, closed his eyes, and then shook his head. Natasha did not understand his gesture until she heard him say, "One of the same value and sentiments as that which you want to be returned to you."
Hearing his words, Natasha felt like her heart was being ripped open. She sank unto the seat as tears rolled down her eyes turning her cheeks wet and rosy. "No." She said shaking her head. "No, please, anything else."
"That is how it is done. It can not be changed." Reaper said holding her petite face in his large and gloved palm, he made her look at him, the black glove on him was a perfect contrast against a pale face. "Your uncle..."
"No," Natasha said cutting him in between his words but he did not mind. "I can't lose him too." Reaper nodded and wiped away her tears.
"Then so be it," Reaper said started the engine once again, and drove off.
Seeing as they were approaching her uncle's residence, Natasha recollected her emotions trying to look as normal as possible. She looked in the mirror and saw how she looked like a mess. Taking out the makeup kits from the bag, she applied a little makeup to hide any traces of her cries from the eyes of others.
Soon the car arrived and came to a stop at the front yard of a small yet homey residence of her uncle and his family. Natasha looked at the familiar building in front of her and felt a burst of emotions within her heart.
Taking in deep breaths, she opened the door and stepped now standing face to face with the door. Reaper stepped as well and stood next to her. He waited for her to walk in first as it was her family whom they had come to visit.
Natasha hung her bag over her shoulder and started walking for the door and he followed two steps behind her. Reaching the door, Natasha knocked on it and waited. After a minute went by, the sound of the door being opened from the inside could be heard.
Surprise could be seen on the face of the man who had opened the door as he stood there looking at his niece whom he thought was dead. Multiple emotions surfaced in his eyes as he stared at her.
Then his eyes trailed I looked at the man who stood behind his niece and was fixated on him. Natasha stared at her uncle with a smile and fell into tears at seeing the familiar face of her uncle.
