Chapter 3: Coercing Fugaku

"I hope Uchiha Itachi hasn't gone to find my adoptive father."

Finally, after about ten minutes, Uchiha Waku arrived at the clan leader's mansion.

Inside, he found Uchiha Fugaku and Uchiha Mikoto sitting together.

"Why are you here?"¹

Uchiha Fugaku's eyebrows furrowed as he saw the newcomer was Uchiha Waku. He looked somewhat surprised, assuming it might be Uchiha Itachi. Little did he expect that it was his own seemingly useless son.

Uchiha Waku remained silent, his expression complex as he observed the two people in the room.

Uchiha Fugaku, his biological father, had never treated him kindly since birth. His lack of talent led to Fugaku's refusal to acknowledge him.

Uchiha Mikoto, whom he should technically address as "Aunt," had never interacted with him. She neither praised nor criticized him—like two strangers passing by.

Uchiha Waku felt a sense of isolation in this world, unable to fit in.

Collecting himself, Uchiha Waku said, "I've come to borrow a pair of eyes from you, Father."

It was the first time he addressed Uchiha Fugaku as "Father."

Uchiha Fugaku's eyes narrowed, instantly activating his Mangekyou Sharingan. He spoke coldly, "You want these eyes?"

"Yes," Uchiha Waku replied calmly, also activating his Mangekyou Sharingan.

"What? When did you awaken the Mangekyou?" Uchiha Fugaku couldn't maintain his composure, staring at Uchiha Waku's eyes.

"Truth be told, just a moment ago. Uchiha Itachi tried to kill me, and out of fear, I awakened the Mangekyou. And my dear big brother still doesn't know I'm alive," Uchiha Waku said playfully.

"You truly don't deserve the Uchiha name. Leave. My eyes won't be yours, and from now on, don't use the Uchiha surname. You're unworthy!" Uchiha Fugaku deliberated for a moment.

He had never seen an Uchiha so afraid of death—awakening the Mangekyou directly due to fear. Was it extraordinary talent or an extreme aversion to death?

"Heh, names don't matter. As long as I'm alive, it's fine. Fear of death isn't shameful. From now on, I'll go by the name 'Tao Wu' in this world. As for the eyes, they're reserved for Itachi!" Uchiha Waku shrugged, smiling. (Note: 'Tao Wu' is just a code name; he'll still be called Uchiha Waku.)

Uchiha Fugaku remained silent, evidently accepting the situation.

"Ah, it's truly lamentable. Even if Uchiha Itachi committed patricide, matricide, and wiped out the entire clan, in your heart, he remains your pride."

"And what about me? Even though I've awakened the Mangekyou Sharingan, you still don't regard me highly." Uchiha Waku sighed, a hint of jealousy fleeting in his eyes before he masked it.

"Well, if you won't cooperate, I'll have to resort to force. Let's hope Aunt doesn't get caught in the crossfire."

As Uchiha Waku finished speaking, Uchiha Fugaku bellowed, "You dare?"

Clearly, Uchiha Fugaku sensed the threat in Uchiha Waku's words.

Without hesitation, Uchiha Fugaku cast a genjutsu directly on Uchiha Waku.

"Magical Binding Chains Technique."

Uchiha Waku was caught off guard, momentarily stunned. Being a novice in combat, this was expected. However, he quickly regained his composure.

"How is this possible?"

Uchiha Fugaku stared at Uchiha Waku, astonished by how easily he dispelled the genjutsu. Could this really be the recently awakened Mangekyou? Why did it possess such immense power?

Uchiha Waku chuckled, scratching the back of his head, appearing somewhat foolish.

He felt ready to unleash his full potential, not just in skeletal form, but even with a flesh-and-blood Susano'o.

Seeing Uchiha Waku's audacity, Uchiha Fugaku couldn't help but want to strike again.

However, at that moment, Uchiha Waku raised his hand and said, "Hold on. My awakened eye is Izanagi. It won't cause blindness, only consume chakra. You can't kill me."

Hearing this, Uchiha Fugaku halted, glaring at Uchiha Waku with murderous intent.

Uchiha Waku continued, "I came here solely for your eyes, nothing more. Why be so dramatic?"

"Hmph!" Uchiha Fugaku grunted in disapproval.

"I think it's best if Father cooperates. Imagine if I escape, find Sasuke bothersome, and decide to eliminate him. That wouldn't end well, would it?" Uchiha Waku threatened, considering it the best way to obtain Uchiha Fugaku's eyes.

After all, he still couldn't defeat Fugaku directly; at most, he could run!

"You! You rebellious child! Today, I'll end you!"

Uchiha Waku's words infuriated Uchiha Fugaku, but at that moment, Uchiha Mikoto, who had remained silent, spoke up.

"Fugaku, just agree."

"But, Itachi..." Uchiha Fugaku hesitated.

"We have no choice. After the clan's annihilation, Itachi can't stay in Konoha forever, guarding Sasuke. Besides, haven't we already decided to die? So, forgive me for this unreasonable request," Uchiha Mikoto said wearily, her expression filled with apology.

"Fine, I agree!"

In the end, Uchiha Fugaku chose compromise. He had no other option; Uchiha Waku had found his weakness.
