Desire to live

Tables have turned. His fellow Kiri ninjas were being slaughtered all over the place. He felt a sense of dread as he looked towards the person who single handedly changed the tide of the battle. Orochimaru of the sannin indeed lived up to his reputation.

~~TME~~

Orochimaru licked his lips looking at the clan ninjas. So many specimens. He tried hard to get all the bloodlines for his experiments as possible. It was very hard for him to get a hand on even a single one of the bloodlines of Konoha. But here was Kiri, wasting all these precious resources. Perhaps Kiri didn't know the value of these bloodlines. But never mind, if Kiri didn't want them then he would take them happily. After all, who doesn't like new tools.

He jumped down and released his snakes. They quickly got to work, biting down any and all who stood in his way. He slashed with his Kusanagi killing any one foolish enough to stand in his way. He grabbed a kunai that was thrown to him in the air. He grabbed the exploding tag attached to it and stuck it to a Kiri jounin's vest who exploded shortly after . He then threw the kunai at another chunin, piercing straight through his eye and killing him.

Boar, Dog, Bird, Monkey, Ram; "Kuchiyose no jutsu"

A giant snake came out of the smoke. "You better have a 100 sacrifices ready Orochimaru."

"Of course Manda, they are right in front of you. Feel free to take anyone you like."

Manda started wrecking havoc. The battle has been all but lost for Kiri. It would be better if they surrendered right now. But alas, even being scared, the Kiri ninjas were too stubborn. If they couldn't win the battle, they would still take some out with them.

Orochimaru's eyes darted around the battlefield until he stopped on a certain child. The child was a Kaguya it seemed, and he was attacking anyone who came within his vicinity. Many would see this as him being crazy but Orochimaru knew better. He saw the look in the boy's eyes. It was not a crazy but a calm and somewhat excited look. He knew that look. It was the same one he had lots of years ago. He knew that the boy was killing everyone not because he was crazy, but he desired to live. The boy feared death just like he did.

Orochimaru in a way was the same as the boy. He too feared death. His life long goal was to know all the knowledge this world has to offer. But alas, it was not possible. His mortal shackles kept him from ever achieving that goal. That's why he sought out immortality. He absolutely loved the idea of not being bound by the shackles of time. Always existing. Knowing all the knowledge. That was his dream and he would go to all lengths to achieve it.

Orochimaru watched as the boy looked towards him He saw the look of fear and admiration flash through the boy's eyes. The boy calmed down and looked at him with cold and calculating eyes. Orochimaru licked his lips at the thought of having the boy as an apprentice. He was the perfect choice. Orochimaru already had Anko but she was too naïve and without any ambition of her own. But this boy was different. He was like Orochimaru himself. He would definitely come for him once this war was over. Orochimaru looked away and jumped to dispatch some more enemy ninjas.

~~TME~~

Daichi looked on as Orochimaru analyzed him. He didn't know why he interested Orochimaru. He just knew he did. Orochimaru jumped away and started killing more. Daichi sensed some danger and barely avoided a slash to the neck. He swept his feet under the enemy ninja's and produced a bone from his foot which then finished his enemy. One thing that was useful with having a bloodline was that he could be really unpredictable. You don't expect a kid to throw a kunai with their feet, do you? It was basically that but with bones.

Just when he finished killing the enemy a jounin came, punched him in the gut and kicked him away. Daichi slowly got back up. His adrenaline was wearing off and he could think clearly now. He stood no chance against a Jounin. Sure, he could kill genins effortlessly and defeat chunins with mild difficulty, but that was nothing against a jounin. The jounin started bashing him brutally. A punch to the face, a kick on the gut, a stab to the shoulder. Daichi for the first time was left utterly beaten.

"But how? It was my fate to win" he barely managed to utter out those words.

"Fate means nothing in front of absolute power. With enough strength you can defy and even defeat fate itself" the jounin said before stabbing Daichi in the chest. Leaving the boy to bleed to death, the jounin flickered on to his next opponent.

Daichi lied there barely alive, brutally beaten. His faith in fate started to waver. The jounin's words hung in his head. "Fate means nothing in front of absolute power." He pondered over the meaning of those words. He wondered what it meant to have absolute power.

It couldn't be being the strongest. For he knew even a single kunai at the neck can kill the strongest of ninjas. Only those who can't be killed have enough power. People that can't be killed or can't die have enough time to do anything. The opponent is to strong for you? Just wait till your enemy gets old and kill him. And thus, he gained his new goal. He aimed to have immortality. He dreamed to be invincible, not being able to be killed by anyone. Only then, he can be free. With his new goal in mind, he slowly lost consciousness.
