Chapter 35: Truth

Silence reigned over the entire cave as Tsunade stared at Katsuyu without batting an eye.

Katsuyu stared at the unique human in front of her with a large amount of interest. She then decided to give the human a chance as she asked "Why?"

Tsunade wasted no time as she said "Because I need to learn the Strength of a Hundred Seal to heal my grandfather. Grandma Mito said she couldn't teach me the seal as I would have to be contracted to Shikkotsu Forest to learn it."

Katsuyu seemed to fall into memories before she exclaimed "Ah! I remember now. The little girl with the red hair. She was such a sweet little girl. She hasn't summoned a part of me in about 30 years now that I think about it. Tell her I said hello. But what is wrong with your grandfather?"

Tsunade's lips seemed to twitch at that as she thought about her Grandma's 'kind' smile. 'I think Lady Katsuyu met someone else because I can barely put those two words in the same sentence.'

"His body began to grow weaker after a large battle and now he only has a small amount of vitality left. I plan to store Yang chakra inside the seal and then use it all together in the form of a healing jutsu to properly help him survive. I ask from the bottom of my heart, may you please allow me to sign a contract with you?" Tsunade told Katsuyu while bowing her head.

Katsuyu began to think to herself 'So she plans to learn the seal to use to store Yang chakra for a jutsu that is practically Yang Release? It seems she's touching upon a level of jutsu that very few ever reach throughout their entire lives, what's even more impressive is that she's doing it as a mere child. She also said that Mito is her grandmother, and I can practically feel the Uzumaki and Senju blood flowing in her veins. However, I have to know if she is the best candidate to represent us for this generation. I'll ask her one more question and if she answers me correctly I'll allow her to sign the contract.'

"Why should I allow you to sign our summoning contract? Why should I allow you to represent us in the next generation and allow you to summon us to aid you in battle?" Katsuyu asked Tsunade.

Tsunade was heavily contemplating over what her answer should be. 'I could tell her all my achievements, such as having 6 of the 7 chakra natures as my base affinities. Also my mastery over Fuinjutsu could maybe help me in this regard.'

After 2 minutes of thought, Tsunade finally gave her answer.

"I don't know." she answered truthfully.

After thinking of all the possible answers she could have given, in the end, most of them probably wouldn't have mattered. To a being who could be older than even the Sage of Six Paths, anything but the truth would have likely resulted in her being denied the contract.

Katsuyu seemed surprised at the answer before she began to laugh and the summoning contract appeared in front of Tsunade.

"If you had given me a list of some of your strengths or abilities then I may have still given you the contract. However you are the first contractor to ever answer my question truthfully. You are now the contractor of Shikkotsu Forest. Any animals including myself will now assist you no matter the situation. Your grandmother can also begin teaching you the Strength of a Hundred Seal." Katsuyu said after Tsunade had signed the contract,

"Thank you for your help Lady Katsuyu, and I will not let you down!" Tsunade said with the determination in her voice being heavy.

"Good luck, Tsunade-sama." Lady Katsuyu said as Tsunade returned to Konoha through the seal.
