Chapter 117: The Great Toad Sage's Prophecy! A Shattered World! Naruto!
"A new prophecy?"
Jiraiya's expression shifted slightly.
He had come to Mount Myoboku seeking assistance, yet unexpectedly found himself here just in time for something crucial.
Fukasaku emerged as well, looking somewhat anxious. "Jiraiya-boy, come with me, quickly."
Jiraiya felt a sense of dread rise within him; it was his first time seeing Fukasaku with such an expression.
Soon enough, he followed Fukasaku into the grand hall.
On the platform ahead, the Great Toad Sage, with wrinkled skin, a smoking pipe, and half-lidded, drowsy eyes, sat there, his chest heaving as if in the throes of intense emotion.
As soon as the Great Toad Sage saw Jiraiya, he quavered, "Jiraiya-boy, this prophecy isn't about you, but it might be connected to you."
Jiraiya took a deep breath and listened intently, his face somber.
"My prophecy contains two segments."
"The first segment reveals a young man with tomoe in his eyes who will bring about monumental change to the ninja world, but this change will come at a tremendous cost."
"To halt this transformation, two young men must rise. One of them possesses green eyes and is accompanied by a furry companion, while the other has eyes with a ripple-like pattern."
Jiraiya's pupils contracted as his mind raced.
"The only candidate for that revolutionary figure must be Ishihara!"
"But why would someone else possess the Rinnegan?! Isn't Nagato dead?"
"And this person is an enemy of Ishihara?"
"Could it be that Ishihara's reforms aren't beneficial to the ninja world?"
Having once mentored Nagato, the previous Rinnegan wielder, Jiraiya remembered the Rinnegan's formidable power vividly.
But in the prophecy, the possessor of the Rinnegan stood in opposition to Ishihara! Even more concerning, this Rinnegan user was joining forces with someone else!
"A green-eyed young man with a furry pet—could it be a summoning creature or a Jinchuriki?"
Jiraiya hastily asked, "Elder, do you know who this green-eyed young man might be?"
The Great Toad Sage lazily glanced at him, then said nonchalantly, "He should be the boy from my previous dream."
Jiraiya was taken aback—the Child of Prophecy?
His brow furrowed. He had long been searching for the Child of Prophecy but had yet to find them.
And now there was a second prophecy—did the first prophecy still hold?
Was the Child of Prophecy still the same?
Jiraiya voiced his doubts.
Fukasaku replied on behalf of the Great Toad Sage, "Both prophecies are correct. However, the second prophecy likely appeared because an unforeseen event occurred between the two predictions."
Jiraiya immediately understood.
The second prophecy was more precise because the future outlined in the first prophecy had been altered.
But the Child of Prophecy from the first vision was still important and still needed to be found!
The Great Toad Sage continued, "The second segment…"
He hesitated before solemnly saying, "The ninja world was shattered, turning into countless fragments. Two figures battled in the sky, while countless others clashed on the scattered land fragments. This is a war engulfing the entire ninja world!"
Gasp!
The world… shattered?!
Jiraiya inhaled sharply, stunned. He quickly asked, "When you say the ninja world is shattered, what do you mean? And who were the two sides in that battle?"
The Great Toad Sage replied, "Shattered means I saw many fragments—the land had split apart. As for the combatants, I couldn't see them clearly, but one of them resembled the young man from the first segment."
Jiraiya's brows knitted together.
A sense of foreboding grew within him. If the land truly fractured, what level of power would that require? At least the current ninja world couldn't handle it.
"Did you catch any details about their weapons or other distinguishing features?"
"One side bore long swords."
"What about their headbands?"
Snore… snore…
The Great Toad Sage had fallen asleep!
With a sigh, Jiraiya left the hall, his mind still filled with countless questions.
What would the future hold?
Meanwhile, back in the hall…
Though he appeared to be asleep, the Great Toad Sage was, in fact, fully awake.
What he hadn't told Jiraiya was that he had seen more than he revealed.
In the second segment, he had witnessed Ishihara tearing open the sky with his own hands, creating a rift from which strange creatures emerged—beings who looked and fought entirely unlike any known ninja.
"A millennium later, is another alien invasion coming? Can the ninja world endure it this time?"
The Great Toad Sage felt a pang of worry.
---
After returning to Konoha, Jiraiya did not speak of the two prophecies to anyone.
Following a quick stop at the Hokage Tower to handle some affairs, he was led by an Anbu member into a secret chamber.
Inside the chamber was a bed where Naruto lay, eyes closed.
As they walked, the Anbu explained, "Lord Third forced the Nine-Tails back into Naruto using the Reaper Death Seal. Although the seal is in place, it's temporary, so there's still a risk."
Jiraiya nodded.
Minato had inherited many sealing techniques from Kushina, and Jiraiya had studied quite a few as well.
When Minato entrusted him with Naruto's sealing key, he had even brushed up extensively on the Four Symbols Seal and the Eight Trigrams Seal.
Now, Jiraiya had fully mastered both techniques.
Thus, he had come to reinforce the seal on the Nine-Tails and restore Naruto's freedom.
With the Sealing Squad's help, the sealing was quickly completed, though Naruto remained unconscious.
---
In Ishihara's courtyard…
Not long after returning from the Nine-Tails battleground, he began receiving scrolls containing secret techniques from various ninja clans.
The Inuzuka clan's beast techniques, the Aburame clan's insect techniques, the Tsukigase clan's sword techniques, the Uzuki clan's blade techniques, and so on…
He absorbed the simpler techniques at a glance.
Deep exploration was unnecessary; for now, he only needed quantity to strengthen his foundation.
His aim wasn't quality but sheer volume to enhance his own reserves!
This approach stemmed from his realization that ordinary secret techniques and forbidden arts no longer posed much challenge to him.
Late into the night, Ishihara finished reviewing and recording all the techniques.
Standing beneath the moonlight, he stroked his chin thoughtfully.
"Tomorrow, I'll visit the Hyuga clan for the final scroll."
"With that, I'll have learned nearly all of Konoha's secret and forbidden techniques. Next, it's time to start studying the Ten-Tails!"
