A mother's worries

In the dark hour of the midnight, Itachi and Kisame infiltrated the village. They were not there to fight but just to confirm the rumours. The rumour was about dead people coming back to Life. They could have sent a shadow clone. But Itachi had another goal.

Kushina was worried about Naruto. The first problem was that they made her the Jinjuriki of the nine tails. A part of her still blamed herself for being weak and not able to save her daughter. Back then she had no choice but to go with Minato. And now because of his choice her baby girl is in danger. The news that a group of more than ten S rank shinobi were after her was the worst.

She didn't knew about the truth about Itachi like Minato. So the fact that her closest friend's son would be after her daughter was not good. She has still a hard time believing about the Uchiha massacre. A thirteen years old boy did the entire thing was very disturbing.

She had heard about Akatsuki from Jiraya. But she couldn't believe that they were already there for her baby. Then there is another feeling. Call it instinct, but she believed that the masked man is involved with this organisation.

She knew that Minato was hiding many things from her. But she also knew that his position as the Hokage won't allow him to share every information.

"You are late young lady. " Kushina knew that Naruto was only 15 minutes late. But the recent news and events made her worry about Naruto.

"Ummm sorry ?" Naruto was nervous.

"It's okay. I have prepared a bath for you. Go clean yourself. Dinner is almost ready." Kushina told her.

"Okay." Naruto went upstairs.

Just as she was going to check the dinner, she felt two unfamiliar chakra outside their compound.

Due to the new seal they were unable to enter immediately. But one of them have reserves comparable to a tailed beast. Not the nine tails ofcourse.

The other one was vaguely familiar. But his reserves were very small. Like chunin level. So she guessed that it must be a shadow clone.

She didn't know how they managed to infiltrate in the village. But it showed that the village security is lacking.

She immediately made two shadow clones. One went to confront the infiltrators while the other went to manage the barrier. She herself went to Naruto's room. On her way she picked up the marked kunai of Minato and channeled a large amount of chakra through it.

After reaching her room she was relieved that Naruto was still there inside the shower. So she simply waited there for her.

"So the rumours were true after all." Itachi's face was stoic as ever.

"Itachi...you have grown." Kushina didn't know how to feel after seeing the boy. He used to be a cute little boy. She remembered how Mikoto used to rant how genius he was. But now the same boy has grown. He had killed her friend and his entire clan sparing only his brother.

"So this is red chained death, for someone you are so afraid of she looks like a normal house wife." Kisame commented.

For last 5 minutes all of their efforts to break the barrier has gone in vein. Itachi wanted to retreat. Kisame has noticed that the real body of Itachi has completed whatever he was planning to do. His shadow clone with Itachi has vanished. He still didn't know what kind of sick pleasure Itachi got from torturing his little brother, but so far he has done nothing that is without reason. That's why Kisame thought that he must have some kind of hidden motive behind it.

The fuinjutsu barrier outside the house was truly impressive. His samehada couldn't put a dent into it. And after trying for 5 minutes finally a red haired woman appeared. If he has to consider only her outside appearance, then she didn't look impressive at all. Anyone could mistake her as a civilian housewife. Of course he had heard about Red chained death from Konoha during his genin days. Kumo has declared the kunoichi as an S-rank ninja. But at that moment no other nation had taken any action against her. Everyone's focus was on the yellow flash of the leaf.

He has expected her to wait inside the barrier but she came outside. Kisame wasn't a sensor, but the amount of chakra she had was comparable to his own.

"Kisame, retreat." Itachi warned.

Kisame's instincts warned him. And he jumped away. But it was a little too late. Out of four chains that appeared from underground, one was wrapped around his left leg and the other was wrapped around his left arm.

Instinctively he tried to cut the chains with his devouring blade the sharkskin samehada.

But to his surprise, the alive blade slumped down like a spent dick as soon as it touched the chain.

Kisame couldn't feel the chakra around his left limbs and now his blade also became useless.

He quickly tried to retrieve his blade but another chain got wrapped around it and yanked it out from his grip. Kisame tried to use one handed seal to use ninjutsu and free himself. But suddenly the woman yanked him from his position and slammed him to the concrete wall beside him. Only because of his superior physic, he was alive. He didn't get any time to recover and again she yanked him towards her. Out of no where a Katana appeared in her hands. By the time half of his body was useless due to being unable to use chakra.

Now he understood why she was given the title of S rank. From this short exchange, her chakra chains and her mastery over it made her truly dangerous.

He could see that she was aiming for his head. But he knew that Itachi will save him.

As to prove his theory right, Itachi's clone attacked her.

But to his surprise her sword skills were truly amazing. She couldn't finish him due to focusing on Itachi. Even as a clone, Itachi managed to buy time till the real Itachi arrived. Kisame knew that his image has gotten completely ruined in this last few minutes. He would never listen the end of it. But currently he can do nothing. His entire body felt numb. He couldn't even feel his own chakra.

He saw Itachi using the mangekyo Sharingan to summon the inextinguishable black flames to free him.

'Flame sealing' .....and it didn't work. He could see that Itachi was getting tired after using his special trick.

But then he got a chance to make eye contact with the red head.

*Pop*

"Genjutsu, that was her weakness." Itachi panted heavily.

"I still can't believe that she is just a shadow clone." Kisame picked up samehada. Who was back to it's previous self.

"You should have listened to me." Kisame said again.

But then suddenly two people appeared in front of them along with many other hidden shinobi.

One of them was a blonde, famed yellow flash, Kisame recognised.

And the other one is the very innocent looking dangerous red head. He was truly surprised when he tried to scale her chakra reserves. It was thrice the amount he possess.

"Kisame-" Itachi was cut off by Kisame.

"No need to tell me ! I am not an idiot."

In his entire life, Kisame has never faced such humiliation. The next time they face he will definitely get back at her, he promised himself.

AN: I always felt that we never got to see Kushina in action. She had a lot of potential as a character. So I made her a S rank shinobi.

She isn't powerful as Minato. But definitely can wipe the floor with most of the Akatsuki members.
