The duo's mission squad suddenly had an addition: someone from outside the village. This was technically a serious violation of the ninja handbook.
Kakashi was about to say something when Yoichi cut him off. "Kakashi, you need to learn to adapt. Mina became one of the Uchiha clan the moment she agreed. Moreover, Mina is a sensory ninja. You need to understand how much help a sensory ninja can provide to a mission. Learn, Kakashi, learn."
As Yoichi said this, Mina's heart trembled, and she bowed her head.
In the ninja world, calling someone from another clan as one of your own generally means they have married into the clan, like Uzumaki Mina becoming Uchiha Mina. However, Yoichi didn't have such intentions. He thought of taking Mina as a vassal of sorts and then entrusting the Elder to train her. There would definitely be a place for Mina in his squad in the future.
Mina agreed to Yoichi's invitation partly because she didn't have a good time in the Grass Ninja Village. After her abilities were exposed, the Grass ninjas treated her like a walking blood bag. Luckily, Mina hadn't revealed her sealing technique, or the Grass Village would have stripped her of all her value.
"Mina, how large is your sensory range?"
"At most three to four kilometers. I only awakened this ability two months ago, and I'm still not very proficient," Mina said somewhat embarrassedly. She didn't understand the ninja world well, but when she had told Kikawa of the Grass Village, he had disdainfully told her, "That's really useless."
So, Mina thought her sensory ability wasn't developed well.
"Three, three to four kilometers?"
Kakashi was shocked under his mask. Such a sensory range was already very powerful. He remembered his father mentioning that the Hyuga's Byakugan could generally observe a range of one to two kilometers. Moreover, Mina had just awakened this ability, and it seemed it would become even stronger in the future.
Even Kakashi felt envious upon hearing this. The Uzumaki clans' bloodline abilities, although not combat-oriented, were terrifyingly strong.
Thinking this, Kakashi felt Yoichi might have heard about the abilities of the Uzumaki clan and thus wanted to take Mina away immediately upon seeing her.
Although this was technically against the Leaf Village's rules, it at least doubled the success rate of the mission.
"Our next mission is here, a Rock Ninja outpost. According to the treaty revised after the Second Ninja World War, each ninja village can only build outposts within their own country, but this time the Rock Ninjas have built an outpost in the Land of Grass," Yoichi briefed on the mission, mainly for Mina to hear.
As for breaking the rules? As long as he could complete the mission, that was all that mattered; he wouldn't let any rules restrict him. If not for Yoichi needing the experience from combat, he wouldn't bother going out to take missions for such rewards.
However, the mission had another benefit for him: legal plundering. All the loot obtained during the mission, besides the mission rewards, could be handed over to the Leaf but only if you want.
"To put it simply, this mission is to remind the Rock Ninjas of the treaty and to uproot the outpost in the Land of Grass. Generally, an outpost only has a Chunin squad, it's unlikely there will be a Jonin, but to be on the safe side," Yoichi said, turning his head to look at Mina, who was listening intently, and spoke, "Mina, can you sense how much chakra the target has?"
"I should be able to, but I need to get closer. If it's at the limit of my range, the sensing becomes very vague."
"Alright, when the time comes, use me as a reference to sense the number of ninjas and their chakra levels."
Yoichi also assigned Mina a task. A large amount of chakra doesn't necessarily mean strength, but a small amount of chakra means the ninja is likely weak. They wouldn't be able to use many jutsus, let alone engage in any pre-combat probing.
"Rest for the night, we'll depart tomorrow. I'm going out for a bit, don't worry about me," Yoichi said before preparing to head out. Kakashi initially wanted to ask Yoichi about his purpose and to follow him. However, he reconsidered after receiving a look.
Leaving the resting place, Yoichi ran about six or seven kilometers southward. There was a mountain hollow they had passed during the day, and he stopped there.
"About far enough, I hope my first summoning won't be a disappointment," Yoichi intended to test his ability to summon randomly, refreshing the skill as he had never used it before. He would feel somewhat discontent if it went unused.
"Come forth from the otherworld, Summon!" Uchiha Yoichi shouted loudly, as required by the Superpower Roulette, which always managed to introduce some novelty.
After saying these words, a large summoning array appeared in front of Yoichi, followed by a booming sound and a burst of purple light and smoke from the summoning array.
After the summoning array appeared, Yoichi quickly moved backward. However, he suddenly noticed there was still a summoning notification on the panel of the Superpower Roulette, so he opened it to check.
[Mountain Goats from the Forest of Elements]: Once wanted off by various races intending to hunt them using their sturdy horns but found out their horns offered no protection. They could only rely on their instincts to survive under the protection of elemental spirits. (The meat is extremely delicious, thanks to living in the forest rich in magical elements. Eating their meat can quickly restore vitality.) (Note: Summon recorded, can be summoned repeatedly or re-summoned.)
"Th-this introduction... I summoned a lamb skewer?" Yoichi twitched his mouth. After the smoke dispersed, he saw the mountain goat he had just summoned. Its appearance was indeed exquisite, belonging to the finest among goats. Moreover, its wool was as white as snowflakes. However, it seemed to have no combat capability as mentioned in the introduction.
Sizzle!
A surge of lightning surged around Yoichi, and he appeared next to the goat instantly, pressing it down with one hand.
The goat, suddenly attacked, panicked, its four hooves flailing in an attempt to escape. However, its strength was no match for Yoichi's. Struggling for a while, it still couldn't break free from his grip. Yoichi was now certain that this mountain goat from the Forest of Elements had absolutely no combat power.
"My first summoning is a lamb. Should I consider myself lucky?" Since he didn't summon a powerful exotic beast, it was still acceptable. If he had, it would have been troublesome for him, as finding one that suited him immediately was unlikely.
Yoichi exerted a bit more force with his hand, directly killing the goat, then stored it in a storage scroll, ready to taste the extremely delicious meat of the mountain goat when the opportunity arose.
