Chapter 14: Scarred...Danger

As I was walking in the streets of New York, I could hear people talking about the incident that happened in the forest yesterday. I put my cloak on which had my family crest on it, people were looking at me, and it really annoyed me. I felt the pressure as I ran and got into a dark street. My back rested on the wall, as I took a deep breath. I was wearing black cargo pants and a military shirt with high enough boots to cover half of my leg. My cloak was long enough to cover my whole body. My hair was tied in a milkmaid bun. I looked around me only to see garbage bins and scattered cans of red bull and energy drinks. When I realized that there was no one around me, I opened my wide white wings and flew upward. I landed on the top of the building as I was watching the scenery. The wind was soft and cold as I clenched my cloak tightly. I was staring at the lights when I felt a strange figure standing in the shadows. Memories flashed in my mind. A strong feeling of hatred and pain hit my heart like a knife. I realized that I was in a situation with no return. I was scared and ready to fight at the same time.

"Sup, princess," He said with a maniac voice. I tried to analyze it but in vain. He was walking forward as I took steps backward.

"Who are you?" I asked.

"So, you don't remember me, the one who your father, the king was about to kill, but couldn't," He said. Finally, the moonlight was shining on his face. His hairs were the color of the ice and his eyes were grey as the ash. He had a scar on his right eye, he was tall and was wearing a cloak too. he was wearing a white shirt with a blue waistcoat, and straight pants matched his waistband. His shoes were shining from the light. He had his cloak on him, and he lowered down his cap.

"You, what are you doing here?" I asked, he looked at me.

"Well, visiting, an old friend," he said, smirking at me. I felt something pulling me towards him, before I could react, I saw myself on the ground. I couldn't control myself, or that's what I thought. When I looked at him, I saw his hands moving the same way I did, and, I realized that he was controlling me. Before I could say anything, I hit my back on the wall.

"Stop," someone said. I tilted my head to see Lucas standing in front of her. He was wearing a cloak that had my family crest on it from the back. He was protecting me.

"Are you okay princess?" he asked. I shook my head and said yes. His wings were wide open, slowly closing and vanishing in his back. I got up on my feet and looked at him. he stopped e from going further.

"Don't come nearer, go home, this is between me and him," he said, but I didn't agree. I was scared that something might happen to him. I wanted to be with him. I felt a fight is about to rage.

"I won't leave you alone, not this time," I said. I grabbed his shoulder and threw him on the ground. I had to do it. If not, I knew that I was about to lose him. I didn't want to lose him, certainly not this time.

"I'm sorry Lucas, but I have to do this," I said and tied him up with vines that lurked from the ground. Now, it was only me and my rival. I waited for him to attack me. He used his powers to end me but I resisted. He was throwing fireballs and rocks, using shadows and dark energy while I protected myself and Lucas with my white magic, water, and earth element. In the end, we were both exhausted. I tried to control myself, but I was about to collapse when I saw my best friend protecting me. She was hit with a knife, which led her to look at my rival while holding the knife that was inserted into her stomach.

"L...Laura" I said, shaking. I looked around me to see that my rival disappeared. I ran to grab her as she collapsed in my hand. She was looking at me, trying to breathe.

"Please, don't...don't leave me, do you hear me," I said, holding her tight. Her face turned pale and her eyes were closing slowly.

"Please don't, I need you here, please. I beg you to not leave me, I'll do anything" I said, tears running down my face. The next thing I hear is Lucas calling the paramedic to send a helicopter into the building.

"I'm sorry...I'm so...sorry" she was saying, her voice shaking. I was rocking her, and I was crying at the same time. Lucas came to me and hold my hand, while Laura closed her eyes. I felt, time ticking. That a part of my soul left me. I was torn apart, I didn't know what to do. Thoughts were raging, I couldn't see clearly in front of me.

"No, no...no please, please. Stick with me, ill save you, just stay" I said panicking, at that moment I heard the sound of the helicopter coming closer. I lift my head to the sky to see a helicopter coming toward me. It landed safely and the paramedic rushed towards us. Lucas grabbed me as I rose to my feet. He hugged me tightly while I was sobbing in his arms.

"I have to go, please, I need to go," I said, before falling in his arms. He caught me before falling on my knees. I was trying to catch my breath. The only thing I could think of is my best friend's safety, I rose to my feet again and rushed to the helicopter with Lucas. With the paramedic, we flew to the nearest hospital. There was a lot of blood. My clothes were stained with blood and my fingers were all red. I tried to remain calm and the only thing I could do was praying that God will save my best friend. After some time we landed safely on the top of the hospital as the nurses and the doctors rushed to help us, they took her to the surgery while we were waiting outside. What will happen to my best friend, I thought. Will she get out alive?
