Chapter Ten: The Twins Second Reunion

The twins just left their Aunt's apartment. Lorella  used the elevator separately while Norella used the stairs. Lorella was about leaving the building when she remembered that her sister promised to tell her something about their dad, what is the point of waiting again for her sister? After all, Auntie Irene just explained everything and has told them all that they needed to know, but at least, she wants to know her father's whereabout. She needs to know because it is important that she knows, right?  After all, he is her father too. No matter what he has done in the past, he remains her father. Nothing on earth can change that fact. " I need to know his whereabout" Lorella muttered to herself. " I have to ask my twin sister, oh God. How do I ask her about his whereabout after what I just said to her some few minutes ago?" "How do I go about this, okay I know what to do. I will just act calmly and ask her nicely" she said as she took in a very deep breathe. Twelve seconds later, her sister walked past her. "Norella" Lorella said " there is something I would like and maybe love to talk to you about" Lorella added. "About what, Lorella" She said as she stopped and was looking over her shoulder, glancing at her  twin sister behind her. "It is about dad, can you tell me where he is at or perhaps, it would be a favour if you can kindly show me where he is at. You know where he is, right? You have been with him the whole time, ever since that night it happened. How many days has it been now? Three days, four days. To be honest I have lost count" Lorella said to her twin sister. "Oh sweet Lord, are you done talking? Is that the question you stopped me to ask? You are so immature, no wonder am older. You are the person making this story boring" Norella said mockingly to her twin sister. "Can't you see? That is why it is titled My Twin Sister. I am that twin sister which makes me the main or lead protagonist and you the second protagonist. You are so dumb" Lorella said mocking her twin sister back. "Think about the title again. It is My Twin Sister. I am the narrator on the title, I was talking about you. It is a phrase and that makes me the protagonist" Norella said mockingly to her twin sister again. "Wow, you even know what a phrase is, who taught you, your literature teacher?" Lorella said mockingly to her twin sister and busted out a loud and annoying laughter. "May I ask you a question real quick?" Lorella asked again."Yeah sure, because you are a science student does not make you smarter than I am. Remember, I am the older twin, that makes me more smarter in other criteria and even more matured in every aspects of life than you. So bring it on". Norella said proudly to her twin sister. "What is the shortest phrase in English language?" Lorella asked her sister and made it obvious that she is going to tease her if she does not give the correct answer. "I am, and by the way it is not just a phrase, it is also the shortest sentence in the English language. E shock you, abi? Norella boasted to her sister and started laughing at her mockingly. "And you were even ready to start teasing me" Norella added and started laughing uncontrollably even more. " Whatever" Lorella said disappointedly and rolled her eyes. "Can you turn and face me please". Lorella said calmly to her sister. Norella obeyed and was trying to suppress her ongoing laughter. "Can you stop now?" Lorella said and was patiently waiting for her sister to stop laughing. "You see? Maturity is not by age. You cannot even control your laughter, by the way, what is even funny?" Lorella asked her twin sister angrily. "Yeah I know, maturity is not by age and age is just a number, right? But we are age mates" Norella said mockingly and busted out into another round of annoying laughter. Lorella did not move or said anything, she just stood there, watching her twin sister displaying her stupidity. "What an idiot" Lorella muttered to herself. When Norella finally cooled down, she said, "I will show you where he is, come on, let us go" and they both left their Aunt's compound for the hospital their father was receiving treatment.

They were already on their way to the hospital to meet their sick father when Norella brought up a very stupid, "How about we go to a party?" "What?" Shocked Lorella asked "We should go to a party at this point in time?" She asked again, though she was still shocked and very angrily. "Are you out of your mind? Are you crazy? You are so dumb. I want to see dad, I have to see him today, please?" "We still have time and besides dad needs to rest a lot, we should give him some time to rest, it will help him recover quickly, that was what his doctor said" Norella said to her twin sister. "Okay, fine, I will allow you to go only on one condition" Lorella said to her twin sister. "No, it is not just me that I want to go to the party, it is the two of us , both of us. Please,com on, we should go. There is no harm in attending a party" Norella said then pouted. "What party are we talking about here,a birthday party or a pool party or a wedding party or a matriculation party or a graduation party or a wedding anniversary party or a church anniversary party or a burial party or baby naming ceremony party or a wedding proposal party. Did someone give just had a child after many years of marriage? Is it a launch party, is a bar celebrating their anniversary today? Did a bad person die? Did a notorious criminal got caught today and is about to face justice. Is dad getting discharged from the hospital today? Are mom and dad finally back together today? Norella said to her sister, she has been shouting all those words which made them the center of attention in the whole street, people were leaving what they were doing, passers by stopped walking and started staring, shop owners and customers leaving their business, even the ones making their hair, including kids and adults alike and started looking too, even the children playing stopped and was staring happily at them. "See oyinbo twins" some of them muttered among themselves. (Oyinbo means white person, it is a word commonly used in Nigeria). "Why are they quarrelling? They are white twins, I think they are mixed. Are they real white? They are so beautiful. It is my first time seeing white people in persons, at least I saw two at once" the starers and their admirers were saying to themselves. "Lorella, can you please stop" Norella shouted back at her twin sister. Can you not see that you are causing a scene here, an unnecessary attention, it is not needed. Okay am sorry for bringing up such an issue, a topic rather. Okay, you can go to the hospital if you want, I want to go to the party. Like you said while we were still at Aunt Irene's compound, I have been the one with dad since that night, you can replace me for now. I have to take a rest, am human too. Don't I deserve to rest, why do you guys always make me feel like the bad person?" Norella asked her twin sister as tears was already rolling down her eyes. " You see now? You are the one cause of an unnecessary attention towards us. Okay please stop crying, so that we can talk properly and maturely". Lorella said to her sad twin sister. "Okay " Norella said and wiped her eyes with the collar of the top. "Am just saying we should wine and dine for a while and besides it is free. My friend on Facebook invited me to his party, do not worry he is a nice guy, he does not bite. I promise, once the party is over we shall be heading to the hospital, no side talks" Norella said and hoped her twin sister accepts her proposal this time. "Are you sure?" Lorella asked her twin sister and rolled her eyes. "And you promise we WILL go to the hospital to meet dad once the party is over? Lorella asked her twin sister again to be sure. "Yes, I am sure" Norella said as they both left and headed to the party.
