Chapter LII: Cornered.

Last Time.

Hall Of Justice, March 31, 08:45 EDT.

Jaime looked to Grifter after seeing the report that's been playing all day on multiple news stations.

"That's why you've been hostile towards me since you and the others came to this time." Grifter only looked at him with a mild scoff.

"Bart gave you the sugar-coated version of your future self. You and the scarab have done far worse than aid in enslaving humanity." Grifter replied looking at the screen. Jaime gave him an inquiring look, but couldn't shake off a slight feeling of dread.

"Do you and the Scarab ever wonder why the old man refuses to stay with his past self in his home, even after the destruction of Mount Justice? Or why he brought Allen and I to the past instead of Donna, M'gann, or any of his children or wives?"

Jaime looks confused at first but soon develops a look of horror and disbelief. Grifter moves off the wall and stands beside him.

"If the old man didn't keep insisting on it, I'd have gutted you like a fish and slowly torched the parasite attached to you, just to make sure it was able to feel at least one thing before it died. I'd have done all that the second we got out of that pod. However, the old man has a plan to save you both, as well as the future, so I'm going along with it."

Grifter pauses as he looks at Jaime's still form. "But if that plan doesn't pan out, then I'll be the one to end you both." He finished before walking away, leaving both Jaime and the Scarab to their thoughts.

Now.

Milky Way April 1, 0:16 UTC.

Aboard a spacecraft wandering through space, a small drone with a golden hue, a circular head, with an orange visor floated in front of holographic projections of multiple superheroes from Earth.

In front of the robot, a tall muscular figure with vivid purple skin sat on a throne-like chair. He has a square head with no hair, instead sporting a large fin in the middle. He doesn't have a nose and has a third eye above the other two, which is currently closed.

He's wearing battle armor ranging from his left shoulder to his entire right arm.

L-Ron went to a hologram of the Leaguers who are on Rimbor before stopping at Superman's and speaking in an alien language.

(A/N: Since L-Ron spoke in an alien language. His words will be Underline until the Earth scenes.)

"This one has flight, strength, invulnerability, and heat vision..." He said getting Despero to grin, showing sharp teeth. "Unfortunately, all these warriors are on Rimbor... Under the protectionism of the Green Lanterns." L-Ron finished getting Despero to frown, and clench his fist.

L-Ron brought up more holograms of Captain Atom, Captain Marvel, and Kage. "But they demonstrate that Earth is a breeding ground for Champions. And you will have your pick." L-Ron went to Captain Marvel as an x-ray came up beside his hologram. "Now, wouldn't this specimen look good on your wall?"

L-Ron floated around the room showing several mounted heads of alien animals, and different skeletons.

"Yes, it's a tad smaller than you're used to. But why settle for one? You may take all Earth has to offer, Master... Without batting an eye." He finished getting Despero's third eye to open, and glow yellow.

Gotham; Naruto's Penthouse April 1, 09:09 EDT.

Naruto sat at the kitchen table reading on a tablet before something dropped in front of him. Looking at the table, he raised an eyebrow at the square packet of ramen.

"What the hell is this?" He asked Jade who was the one to drop it and was putting Lian in her high chair.

"Your breakfast. I thought you'd be thrilled to have ramen for breakfast."

"This isn't ramen. This crap, on its best day, wishes it was imitation ramen!" He yelled as Damian ran in and got in his chair.

Talia, wearing green pajamas walked in and up to the fridge. She opened the door as she stood to the side having a dozen eggs fly out, and hit the wall.

She moved through the fridge and reached passed some fake skulls before picking up orange juice, and one fake skeleton.

"That's cute, honey."

"Cute?!"

"Well, people DO grow up," Talia said leaning towards Naruto so she was at eye level with him.

"Then how do you explain me?" Naruto asked getting Talia to give him a chaste kiss.

"I gave up on that a long time ago."

"I got so much stuff to do today I don't know where to start! " Artemis ran in while fixing on her shirt.

"Honey, try having some tea," Naruto said after hiding the fake skull.

"Good idea." She reached for the pot and brought it to the sink.

And had a fake alien head come out of the garbage disposal. She looked at it for a moment before looking up. "(Gasp) It's April 1st!"

Naruto groaned as he rubbed his face and Artemis quickly ran around the room.

"I need to get to class, I gotta get some books-!"

"Honey." Naruto gestured to the sink.

"Oh! You got me good."

Naruto's shoulder slumped at that. "I heard this happened to other guys... I just didn't think it'd happen to me. I can't perform."

"You were great last night."

Naruto looked to see Zatanna and Crystal walk in.

"Not that! Gags. I used to be the king of pranks! So far today, nothing!"

"Well, you still have fifteen hours. I bet you'd get someone by then." Artemis said walking to the door.

"You're just saying that," Naruto said dejectedly as Paula walked in from the front door looking at a stack of mail. And sidestepped as a bucket of water fell. "Oh, come on! Even the classics?!"

"Blame Sara, she's the one that told me," Paula said looking up as her daughter mouthed what was wrong as Mari followed. Naruto sighed as he looked at his bouncing daughter.

"Lian. Never grow up."

She just giggled and clapped her hands at her father.

New York City April 1, 19:20 EDT.

Kage stood off to the side of the crowds as Captain Atom and the Reach Ambassador shook hands in front of a press conference at the United Nations, along with Prime Minister Tseng.

He saw the Ambassador try to rile Atom up by saying the League would attack them if diplomacy failed before they left to talk privately. Suddenly, his glasses beeped before hitting a button, showing G. Gordon Godfrey on his show's stage.

"Private meeting? Is this an April Fools Day prank?! Or just another example of the League, hiding their true agenda from yo-AGH!"

He was abruptly stopped as what looked like chocolate fell on him and the background showed pictures of Gordon with different kinds of makeup on.

"Oh no, this not choc-!"

The screen cut to a technical difficulties screen before Naruto smirked as he disappeared into a cloud of smoke.

Taos April 1, 17:23 MDT.

The Team members who had been abducted by the Reach, along with the teens the Reach had experimented on and Nathaniel A.K.A. Neutron are seated in a hallway at S.T.A.R. Labs.

Tye Longshadow emerges from a makeshift conference room as Black Canary, who is debriefing everyone, asks Virgil to speak to her next.

"Tye!" Blue Beetle yelled before hearing the Scarab.

"Hold, Jaime Reyes. The Tye Longshadow does not know us in this form."

"Ty-ime to stretch!" Blue said covering up his slip-up.

Inside, Kage leaned against the wall as Canary spoke. "Virgil, I know you've been through a lot. But I'd still like to ask you a few questions."

"I got one: How come I'm on camera," Virgil asked pointing to the camera that was on a tripod beside Canary's desk.

"Why? So I remember what you say." She replied interlocking her fingers as she rested her arms on the desk. "I'm speaking to everyone to provide counsel. But also to know what happened and hope to gain some insight as to why the Reach chose you."

"Well the ones out there, come from a broken home, and/or run away due to some problem with that. Was that what happened to you?" Naruto asked Virgil who shook his head.

"No. I was waiting for my sister at a bus stop when I was nabbed."

"They must have thought you were running away because you were by yourself."

Virgil picked a paper clip up and played with it. Naruto was the only one to notice the tiny sparks on it.

"All I know is they wanted to break me."

"Why do you say that?" Black Canary asked as Virgil sighed.

"The tests. They started small... Like static shocks. But, they kept upping the juice. Until it felt like I was eaten by lightning. Still... I was one of the lucky ones. The alien freakazoids didn't like the results from some of the other kids. Kids we never saw again."

He then stood up. "Look, when can I go home? My family's probably wo-!"

"I told all your family where you are. They're coming down here. For now, you're probably staying here with Spike's father to make sure the Reach didn't do anything to you like Nathaniel out there when he attacked Central City." Naruto replied as Virgil looked at him.

"Spike?" Virgil asked getting Naruto to sigh.

"Eduardo. Man, that just made me feel old."

Virgil left after throwing the clip back in its holder. Knocking it over and had all the other clips move to it, and form a ball. Dinah reached for the ball, only to reel back as it gave a rather powerful shock.

"Oh here, let me get it," Naruto said picking up the ball and pocketing it. "By the way... What the hell are they showing kids nowadays? Virgil never even got that reference."

"How should I know? The kids at home are still on pre-school shows."

"Yeah. At least they didn't suffer through the boy bands from the early 2000s."

"Actually, they're making a comeback," Dinah said looking to Naruto who moved to take the SD card out of the camera.

"Well, shit."

Blüdhaven April 1, 21:15 EDT.

In a warehouse, Nightwing opened the slider door as Mal, Superboy, Wolf, and Miss Martian got off the Super Cycle.

"Nice! Perfect for our new digs. On the outside, it's downright nasty. But on the inside..." Mal said before walking inside. "It's downright nasty. April Fools, right?"

"Nope, we weren't planning on using any other place but Mount Justice. This is only temporary, a place to crash for those of you that were living in the Cave." Kage said from a deck that was built in the middle of the wall.

Below are several beds with curtains for privacy. "We'll be doing our missions in the Hall of Justice. The others are helping Black Canary with the teens the Reach had." He finished before seeing Red Torpedo and Red Inferno walk in with several boxes.

"Thanks," Naruto said as they waved.

"Just helping out while our brother is away on a mission," Inferno stated before Naruto nodded.

"(Sigh) Tell him I'll fix his room in the upper room. M'gann, Conner, go to Mount Justice and help move any boxes and stack the ones that'll come here." Naruto finished before poofing into a cloud of smoke.

Washington D.C. April 1, 21:24 EDT.

The Team with Zatanna, Mary Marvel, and Captain Marvel. Zatanna set a box down as Mal was talking to Bumblebee who had her cowl down.

"So I figured I'd just... crash with you," Mal said getting Karen's eyes to widen.

"Uh... Now? Now's not a good time. I'm studying all the time. I don't think I'm even allowed to have crashers."

Suddenly, they heard beeping before hearing a male voice coming from outside. "Greetings and salutations, Earth champions." Captain Marvel and Zatanna ran out to see L-Ron floating to them. "I am L-Ron. Majordomo to the great Master. And you are my prisoners!"

"Ha! This must be one of Plastic Man's pranks!" Captain Marvel said crossing his arms. "Okay, Plas! You got us!"

"No, I got you," L-Ron said as a red grid cage came over. "Though not for myself, of course. Rather I'm holding you here at the behest of my Master, who wishes to prove himself against Earth's greatest warriors!" He said as Despero appeared before them, and kicked Marvel into the hall, breaking everything in his path.

"Knis nwod otni eht... (Sink down into the...)" Zatanna stopped as Despero's third eye opened and glowed yellow, having her drop her arms and stare off into space. (1.)

"Ah, ah, ah, Magic is cheating," L-Ron said as Despero walked inside. "Allow me to introduce my Master. The Warlord Despero! Planetary champion of 92 star systems. Working on 93 now."

"He has come to this backwater planet, seeking a challenge to prove his superiority over all lifeforms. It's quite the compliment. You should feel honored." L-Ron finished as Captain Marvel rubbed his chin as he got up.

"Oh, I am. Here, let me show him!" Marvel said before flying into Despero and slammed him against the wall before being thrown up to the ceiling by Despero.

Suddenly, Mary flew in and uppercut Despero, who only grabbed her cape and flung her into the costume displays, destroying the cases. Despero then punched Captain Marvel into Superman's bronzed statue, destroying the head.

"RAAH!" Mary flew back towards Despero and was punched into Naruto's statue and bounced into Wonder Woman's, knocking them both down. The others ran out as L-Ron looked at Superboy.

"Check on Zatanna," Superboy said to Bumblebee who was in her bee form.

Bumblebee flew over to Zatanna and tried to wake her out of her daze. She sighed before zapping Zatanna. Only for nothing to happen before trying to break through the dome.

"Damn it!" She cursed as nothing happened to the dome.

New York City April 1, 21:40 EDT.

"I appreciate the Reach's honesty," Tseng said as he looked out the window of his office The Ambassador and Captain Atom sat, and stood near his desk.

"We believe there should be no secret among allies."

"Odd, seeing as the Reach has spent so much time on Earth before going public." Atom said getting the Ambassador to look at him.

"True, but we were afraid you'd attack us. The Justice League are wanted criminals throughout the Galaxy."

"Wanted criminals?" Tseng asked Adam who looked at him.

"It's complicated," Atom replied before looking to the Ambassador.

"And I suppose it's complicated when you attacked my ship with your covert ops?" The Ambassador asked leaning forward in his seat.

"That's not what happened and you know it."

"Are you saying you don't have young covert ops Captain? Because I know for a fact, that you do." Tseng said getting Atom to look at him.

"The Reach abducted several people!"

"That was the Kroloteans. Are you saying we all look alike?" The Ambassador asked before Atom had a call.

"Atom here."

"..."

"What situation at the Hall?"

Washington DC. April 1, 21:59 EDT.

Mary was shot up into the air and hit the force field as the Army, and Black Lightning tried to break through it. She fell and landed inside, creating a crater.

Superboy was hit by the legs of Martian Manhunter's statue, having it fall on him as Miss Martian and Mal ran in.

"Miss Martian you have to do something!" Bumblebee yelled having Miss Marian lift her uncle's statue and throw it at Despero who just punched it, breaking it to pieces. He lifted Wonder Woman's head before throwing it at them, having the trio dodge.

"Come on Miss M! Brain Blast him!" Mal yelled getting Miss Martian to think of what happened with Kaldur.

"No!"

"SHAZAM!/SHAZAM!"

Both Marvel's yelled out, as they held Despero by the back.

CRACK!

One large lightning bolt hit Despero who just picked the twins up, and opened his eyes. He dropped the two down on the ground as Bumblebee hid.

Taos April 1, 20:03 MDT.

Lagoon Boy walked into the office as Impulse walked out. And was pulled by Blue Beetle to the other hallway.

"What did you tell them?!"

"That you go all Reach on us and enslave all of Humanity. Come on, I didn't say a thing. See, I don't know what turns you. For all I know, telling the League is what starts it. So I say we keep quiet about it."

Suddenly, Naruto E. walked up and looked at them. "He is right Jaime. While in our original timeline, you don't actually help until a few years from now. We don't know when the Reach took control of your Scarab."

"Took control?" Impulse said as Naruto nodded.

"Yeah, Jaime here talked to me on the way here after Grifter told him of his 'future'. The Reach said the Scarab's in offline mode and would need to reset it. But that would kill Jaime. So either they killed Jaime and switched him with someone. Or, when we saved Flash, that changed things here."

"And I mean Flash dying had Jamie do something that caused the Scarab to turn on. Jaime, this comes from experience, trying to co-exist with the Scarab. Trust each other. I mean if I can do it with the being that, well, at the time of doing so thought to kill my parents and half of my village because he wanted to."

"You can do it with an alien A.I. that doesn't work for them yet." Naruto finished walking away.

"They are right Jaime Reyes." The Scarab said as Beetle went back to his seat.

Washington DC. April 1, 22:07 EDT.

Despero slams Superboy into the wall before running him into the weapons cases and has the League's bronzed logos fall onto the floor. Miss Martian used her telekinesis to bring Superboy over to her having L-Ron float up to Despero.

"Do you Earthlings have no concept of honorable single combat?"

Despero dashed to them and crashed into Superboy, taking them up to the upper floor as the women followed. L-Ron did the same as Mal looked at Guardian's costume.

Up above, Despero hit Superboy into the meeting room. He jumped down and picked Superboy up. He started to pull Superboy's head as Bumblebee looked at Miss Martian.

"M'gann! Now or never!" She yelled getting Miss Martian to remember what she did to Kaldur once again.

"(Gasp) No!"

"Okay. Then I'll do something!" Bumblebee yelled shooting Despero with her stinger shots before flying in front of Despero. He opened his third eye, having Bumblebee gasped as her hands jerked up to hit Despero in the third eye before falling, staring blankly into space.

Suddenly, Mal in Guardian's costume stepped on the broken window.

"You want Earth's Champion? Well... You got him!"

Taos April 1, 20:39 MDT.

"We assumed that the Scarab was Ted's invention," Canary said as she laced her fingers.

"Well, you know what they say about assuming?" Kage said leaning against the wall.

"Don't start, Mr. 'I found out the Scarab wasn't an invention'," Canary replied glancing at Naruto.

"Hey, you all never asked. You never asked me how my day was going, asked me for coffee up in the Tower. No nothing!"

"The Reach tried to use my Scarab to control me. But it didn't work. Their Scientist said the only way to re-boot it. Was to kill me." Jaime informed them.

"So, the Reach created it, but they can't control it? Jaimie, that may make you our best weapon against them." Canary said with a smile.

Washington DC. April 1, 22:48 EDT.

"How could you leave him there?! Get your Martian mind in the game!" Superboy yelled as he, Miss Martian stepped out of the elevator as Mal was buying them time to think of something.

"Nothing Earthly or telepathically works. And I can't hack him psychologically, I just can't."

"Then don't. But do something!" He yelled running out as she looked to Bumblebee in her hands.

Superboy jumped to the ceiling and grabbed Mal before pulling him down into the interrogation room. In the other room. Miss Martian had her eyes glow and reversed what Despero did to the others just as he lifted Mal.

"Ees tahw I ees! (See what I see!)" Mal's eyes lit up yellow as Zatanna spoke through him having Despero's power be directed back at him.

Superboy grabbed him just as L-Ron flew in and had a bunch of weapons come out of his body.

"Poor Sportsmanship!"

Suddenly, Billy dropped down and grabbed the robot. "Let's try this again."

"SHAZAM!"

The lighting hit them both as Mary Marvel flew to the others. Suddenly, L-Ron's head glowed yellow as a hologram timer came up.

"Uh-oh," Marvel said before flying to the others just as L-Ron's head blew up.

BOOM!

Outside, Zatanna flew up as the Hall imploded on itself. "Etativel! (Levitate!)" She flew down as the Marvel siblings lifted debris off of the others.

"No one's hurt," Mary said looking up.

Later, Captain Atom arrives at the Hall, but he, Captain Marvel, and Zatanna are unable to bring down the force field. The Reach Ambassador arrives with Tseng and uses a device to remove the force field.

Captain Atom reluctantly thanks him and the Ambassador says the League is fortunate to still have the Watchtower.

Blüdhaven April 2, 09:05 EDT.

The Team, minus Naruto, M'gann, Impulse, and Blue Beetle watched G. Gordon Godfrey's report on what happened at the Hall.

G. Gordon Godfrey replayed the footage of the Hall again before looking at the camera. "Did you hear that folks? The Justice League has its own eye in the sky! Spying on the very people they're supposed to protect! Thank goodness for honest allies like the Reach. And a wise man like Secretary Tseng."

"Who has invited our new friends to extend their stay on Earth."

Nightwing shut off the TV. before looking at Mal. "What happened to your... other arrangements?"

"What would you guys do without me?"

Chicago April 2, 21:08 CDT.

John Jones held a box as he went up to his apartment building. He went to the door just as it opened.

"Mr. Jones. I haven't seen you in weeks." An elderly woman greeted him.

"I've been... traveling, Mrs. Berkowitz. But it is good to be home." He replied before going to his apartment.

And shifted into Megan wearing strapped high heels, jeans, and a pink button shirt over a purple one.

She started to water the plants before stopping as she heard a knock at the door.

"Megan. We need to talk."

She opened it to show Naruto wearing jeans, tennis shoes, a leather jacket over a black shirt, and a backpack.

He sat on the couch and put the backpack on the floor between his legs.

"Why didn't you tell us?! About Kaldur! And Stephanie!" Megan asked Naruto who glanced at her.

"Like I said when we thought we had a mole; it's not that I don't trust you. But this needed to be known in a small group. Hell, bringing all four of the others is too risky."

"But-!"

"But nothing, M'gann. I couldn't take the chance of Kaldur being found out. Which may now happen if they get someone to look at him more closely." Naruto said while reaching into his backpack.

"Now to make sure you don't talk..." He trailed off unzipping the back, and reached inside.

M'gann's eyes widened as he pulled his hand back out. And showed a large package of Oreo cookies, with more in his bag.

"You don't talk and you can have-OH SHIT!" Naruto yelled as he was tackled to the floor. Paper and crumbs fly into the air.

Later, Naruto was watching TV before he heard a groan. Blinking, he looked to his right and saw that his backpack was empty, and M'gann was lying beside him, covered in crumbs.

"Ha! And people say I'm bad with ramen." He said before pulling her feet onto his lap and continuing to watch TV.

Taos April 2, 19:09 MDT.

A clone of Kage stood beside Black Canary as Naruto E. and Grifter stood near the door and Nightwing sat in front of them.

In front of them is Captain Atom. "The Reach used our own secrets against us. And beat us without firing a shot. Even offered to take Despero off our hands. And I couldn't come up with a reason to say no. Do you have something useful?" He asked Canary who nodded.

"Some answers. With the obvious exception of Blue Beetle, the Reach abductees are two types: Those with powers. And those who have the potential to gain them." She said holding the ball of paper clips.

"Naruto was right. The Meta-Gene is a dormant power that, when exposed to trauma, can manifest. The Reach, I think, seeks to cultivate the gene."

"I guess when the six that went missing displayed their power, the Reach saw and wanted to see if it could be weaponized," Naruto said before Blue Beetle walked in.

"Blue what-?!" Canary stopped as Impulse ran in and tried to stop Beetle.

"Look, Grifter and Impulse told me that the Reach somehow gained control of my Scarab. So by whatever means. Get this off me." He said having the armor go back into the Scarab, turned around to show the blue scared latched onto him and pointed at it.

Grifter walked up and pulled out a knife.

"Yoink!" Naruto said grabbing his future self's 'Partner'.

"Hey, he gave his blessing! You all heard it!" Grifter said bringing up his hands in mock surrender. He was then yanked by his shirt collar and was now eye-to-eye with Black Canary.

"Pull another stunt like that again, and I'll give another reason to wear that rag over your face! Got it?!" she shouted.

Grifter immediately nodded his head as she released him.

Blüdhaven April 3 05:06 EDT.

Naruto E. walked out of the bathroom on the top floor of the warehouse before looking to see a picture of his younger self fighting a man.

The man is a tall, slender man, with long white hair, and a full beard. He is missing his right eye and is wearing an eyepatch, while the remaining eye is blue. His armor is primarily black and gray, with goldenrod greaves and gauntlets.

On the ground is a matching goldenrod mask with a black area that obscures the right half. He's wearing a utility belt with pouches and sheaths for a sword and staff on his back

(Flashback.)

Gotham; G.C.P.D. October 31, 23:05 EDT.

"OK. Let's see. First, establish comms with the Clock Tower. They need to upgrade these machines... OK, we're in." Miss Martian said turning on the computer by the Evidence Room.

And saw the Knight's men attack the servers on the floors underneath the living quarters. "Damn it. Scarecrow's men are already there."

"(Sigh) I thought they would leave once the Knight did," Naruto said before Batman spoke up.

"They're trying to take out the server room. Copy the data off the mainframe."

"I can't. They're locking down our access." Miss Martian replied before the two left.

"Team. Stay here. The Scarecrow might try to release the others." Naruto said walking with Batman as he saw Simon Stagg in the cell as well.

When they got to the door, the TV by the metal detector beeped

'ALL CRIMINALS CAUGHT'

Suddenly, a clone of Naruto came in with Deathstroke.

"Deathstroke. I did hear a clone say you took over for the Knight." Naruto said as Deathstroke looked at him.

"She paid well in advance in case something happened," Deathstroke said as he was pushed inside the cell. "You think it's wise to put me in here with all these lesser warriors? You might not have any prisoners left when you return."

"Yeah, whatever." Naruto said walking out and seeing the sign in the hall had '99% captured' on it. "All that's left is Scarecrow."

Gotham; Clock Tower October 31, 23:15 EDT.

Kage dropped on a large muscular man with a mini-gun before bringing a chakra-infused fist on his head.

"It's safe to reconnect the servers. They're on the top floor." Batman said running up the stairs. Naruto ran up before Miss Martian came up on his gauntlet.

"Miss M, the Clock Tower's secure. You're reconnected to the mainframe."

"Great... OK, it looks like we lost a couple of servers. It's going to take a while to get all my data back. But I should have it all by the time you get back here."

"Got it," Naruto said before jumping out of the window and into his second Tumbler as Batman did the same with the Batmobile.

Later, the duo walked up to Miss Martian who was typing on the computer.

"Great, you're here. Scarecrow's chopper flew out towards the bay before heading North. I tried narrowing it down further, but the data is corrupted. They did more damage than I thought." she said before the building shook.

"The hell?" Naruto asked as the building shook again before the Scarecrow came up on the computer monitor.

"Gallant police force of Gotham. I have a message for you. You are not safe. You are not protected. Batman and Kage will not save you. This is the beginning of the end for you both."

"Like hell it is. The computer's back online, I'll see what I can do from here." Miss Martian said as Naruto turned around to the others.

"Stay here, they may get inside."

Both Naruto and Batman walked out and to the entrance of the building. Where two large armored vans came out with twenty people.

"Cash, lock down G.C.P.D," Batman said over his comms.

"Roger."

Naruto shrugged before hitting a button on his gauntlet. And had the Tumbler shoot bean bags at the group, knocking them all out.

"Well, that was easy."

"Cash, open the shutter doors," Batman said bringing up his screen.

"I'm trying! But the power's out. They're going to tear the building apart!"

"Kage. The schematics say there's a generator on the outside of the building. GO!" Miss Martian yelled coming up on Naruto's screen.

He turned the screen off and looked up. And jumped as a fan blade fell beside him. Looking in front of him, Naruto saw Batman jump out of the Batmobile and glide up to the exhaust leading to the upper floors.

Following the Dark Knight, they came up to the upper office of the police and saw 60 tanks and two large missile launchers in front of the building. Batman shot his grapple went to the roof and landed down to the top of the entrance to the underground building.

Naruto followed suit and saw the now-destroyed generator.

"Miss M, the generator's destroyed," Naruto said over his earpiece.

"Damn it! OK, there's a backup in the underground parking garage. But it should have come online."

"They must have left people there," Naruto said before going to the entrance. And dropped down as a tank was being crushed by the shutter door. Batman followed just as the tank exploded before seeing a group of men by a generator in the wall.

"Tajū Kage Bunshin no Jutsu! (Multi Shadow Clone Jutsu)!" Naruto created a large group of clones that took care of the men as Batman used his R.E.C. Gun to turn on the generator.

"Miss Martian. The generators are back online." Batman said over his earpiece.

"Good, get out there. I'll help." She replied before Naruto spoke.

"Batgirl, take control of the Bat-Jet."

"Got it!"

They called their cars and went to the exit.

"Ready?" Naruto asked going into Tank Mode.

"Ready."

"Ready."

"Ready."

All three replied before Naruto counted down.

"Five."

"Four." Batman continued.

"Three." Miss Martian followed right after.

"Two," Batgirl called out.

"One!" All of them yelled out as the Bio-Jet and Bat-Jet flew towards them. Both cars shot ten tanks each before each Jet shot twenty each, getting them all. And leaving a crater in front of the building.

"Got them. No, wait! They're on the roof!" Miss Martian yelled out as Naruto ejected himself high above the building.

And created clones once they saw the large group, and had each create a Rasengan (Spiraling Sphere).

"Rasen Chō Tarengan! (Many Spiraling Serial Spheres)!"

Each Naruto landed on a man and took him out. After getting thanks from Cash, Scarecrow came up on his screen, showing a tied-up Fury

"OK, what is it? Opposite day for you two? How did both of you get caught this easily?"

Scarecrow explained that Naruto would have to turn himself in to get his daughter back.

"(Sigh) Fine!"

Gotham; Arkham Asylum November 1, 00:45 EDT.

Kage was strapped to a gurney as he was pulled inside the abandoned building. Looking around, Naruto saw it was still a mess and destroyed with large vines inside.

"(Sigh) Ivy seems to love using giant plants these last few years." He said remembering Ivy being pumped full of Titan by the Joker and fighting them inside a giant flower.

Once he was pulled over to Scarecrow, Naruto was injected with his fear toxin before grinning. "You don't scare me, Crane." He said as Scarecrow reached for his hood.

Only to stop as a kunai lodged itself into the gurney by his hand.

"Yo, Scarecrow! Thanks for all that money in your vault!" Jumper yelled out as she threw another kunai, getting Naruto free of his restraints.

Naruto grabbed Scarecrow before taking his syringe hand and stuck Scarecrow with his toxin. Suddenly, Scarecrow started screaming before being knocked out by Naruto.

Gotham; G.C.P.D. November 1, 01:15 EDT.

Kage dropped down from the Bio-Ship as Scarecrow, without his toxin belt or glove, was lowered and handed off to Cash who took him.

"You sound scared, Crane. Get used to it." Aaron said taking Scarecrow to the elevator and closing the door.

(Flashback End.)

Naruto E. smiled as he left while drying his hair. "It's a shame I never got to thank her for the save. Whoever she was," he said to himself.
