#Chapter Fifty

Serene waited outside the door, sighing as she saw a long queue in front of her. Apparently many had already seen the job poster, and her tearing it down was not such a great idea. As time went on, she advanced in the queue until some interesting things happened.

One man came storming out, swearing him off and raining down curses on his business. Then another woman came out in tears and ran away into the far distance. And yet another woman came out swearing that she would never come back to Dalgaco again because a cursed devil was living in it. Then another man came out and fainted on the spot.

So Serene cursed under breath. What kind of man was Landon? She looked behind her and saw that she was the last one in the queue and she sat down on the path, nodding to sleep soon after. When someone shook her awake, she was informed that it was her turn. She stepped into the home and was then greeted with the biggest shock of her life.

"Lachlan!" Serene exclaimed as his head snapped up to her. Shock shone in his eyes as they stared into each other's eyes and she saw emotion overcoming his expression. He covered his mouth as he stared at his desk, which was littered with ball of papers crumpled up, formerly resumes.

He returned his eyes to her. "Serene, they told me they couldn't find you. I came back alive after they thought I was dead but after that, they could no longer contact you."

"My sister passed away recently and I moved to another town to start over. I can't believe you're still alive!"

He smiled. "I missed you so much, my fucking crazy bitch."

"You too, my bastard."

He got to his feet and walked over to his curtains. Shaking a rope free from it, he wound it tightly around his hands and he stood before her. "You're here for a job interview, correct?"

"Yes," she said as her core tightened at the sight of the rope in his hands.

He pulled it taut. "I think it's over, don't you think?"

"Yes," she breathed.

"Now, where were we?"

"Oh, Lachlan," she said, her mind bursting with joy, her usual tension melting away into peace.

"Crawl, Serene."

She got onto her knees. "Master…" He wound the rope around his fist a few more times.

"Come," he said. "My servant."
