My Second Desire

Bella Ashton, the top socialite and a powerful CEO can have everything she laid her eyes on. Only that, this seemingly perfect woman had a little weakness. There is this one man she has been crushing over for a long time. And now, he is delivered to her as an advance birthday gift. But how to act around him? Luckily, her over-efficient secretary had provided her with romance novels and comics for times like this. When she picks one of them to learn a few tricks, the last thing that she expects is to be sucked inside the comic. Alright...That's alright... But how the heck did she become the vicious supporting character? She has been shining all her life. From then on, her only wish is to go back. Will she find a way to go back to the world she belongs to? She believes she will. Then... why is this male lead sparing flirty glances at her? No, she still had her crush waiting for her in her world. She can't be seduced! Excerpt: "This is not right," she stepped back from him. "What do you think is wrong?" he asked ever so gently as he tucked the lose strands of her hair behind her ear. "You, me, us, everything is wrong. I am not who you think I am and you..." Her brows tugged together as she continued, "You are not meant for me," she took another step back. He grabbed her wrists and pinned her to wall, trapping her in between his arms, "Bell," he whispered, his body towering over her. Bella bit her bottom lips. The intimacy with which he called her name, she will admit it gave her butterflies every single time. "Mediocre love seeks everything right," he leaned closer, letting his lips graze on her cheeks, "You, my dear, make me drown in you." "No matter how wrong it is, you are mine," the man chuckled, "Thought you should know that," he kissed the corner of her lips. Every inch of him promised sins that she was supposed to stay away from, but can she?

Secretary

''Young Master sent me over since your car broke down earlier,'' the middle-aged man replied politely.

Her lips curved up slightly which confused the driver. 'Alright, he is not that bad after all' she concluded in her mind.

The driver opened the door for her and Bella quietly got inside the car.

''Where to, Miss?" the man asked her as he glanced at her through the rearview mirror.

''Just circle around the city,'' She leaned to the side of the car. Her face was pressed on the glass pane as she looked at the streets.

Although the man was confused, he did not ask any further questions and did what he was told.

Bella was lost in her thoughts. What happened today could be counted as a red alert to her future.

She did not know the pins of the cards that belonged to the previous Bella and even if she did know it, she did not think the girl would have lots of money with her given her status in the family. After finishing her studies abroad, she was still partying and living through the days of nightlife, spending recklessly.

And the cash left was very little.

She had yet to find a way to go back to her world but till then, what was she going to do?

She would rather starve than ask for money from the Scott Family members. And Niklaus did help her out today for which she was grateful to him but it was a one-time thing.

In the future, she can't afford to rely on anyone here lest she created more trouble for herself.

Something flashed in her mind and Bella straightened up ''Trident Empires,'' she suddenly said and the car swerved towards the right. She quickly balanced her body.

''M-Miss Bella?" The driver stuttered after he regained his control on the steering wheel.

''Take me to Trident Empires,'' the corner of her lips tugged up as she sat up straight.

Trident Empires.

''What do you mean by 'doesn't meet the requirements'?" Niklaus narrowed his eyes.

The brown-haired man sitting beside him could not help but snicker, ''Doesn't meets means doesn't means, what else?''

The woman who was standing at a distance with the reports in her hand glanced at him indifferently, ''Vice President, it is improper for you to interrupt when I am talking to President.''

Lucas laughed, ''Come on, Hannah. Do you have to be so stingy and cold-faced all the time? Do you know how older those frowns make you appear?"

Hannah shot him a bone-chilling glare. Age was her inverse scale. She was one year away from hitting her 30s and she hated it when anyone brought it up. And usually, only this jerk would do that. One of the thousand reasons why HR Director Hannah hated Vice President Lucas.

Lucas quietly played with the paperweight after he was glared at by both the people in the room.

Niklaus glanced at the woman, ''Continue,'' he said.

Hannah nodded, ''She doesn't meet the requirement that states she must be in the Top 5 in her university, and…'' she hesitated.

''And?" Niklaus narrowed his eyes.

''And she is not a business graduate,'' Hannah finished her sentence.

''Pfft,'' Lucas threw his head back as he laughed. After a long time, he stopped laughing and glanced at Hannah with amusement, ''Are you kidding us? Hannah, I think your skills are getting as rusty as you.''

Hannah treated him like air and she focused her attention on Niklaus, ''Even though she doesn't meet the requirements, she is the most perfect candidate for this position. No one can match up to her skills and abilities and to top it off, she did not smile at all…not even once.''

It was Lucas' turn to be stunned, ''What do you mean by she did not smile?"

''One of the conditions for the President's secretary was that she can't smile during working hours and one of the interviewers was hired to make sure of this condition,'' While every interviewee ended up smiling or giggling at his occasional jokes, she was the only one who sat unmoved.

''Show me the conditions, will you?" Lucas speechlessly received Hannah's iPad and the more he looked at the job requirements, the more he felt like he should have been blinded before seeing it. Was his friend looking for a secretary or a xerox version of himself…don't smile during working hours. What the hell!

He glanced at Niklaus as if he was looking at the eighth wonder of the world.

Niklaus did not pay attention to him, ''She knows how to work?" he asked Hannah.

''She is top-notch,'' a small smile appeared on Hannah's ever so cold face, ''She beat me in a few questions and it has been a long time since I interviewed someone like that.''

''For you to flash that gorgeous smile, just how good is she?" Lucas raised an eyebrow.

Niklaus contemplated over it. It was not an easy feat to please Hannah within 3 rounds of the interview and he could not help but be curious, ''Alright, we can ignore those two requirements if she is that good. But she will stay for a trial period of 2 weeks.''

''2 weeks?" Hannah's lips twitched slightly.

''Yes. If she can't work properly, we will be hiring a new secretary,'' Niklaus said in a non-negotiable tone.

Hannah and Lucas exchanged glances. Although he said 2 weeks to make it look decent but in reality, she might not make it to the 2nd day if he did not like her work.

Hannah adjusted her glasses. If this person did not pass through his eyes, then she did not know from where would she get another secretary who meets all the requirements.

Despite the thoughts in her head, she nodded professionally, ''Let me introduce you to her.''

Niklaus nodded and Hannah walked out of the office room.

Lucas pushed himself to his feet and he leaned on the desk, ''I am curious to know what kind of goddess managed to impress our ice princess to this extent.''

''You have nothing to do?" Niklaus glanced at him emotionlessly.

Lucas rolled his eyes, ''I need to attend a meeting in 20 minutes.''

''Then what are you doing here….'' Niklaus paused when the door opened, his gaze landed on the person who stepped inside the office room and the rest of his words died in his throat.
