Exes should be axed.

(Kaleah POV)

The date had been a slight success, one Clayton did not kill me, which is something I had thought he would after the story Cyan told me where he killed his parent's killer.

"How was the date?"

As soon as I enter the house I am greeted by Conan's prying face and Cyan's enthusiastic face. I had known Conan for a little while now and though he had grown on me, his mischievous nature tends to be too much sometimes.

"You set me up like that and you expect a good outcome?"

I immediately pout at them, it would have been nice if they warned me about the identity of my date, but no I had to find out by meeting the devil himself, without prior preparations.

"Don't lie to us, we all know how Clayton looks at you like some angel."

"That doesn't mean he want to marry me," I defended, "he is probably just infatuated and just wants to bed me."

"Clayton infatuated?" they both say in union before laughing to my face, these fools. "So, when is the wedding." Conan asks.

"I don't know, he just agreed to get married we didn't plan a wedding with just one date."

I see the gasp, before both smirks again, and I think I am beginning to hate the Becketts, every single one of them. "So, he did agree to marry you." Cyan says with a knowing gaze.

"Shut up your smart*ss, he is just agreeing with what Melisa told him. Where is my baby?" I change the subject; I see Conan roll his eyes.

"You are no fun, I am going to ask Clay when returns, at least he doesn't lie." Conan says before leaving.

"Zoey is asleep," Cyan answers, "come on let's get ready to rest, and you will tell me all about your date with my brother."

I take the longest shower in the history of showers, I bet I broke a world record of some sort. When I finally get out I am happy to see Cyan finally asleep, 'averted the Clayton talk for the night' I pat myself in the back for the excellent job I have done.

But my happiness is short-lived because Zoey wakes up before I could even rest. I immediately take her out of the room to prevent her from waking Cyan. I give her usual bottle for the night which she spits out before sobbing loudly.

She became louder and louder by every minute, and I became anxious. What am I doing wrong? How do I fix this problem? What if she wakes the others up? But soon the questions just stop, as she cries for almost two hours, I just pray she is okay, I pray she is not hurt.

When Clayton arrives back home soon after finding me discouraged and empty with Zoey still crying buckets and I hadn't deduced what was going on. I am dumb, so dumb, such a useless mother, Clayton deduces the problem with just a touch.

I watch as Zoey settle comfortably in his arms, he still speaks softly to comfort not only the child but me as well. A useless mother who needs comforting like a child.

With all my uselessness I am able to do something, drive us to the hospital. But it seems I have drove us into a pit, the bright light of the car is clear, but if there is someone who should die, it should be me.

"Kaleah!" I hear Clayton yell, "Let me drive."

I wake up from whatever I was in, turns out we didn't hit the car, it sped off to hit the pole, our car is still untouched.

"But the other driver?" I mummer, someone comes out of the car alcohol in hand, and Clayton sneers at the scene.

"It is not your fault, that bustard is drunk driving."

"Oh, I…"

"Let's switch places I will drive."

"I am sorry."

"Don't apologize, it is not your fault."

He gives me Zoey but takes a few moments to confront the drunk driver, it takes half an hour for the police to arrive and arrest the man.

"Sorry I took too long, I wanted to make sure he was punished" he says before starting the car to drive.

"It is okay, he could've hurt us with his reckless driving."

I wasn't at fault, I sighed looking at Zoey who was worsening. Though Zoey still preferred Clayton's arms she still calmed down a bit in my arms. We arrived at the hospital just in time. We found a good doctor to take care of Zoey.

"You think she is going to be okay?" I ask Clayton.

"Of course, she is going to be fine." He reassures me sweetly; he seems to be very gentle now that Zoey is sick.

"You seem to be good with kids."

"Oh, I have a little sister who was a bit nagging" he explains, "though aunt and grandmother raised us, I babysat her a lot since they were busy women."

"Must have been hard, Cyan is a bit much sometimes."

"But I enjoyed it, you shouldn't beat yourself up about not knowing how to raise your child, this is your first child. You will learn as she grows."

"Ah, thank you, I feel a little better now." I smile at him, he has helped me greatly, I should show my appreciation.

He doesn't look at me for long before turning away with a blush on his face, very peculiar, I had never thought Clayton was capable of blushing. The doctor joins us afterwards, Dr Hedin.

"It is just a fever, if you would have given her medication it would have subsided." He spoke.

"Oh, how is she?" I ask.

"She is doing okay; we are going to keep her for the night to examine if we missed anything."

"Do not leave any stones unturned, make sure that every need is taken care of." Clayton says, shocking the doctor.

"Ah, Mr Beckett what bring you here?"

"My daughter, Zoey Huxley."

He says proudly, I look at him to see if he is joking but he still looks proud and serious. This also shocks the doctor, but he doesn't question him.

"We will take care of you daughter well." The doctor bows shyly before leaving.

"Umm….. well…." I try to bring up why he called Zoey his daughter to no avail.

"She is my daughter isn't she, since we are to marry, she will be my child as she is yours." He explains before I could speak the words out.

We spend the rest of our hours in the hospital, I refuse to leave Zoey's side and Clayton refuses to leave us here unattended. With that both Clayton and I slept on a chair besides Zoey's bedside.

I woke up the next day with Zoey still sedated, it was scary thing to know. She was only four months old and her not crying occasionally, during the night scared me. I had left Clayton in the room with Zoey to ask why she wasn't sleeping.

The doctor had explained how normal it was for Zoey to not wake up right away. They had given her medicine to help her sleep for the night. I felt relieved that she wasn't in any danger.

During my walk back to her room I had bumped into the last person I had hoped to bump into. I had forgotten Lola worked in this hospital since I was too disoriented to think last night.

"Ah, if it isn't Kaleah."

"Good morning, Lola."

With Lola was her cheating fiancé who seem to have driven his precious love to work.

"Kaleah, what bring you here? Are you here to ask Lola to leave me since you cannot find that imaginary sweet fiancé you bragged about." James smugly said, ugh the men I dated.

"No, Zoey is not feeling well, and I have brought her here last night." I gave them the explanation I did not even have to give.

"Oh, poor thing, did your imaginary fiancé bring you." Lola joked, "guess little Zoey will not grow up to be a bustard child like you."

I had wanted to curse them out for their senseless comments. Zoey was always a sensitive topic to me, and they might have saw the twitch in my eyes whenever the insult her, which made them speak ill of her even more.

"Please leave me alone, I just want to make sure my baby sister is okay."

I had walked away from the two, before doing something untasteful like punching both of them in their disgusting faces. I had decided to order both Clayton and I food, Melisa told me to make sure I take care of his bad diet.

"I do not have money, how smart of me?" I curse at myself.

"I can buy you what you want but you need to do something for me."

James, he had left his little fiancé to come torment me, to come show his disgusting ugly face. I snort at him before turning to leave.

"Where are you going? I am not done talking yet." He grabs her arm with contempt, "I finally found you a useful thing to do, if you do I might take care of that brat for you."

"Please let me go James." I yell hoping to get help for the bystanders but instead they ignore us. I struggle with the hands he had grabbed; I could see a print forming.

"Come on I know you still like me; you still dream of us being a thing." He put his disgusting face enough for me to make out what he ate for breakfast.

He said something, but I don't know what he said. I didn't hear him; I just saw him flying to the ground before I could even comprehend what he had said. I looked back to see Clayton rubbing his fist.
