Chapter 45: While We Wait
“Queen Amanda,” Princess Abigail rushes to my side as I stand up and she slips her arm through mine. I don’t question when she arrived but I know it is safer for her to be here than in Minorca.
“Amanda, thank you for letting me stay here while…” Abigail trails off and she looks out the window with a worried look on her face. Thankfully, the yard is now cleared of soldiers and she doesn’t see the chaos that was happening only minutes earlier.
“Of course,” I say when she can’t finish her sentence. “I am grateful for the company.”
I gesture for Abigail to take the seat next to me and we sit down together.
“What are we supposed to do?” I ask. “I haven’t been in this situation before,” I admit as we sit together in the too-quiet room.
