Sue's Secret

Suddenly, she starts talking. "Tristan, the thing is..."

Sue pauses her words while fidgeting with her fingers.

"Tell me the problem, sister. I promise you, I am very reliable," I say again, persuading her to speak.

She leaks out a heavy sigh... On the other hand, I am gritting my teeth inwardly because Meg will soon arrive from the guild.

"Tristan, you caused it... You caused it by making a promise that you couldn't fulfill." Sue says while she looks up, glancing at the ceiling.

"Wait, what is that? What did I do?" I ask, as I can't find anything relating to any promise to Sue in my predecessor's memories.

"Y-You forgot?" Sue asks again, her eyes shaky as if tears are about to fall. I can also see her clenching her fists.

"I...I don't remember anything, sister," I reply in confusion.

"Y-You don't remember the promise you made seven years ago?" Sue asks again, frustration etched on her face while she bites her lips.

"I don't remember any of that, sister. With my current age, seven years ago I was still ten years and a few months old while you were thirteen," I say in confusion again.

Glancing outside through the window, I can see the sky getting darker, making my heart skip a few beats. Even though I can use Mana now, facing Meg alone is akin to killing myself. That's why I need Sue and Clare on my side.

"Seven years ago before mom's death, we were so close that no one could barely separate us. During those times because of your inability to use Mana, I started working on a project secretly which I told you about and promised to get completed. In return, you also made a promise," Sue pauses her words, glancing at the ceiling once again.

"You made a promise to marry me, and then we had our first kiss. Things were going well, and all of a sudden, you started getting closer to Clare while slowly drifting away from me.

After Mom's death, it got worse. All the things I usually do for you, like secretly giving you food, Clare started doing them. I was hurt and devastated, that's why I stopped talking to anyone, but secretly, I have always cared about you. Just like when the bandits were about to kill you, I struck them down with lightning bolts, finishing them off. Then I put you in a safe corner," Sue reveals while small drops of tears fall from her eyes.

I sit there, stunned by her words. The weight of her revelations presses down on me, and I struggle to process the flood of memories she's brought to light.

"I...I said all of that?" I mutter in a low voice filled with awe. My predecessor seems to have some weird type of relationship with his sisters. First with Clare, now with Sue.

Ah... Now that I checked his memories, incestuous relationships are allowed in this world, but it's still frowned upon by the majority of people.

Fuck! I shouldn't mess up. Things took an unexpected turn, but I can't give up on what I came here to do.

"S-Sister... If I say I don't remember anything I said seven years ago, you wouldn't believe me. But I think I have some vague memories about it. I am sorr–"

"First of all, call me Sue just like the way you usually call me before. Stop calling me sister like we are strangers," Sue interrupts me with a smile, wiping the small drops of tears from her eyes.

"Sue, I am sorry for not remembering any of my promises, and I also appreciate your efforts in reaching out to me and saving me from the bandits. Because of that, Sue, I am going to keep the first step of my promise," I say with a smile, moving closer to her.

"H-How will you keep your promise?" Sue asks with a stutter, her face turning red.

"I want to make you mine," I reply, gently grabbing her shoulders and pushing her back onto the bed. I lean over her, my heart pounding in my chest, and her face turns an even deeper shade of red. Her breathing grows heavy, and she turns her face to the side in embarrassment.

Suddenly, white familiar characters appear before my eyes.
