"But Mom, Callum is the king." Those words just came out of Addie's mouth, and I couldn't believe what I was hearing. What? What was this? What was she talking about? The king was Callum, and he was a good man? No, that couldn't be possible. That was not what we were led to understand. Briar had said that the king's name was Maxwell and that he was a human-hating asshole. Who was this Callum and when did he become king? What happened in the city since the last time that Briar was there? Did kings serve such a small term? I mean, that couldn't be the way that things really went.
