Chapter Three

English lesson was still going on when Regina felt eyes on her. She turned, and noticed that Xander was staring at her. He did not avert his eyes even when she caught him staring. He was staring so intensely at her that even Mr Jones noticed.

Meanwhile, Xander was uncomfortable in the class. His wolf was trying to surface and overpower him. This was unusual, his wolf rarely argued with him. If He wanted to follow his instincts, he would have walked over to her seat and taken her out of the class. He knew even if He did that, the teacher wouldn't have been able to stop him. But He couldn't just do that. She was human, which made things a lot more complicated.....

Mr Jones couldn't take it any longer and turned to Xander. "Xander, is anything the problem? Why are you distracted?". Xander just stared darkly at him. "I'm okay sir, nothing is wrong", he muttered. Mr Jones found him creepy and continued teaching. To him, there was something about that foreign boy that did not just seem right.

After English class, SSS2A had Agricultural science for two periods. Throughout the lessons, Xander was still staring at Regina. She tried to ignore the fluttering in her belly. 10am was the normal break time for most Nigerians schools, and their school wasn't an exception. When it was break time, Regina and her two best friends; Emily and Favour sat together at her seat. Emily removed a spoon from her bag. "So whose food are we eating first?", she asked excitedly. "Yours", Favour replied. She was about the same height with Regina. She had dark brown skin, dark eyes and brown hair. Emily's smile faded. Regina opened her food flask. Her two besties looked in to see what was inside. Emily, being the top foodie of the class, smiled brightly. She threw her hands in the air in a childish manner, "Yeah!!!". Regina had brought fried rice and fried rice was Emily's favourite food. The three friends brought out their spoons. Emily was about to dig in when Regina stopped her. "Wait, let's pray first". They closed their eyes. "Bless us o Lord, and this Your gift which we were about to receive from your abundance, through Christ our Lord, Amen". Regina and Favour opened their eyes only to see Emily eating. "Emily! Really?!", Favour rolled her eyes in annoyance. "Gina, you were praying too long", Emily complained. Regina's pet name was Gina. "Oh Keep quiet, glutton. For that, you won't eat my meat", Regina said. Emily looked horrified. "Geez, I'm joking. But don't try this next time", she said. They ate together. After eating the rice, Favour brought out potato chips from her bag and gave her friends a little of it. She was eating it when Regina and Emily finished theirs. They stared at her. "What?", she asked them. "Favour, give me the breaki-breaki (crumbs) when you are done eating", Regina said. "Ta! All the crumbs are mine! I asked Favour first", Emily said. "Liar of the century! Favour don't listen to her", Regina retorted. "Gina, just leave the crumbs for me na. How will a big girl like you be eating crumbs?", Emily said. Regina stared at her. "What of you? Emily, are you not a big girl? What is that your nickname again.... girl boss. Have you seen a girl boss eating crumbs?". Some of their classmates were in the class. They watched them, laughing. One of their classmates, Sarah spoke. "See how you two are fighting over crumbs, crumbs oh! Is that how hungry you are?". She turned to Emily, "As for you, you will be eating every time and I can't even see the effect of the food on you". She said this because Emily was thin and taller than Regina and Favour. "Gina na, just dash me the crumbs na", Emily said sweetly. "Fine, take it. Before you start crying", Regina replied. Everybody laughed.

Regina noticed that Xander was still watching her, this time with a small smile. She could not bear it any more. She stood up and walked over to his desk. She stared at him, raising her eyebrows at him. He was confused, "What is it?". "I think that's my line. You have been staring at me since you came. You know, staring at someone like that is creepy", she replied. He was surprised that she was bold enough to confront him. He knew that he gave off an aura that screamed, "don't come close, danger". "So what is it?". He shrugged, "I find you...amusing". She narrowed her eyebrows and pouted, lost in thought for some seconds. "Amusing, what is that supposed to mean?", she thought aloud. He chuckled at her silly attitude. Then she snapped back to reality. She narrowed her eyes at him before going back to her seat with a 'hmph!'. As she sat down, her besties stared at her. "What?", she asked. They smiled mischievously. "Emily, do you see it?", Favour asked. Emily grinned, "Yes, it's the beginning of a new love story". Regina shook her head at them. "I know you two have been waiting for an opportunity to match me up with a guy, but this is not working", she muttered. "Of course I have been waiting for this opportunity! Last term you two matches me up with Simeon, imagine Simeon of all people. Now I'll have my payback, muhahahah!", Emily said. "You are even lucky he's cute. Is he not cute?", Favour said. "You think every guy is cute", Regina said. "Not true, I just appreciate cute boys. But, you can't deny he is cute", Favour pointed out. "So what of he's cute?", Regina asked. Favour eyed her, "Don't pretend like you don't like him". Unknown to them, Xander heard their conversation with his sharp wolf ears. He smiled, glad that his appearance affected her. The he remembered he was supposed to follow his life motto which involved not falling in love. Forget life motto Xander, he thought, you are stuck in love and there is no way out.

Meanwhile, the news of the hot Korean halfcast spread like wildfire still on that day. In SSS2A, two girls discussed among themselves. "Patricia, are you hearing what I'm hearing?", Silvia asked with a gossip tone. She was a short fair girl with wide blue eyes and a lousy character. "I'm hearing it too o. A Korean boy in SSS2A", Patricia replied. She was tall and dark, Silvia's best friend. "This is a great opportunity for us. If we can get the foreign boy to like us, our days of poverty will be over! We have to get out hands on him", Silvia said. Patricia thought for a while. "You are right, Silvia". Silvia frowned. "Of course I'm right, I'm always right". Then she smiled and adjusted her hair. "That will not be hard for me, trust me. Everybody in this school knows that I am the most prettiest girl. It will not be hard for me to make him mine", she said with pride. Just at that time, the bell was rang for break over. Patricia frowned. "Ohhhh! Break is over so soon..". "Don't worry, that won't stop us from seeing this handsome Korean boy. Let's go, but keep your distance. Remember, he is mine".

After break, SSS2A had Chemistry. The chemistry teacher was teaching when he noticed the two girls sitting behind Xander. They were not paying attention to the lesson, but was staring at the halfcast boy. He got their attention. "Who are you two, and how come I've never seen you in my class?", he asked. "Sir, we are Silvia and Patricia, and this is our class", Silvia lied. "I hope you are understanding the chemistry?", he asked, a little suspicious. "Yes sir, we are", Silvia lied. In her mind she said the only chemistry she was understanding was the chemistry of Xander's body. At that moment, some of the class started shouting,"Sir, they are lying! They are not from this class!". This made the teacher angry. "Leave this class now!", he yelled. They lazily left the class and Silvia could not stop cursing the teacher in her mind for stopping her from staring at her crush....

The rest of the day went on smoothly. After school, Regina did her normal routine of doing the chores and reading her books. She feared not tell that day's incident to her sister, Amanda, as she would tease her nonstop. Besides, she had enough teasing from her besties.
