Chapter 17: Swamp Monster in a Mountain of Goop

Maxx’s POV:

I knew things had finally gotten serious when AJ entered what looked like an expert level meditative trance. Or, maybe I was just impressed. Because I was pretty sure I didn’t have even a tenth of the emotional awareness my mate did.

After thinking about it that way, it was sort of obvious why he always seemed to have so much going on.

“It’s going to feel weird.” AJ finally said. When really, I just couldn’t take my eyes off him. He looked so peaceful and serene. If it wasn’t too corny to say, I thought he looked like a little Moon Goddess of his own.

Man, this boy had me by the balls.

“AJ, again, it’s absolutely fine. I’m here to support you. Take your time, but whatever’s going on, I promise I won’t judge. Deal?”

AJ just smiled and nodded appreciatively.
