Office court

"Don't worry, we are rooting for you. Should the boss ask for witnesses, I'll be there to witness against them."

The female, who waved me to her table earlier, said as she placed her hand on my shoulder.

" Thank you. " I smile at her.

There's no need to show them the fear I feel right now, at the prospect of my husband being angry with me.

I can't show them my fears, not at all.

" Go ahead. Don't forget, you have someone like me rooting for you."

" I won't forget that, at least not in a haste."

I took a deep, steady breath before I walked to the private elevator.

Sly told me the password for it, so it wasn't all that difficult for me to make use of it.

I entered the elevator, and it closed behind me.

As the car took me up, I felt my heart becoming heavier as I thought about the punishment that awaits me up there.

Who's to know what he intends to do to me?

He might likely prevent me from attending the university.

Gods!

I tug my hair in frustration.

What have I gotten myself into?

Why did I play right into the gallery of temptation?

Had I known, I would have ignored those females when they started talking to me. But, it's difficult to do so.

The words they said about me aren't ones to be overlooked.

Had I walked past, it would have given them enough incentive to mock me more. And that's not what I want.

In no way do I want anyone to insult who I am.

I might have come from poor family background, but that doesn't make me a gold digger.

It doesn't make me a whore.

The elevator dinged to announce my arrival on the last floor, and I got out of it.

It's time to get the game on the move. I take in a very deep, steady breath as I tried to calm my racing heart.

As I walked through the corridor, to his office, I tried to think of the right words to speak that might exempt me from his wrath.

Should I claim it was a mistake?

But what if he asked me to apologize to them?

I can't have that.

No.

I can't allow them to win this while they were the ones who started it.

Should I go with the truth, then?

No.

Sly might take it that I'm too hot-tempered, and that's likely going to cause more problems for me.

I knock on his door before I opened it.

"Took your time, didn't you?" Sly raised a brow at me when I came in.

The two bitchy Females of earlier are standing next to each other. Their faces right now are one of mirth.

Being scolded by my husband is likely the highlight of their day.

"You were making use of the elevator. I had to wait for the car to return."

He nods but didn't say any words after that.

I walked closer to the two females who are giving me deadly stink eyes.

"What happened?"

"He attacked us first."

"They attacked me."

We said simultaneously.

I turn to glare at them, just at the same time they turned, also to glare at me.

"I want to hear from one person. When everyone is talking, no one is."

"Go ahead," I shrug at the females, who looked shocked at the prospect.

They are likely trying to think about the reason I asked them to go first.

" If you say so. " She smirked.

Her face right now looks exactly like that of the witch octopus, in the little mermaid. The curve of her mouth, says it all.

"I was on my own with my friend. We didn't call him, and neither did we say anything to him. But he—"

"If you're going to feed lies to our ears, you should think of a far more believable lie. No one is going to believe the words you're saying. They are too far-fetched to be considered as true." I scoff at her.

" Silence!"

We were startled at the sound his palm on the table, made. The sound made my already jumping heart lunge into my throat without much waste of time.

"You permitted her to narrate her story to me. I don't see any reason why you need to interrupt.

You've already given your go ahead."

" Sorry." I look down in shame.

Not only did I fight in public, but I'm disgracing him in the presence of others.o

"You can go ahead."

"Thank you, boss." The female brightly smiled at him before turning to me with a very dark glare. "Like I was saying before, I got interrupted by this nincompoop—"

I ball my hand into a fist as I fought to keep my anger in check.

" He stopped right next to our table, and asked for my mobile number, but I refused to give it to him. That was when he went ballistic and poured the drink on me."

She concluded her storytelling show.

" I see." Sly nods," He asked for your number?"

"Yes, he did." The friend answered, "I was. Witness to everything."

"And you must have known what exactly happened?"

"Yes, boss."

"You're sure my— he asked for your number?" The boss stood from his chair.

" Yes, he did." The female answered, "he said he wanted to have a chat with me out—"

"Your stories don't seem to rhyme with this video, does it?" Sly showed us the video of what happened minutes ago.

"Boss, i—" Their eyes widened in fear as they watched the video.

"You're sacked!"

"Please boss." The both of them knelt on the floor, "we are story boss. We promise—"

"You know what I don't like? I hate it when my workers not only fight during office hours but end up lying about it."

" Please boss."

" Leave my office, right this instant. I would rather not see your hideous, lying faces ever again.
