Chapter 35: Parental Legacy 2

My Life as Naruto Uzumaki - Harem Version

Chapter 35: Parental Legacy 2

----------------------------------------------

"Hey, Kichi, do you think Gamamichi would want to be friends, too?" I asked as I walked through the village.

"Hm... I don't see why not. He does like the idea of being a teacher so you could probably connect with him that way." Kichi responded and I grinned.

"Excellent, we're going to the shinobi academy, so might as well have hm tag along." I said and summoned Gamamichi once more.

"Heya, already need me?" He asked and looked around.

"Not in a fight?"

"Nope, I'm going to the academy to help teach some stuff. Want to come along?" I asked and he jumped onto my shoulder.

"Lead the way!" He shouted.

He's excitable; just like me, I guess hahaha

[Third Person POV]

"What do you think? He's got the talent, and the skills." Jiraiya spoke while looking at Naruto through Tsunade's crystal ball.

"... Do you think he's ready, though? Talent and skill he has in spades. True. But what would that do to his sense of progression? He's already become a near authority in the field of non chakra-based medicine with his out of the box thinking.

Not to mention that he's pioneered the field to begin with. I worry he might grow bored and turn to... darker subjects..." Tsunade confessed her worries.

"Well... that's where it falls to us to help guide and ensure that he doesn't feel the need to go down that path." Jiraiya stated.

"Also, he won't have much time for much else once his little lady-friends all come of age. He'll be too busy making sure they don't kill each other to spend more time with him." Kakashi joked with a hint of seriousness.

*long sigh* "I guess, you're right. He seems to enjoy taking care of his collection. I wonder whose fault it is that he became such a philanderer." Tsunade glared at the two men.

She sighed again and thought about her nephew. "I need him to gain more experience first. We'll reconsider this at a later date."

Jiraiya and Kakashi both sighed, they knew she'd be overprotective. That said, her reasons were valid and he did need more experience. So they turned to leave.

"Also, I will not be allowing the rookies to join the Chunin exams this coming summer. I'll be waiting for them to gain more field experience with C-Ranks and welcome their recommendations, if any, for the winter exams." Tsunade declared and that stopped Kakashi in his tracks.

He sighed and nodded, walking out with his shoulders drooped.

Tsunade grinned in satisfaction.

"You're not a bad teacher, Naruto. You have a knack for it, I'd even say." Michi said as the trio of ninja and toads made their way to a sweets shop.

There he met with Sakura, Hinata, and Ino to introduce them to his new friends. Hinata took a liking to Kichi while Sakura and Ino both got attached to Michi.

the rest of the evening was spent eating sweets and talking about menial things. Naruto was enjoying his current easy life before things went sideways. He knew he'd be facing challenges, but not when, so instead of worrying, he chose to enjoy every little moment and interaction he could with his friends and loved ones.

The announcement that Genin would be required to take double the amount of D-Ranks and an additional 8 C-Ranks to qualify for the Chunin selection exams would throw his entire sense of story through the window, and he would have to become a more active and proactive character in his own story.

[MC POV]

The next morning I walked to the training grounds with a lazy pace. I'd been put through the wringer with Haku after she found out that Shizune and Ayame wouldn't be coming to my apartment for the night.

It wasn't like all we did was have sex, but it did inevitably lead to that. But I enjoyed the setting of being with just Haku, though. We talked and cooked together, we read a book while embracing, and shared many of the small things people usually just take for granted.

Anyway, I was in no hurry to get to the training ground and I was waiting for Sasuke and Sakura to catch up with me anyways.

Sasuke dropped next to me first and put her hand up.

*sigh* "You're an addict, you know that? When do you plan to learn how to cook these yourself?" I grumbled as I gave her an extra large bento box with a tomato-centric menu.

"Hmph, if you weren't such a good cook I would've been making these myself. It's your fault, so take responsibility." She huffed.

"That sounds terrible outside of context, you two." I heard Sakura sigh from behind us.

"What? Jealous already?" I teased.

She was not amused.

"Aw, come on, Sakura-chan. Don't be like that. I brought you some dango." I bribed.

"... Syrup?" She asked with apprehension.

"Always-" I didn't even finish before she swiped it from my hands.

I chuckled. Gluttons, all of them.

"Ah, perfect timing. How was your rest day, yesterday?" Kakashi poked his head behind us.

Sakura nearly wet herself, Sasuke had a heart attack and I almost decked him. Even as a sensor, he could still hide his presence from me if he wanted to.

It was annoying.

"One of these days, sensei... I'm going to make you regret this..." Sakura grumbled.

Meanwhile I had to hold Sasuke from exacting retribution here and now.

"Mah, mah, don't be so sensitive. Anyway, after careful consideration, I've decided to teach all of you a new jutsu." Kakashi revealed.

Sasuke calmed down and grew excited at the prospect. Sakura looked interested. I wondered what he would teach me; I already had every tool I'd likely need in my arsenal, save for sage mode, but that would come later.

"Sasuke, look closely and try to replicate this, without using your Sharingan, so turn those peepers off." Kakashi instructed.

Sasuke looked appalled but complied.

Hm... this is different. Guess since we're not in a time crunch there's no need to cut corners.

Kakashi performed his famous technique, the Chidori, and dissipated it. Then he told Sasuke how to train his lightning affinity, and to come back to him once she'd mastered the first step. It seemed like he'd already showed her the method for training it.

He then showed Sakura the hand seals for the waterwall, water bullet, and water whip. I thought Kakashi was being silly, but then I remembered that Sakura's reserves had grown considerably in the past few months of training. I was excited to see what I'd learn and grew giddy.

"Alright, Naruto. I have something planned for you, but first, try this..." He handed me a piece of chakra paper.

I channeled my chakra through it and it split in two. I then grabbed the individual pieces and channeled my chakra through it again and the pieces crumpled. I'd forgotten about my lightning affinity entirely.

"Hm... I forgot about this... Does this mean I get to learn your Chidori!" I asked hoping for a yes.

"Sorry, Naruto. But without the Sharingan you wouldn't be able to use the technique effectively." He let me down gently.

"Aw... can't you just make a version that doesn't require the Sharingan? What if your eye gets popped off?" I posed.

He stayed quiet for a moment, as if considering it.

"Hm... not a bad idea... anyway, I want you to learn this technique. It's not as flashy as the others, but it should help you hone your sensing abilities quite significantly." He revealed.

"Hm? How?" I asked, usure what I would be learning.

"Read this and you'll get all of the details. I can't demonstrate since there aren't any overt effects." Kakashi handed me a scroll.

"Area Scanning Technique..." I read the name and grew curious.

I read it and grew excited, it wasn't a combat technique, but it was beyond useful. Basically by channeling my chakra onto a surface I could map it out, determine the presence and location of targets in the surrounding area, and even find weak spots in the structure.

If I could learn to use it constantly, I'd essentially be a walking sonar. It was perfect. I then reached the end and saw the name of the person who wrote this particular scroll for the technique.

"Minato Namikaze"
